Sun Sep 820:06Shohei Ohtani Blasts 46th Home Run
Los Angeles Dodgers designated hitter Shohei Ohtani continued his MVP-type season during Sunday's game against the Cleveland Guardians. Ohtani took Tanner Bibee deep for his 46th home run of the season during Sunday's 4-0 victory. He finished the day 2-for-4 and has been a force at the top of the lineup for this offense. There's still a few weeks left, so Ohtani does have a chance to get to 50 home runs before the regular season ends. Fantasy managers should continue to ride with Ohtani into the postseason.

Sun Aug 2519:46Shohei Ohtani Avoids Serious Injury
Los Angeles Dodgers designated hitter Shohei Ohtani (forearm) was taken for X-rays after getting hit by a pitch during Sunday's game against the Tampa Bay Rays. The good news is that the X-rays were negative, which means Ohtani has likely avoided any serious injuries. Possibly, the Dodgers decide to hold out Ohtani for a day or two, but that depends on how he feels on Monday. Fantasy managers shouldn't need to worry about Ohtani heading to the injured list. The superstar slugger has 41 home runs and 94 RBI across 127 games this season.

Sun Aug 2509:35Shohei Ohtani Hits 41st Home Run On Saturday
Los Angeles Dodgers designated hitter Shohei Ohtani joined the 40/40 club on Friday, but did not slow down one bit the day after achieving that feat, going 2-for-4 with his 41st home run of the season in Saturday's 9-8 extra-innings loss to the Rays. The 2x MVP collected two RBI and scored twice in the contest as well. There is not much more you can say about the phenom, he's having another MVP-caliber season, posting a .294-41-94-99-40 line with a .415 wOBA and 171 wRC+.

Sat Aug 2408:26Shohei Ohtani Joins 40/40 Club With Walk-Off Grand Slam
Los Angeles Dodgers designated hitter Shohei Ohtani went 2-for-5 in Friday's 7-3 win over the Rays. Earlier in the game, the former 2x MVP stole a base to hit the 40-steal plateau, and then, with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth in a tie ballgame, Ohtani belted a walk-off grand slam on the first pitch he saw in the at-bat to reach the 40-homer plateau. It was a storybook way to join the 40/40 club, but with 33 games to go, there is more to accomplish. For the season, the 4x All-Star has amassed a .292-40-92-97-40 line and is the front-runner for National League MVP.

Ohtani is now hitting .291 with a whopping 38 home runs, 87 RBI, 37 stolen bases and 93 runs scored on the season. A 40/40 season seems easily in reach with 38 games to play on the year. His career-high in home runs is 46, set in 2021, and his career-high in stolen bases is the 37 and counting he has this year. Ohtani continues to amaze MLB and fantasy players everywhere with his unmatched and unrivaled skill set.

Tue Aug 1300:34Shohei Ohtani Homers, Swipes Bag In Monday's Win
Los Angeles Dodgers two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer, a walk, two runs scored, and a stolen base in Monday's 5-2 win over the Milwaukee Brewers. Ohtani has been on a bit of a cold streak as of late, slashing .203/.304/.525 with five homers and 11 RBI in his last 15 games. Even with that, Ohtani's numbers on the season are still incredible. In 116 games (456 at-bats), he is slashing .298/.386/.621 with 36 homers and 85 RBI. Hopefully, Monday's performance will help Ohtani get out of his slump and start mashing again.

Thu Aug 814:10Shohei Ohtani Could Be Throwing Off A Mound Next Month
Los Angeles Dodgers two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani (elbow) had an intense game of catch on Monday at Dodger Stadium as he recovers from a second major elbow surgery. Ohtani began his throwing program with soft tosses from no more than 30 feet away in late March and has progressed to throwing from 150 feet at 85% intensity. His program will soon grow from three days a week to four, then to five. By early September, Ohtani could start throwing off a mound again. The hope is that the Japanese MVP can briefly face live hitters in some capacity before the postseason in October before shutting it down and restarting in the offseason. A return to pitching in 2025 aside, Ohtani is on track to become the first full-time designated hitter to win an MVP award, and he's likely to post the sixth 40-40 season in MLB history. He's tied for the National League lead in batting average (.302), leads in homers (34) and is second in RBI (81).

Tue Aug 603:30Shohei Ohtani Swats Home Run, Steals Base Monday Night
Los Angeles Dodgers designated hitter Shohei Ohtani did it all Monday night, going 2-for-3 with a solo home run, a sac fly, and a stolen base in a 5-3 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies. This was a potential 2024 National League Championship Series matchup that did not disappoint. Ohtani tied the game in the bottom of the fourth inning with a sac fly before coming around and scoring on a Teoscar Hernandez home run. Ohtani then proceeded to hit a home run of his very own in the bottom of the eighth inning to give the Dodgers an insurance run heading to the ninth inning. There's not much else to say about Ohtani that hasn't been said already, but the NL MVP favorite just recorded his first 30/30 season (34 HR, 32 SB). With two months left in the year, the likelihood is that he will reach the 40/40 mark for the first time in his career.

Los Angeles Dodgers DH Shohei Ohtani had a big night in a 6-5 loss to the Oakland A's on Friday. Ohtani went 1-for-5 with a three-run homer but it wasn't quite enough in the close loss to Oakland. Wed Jul 2409:02Shohei Ohtani Adds Three More RBI
Los Angeles Dodgers designated hitter Shohei Ohtani continued his remarkable season in Tuesday's victory versus the rival San Francisco Giants. Ohtani went 2-for-5 and drove in three runs to help the Dodgers reach their 61st win of the season. Sometimes when players sign huge contracts and switch teams in the offseason, they feel added pressure and could struggle for a bit, but not Ohtani. If anything, it has been the opposite with the 30-year-old that has hit .314 with 30 homers, 73 RBI and 24 RBI thus far in Dodger blue. Ohtani continues to be one of the best players in the sport and managers should continue to the enjoy the ride.

Wed Jul 1700:15Shohei Ohtani Hits Three-Run Homer In All-Star Game
Los Angeles Dodgers designated hitter Shohei Ohtani brought the star power in Tuesday's 5-3 All-Star Game loss to the American League. Ohtani went 1-for-2 with a three-run home run, a walk, and a strikeout. The 30-year-old provided the first runs of the game, obliterating a third-inning Tanner Houck splitter into the right-field seats. The two-way star managed to produce as one of fantasy's top players in the first half without providing any pitching stats, slashing .316/.400/.635 with 29 HR, 75 runs scored, 69 RBI, and 23 stolen bases in 429 plate appearances. He should continue to be a five-category force in the second half while hitting in the middle of one of baseball's best lineups.

Sat Jul 1318:30Shohei Ohtani Rips Homer And Triple, Not Enough In Loss On Saturday
Los Angeles Dodgers designated hitter Shohei Ohtani hit a homer and a triple en route to going two-for-four at the plate with two walks in the Dodgers' 11-9 extra innings loss to the Detroit Tigers on Saturday. The homer was Ohtani's 29th on the season as he increased his OPS to 1.037 on the season while also recording two RBI and three runs. With the plethora of injuries that the Dodgers have faced during the first half of the season, the lefty's prominence at the plate has helped to keep them well in front of the San Diego Padres and Arizona Diamondbacks in the NL West. Ohtani's case to win NL MVP as just a DH keeps growing by the day. He'll get another chance to keep his stellar season going against Tigers scheduled starter Beau Brieske, who looks to be the opener for a Tigers bullpen game on Sunday.

Wed Jul 1012:51Shohei Ohtani Steals 21st Base In Blowout Loss
The Los Angeles Dodgers may have gotten blown out 10-1 in Tuesday's series opener against the Philadelphia Phillies, but designated hitter Shohei Ohtani still made a mark, going 1-for-2 with his 21st stolen base of the season, a walk and a strikeout. Because the game was out of hand, the Dodgers pulled the 30-year-old two-way superstar in the seventh inning. With the stolen base on Tuesday, Ohtani has now swiped a bag in each of the last three games. He really can do it all, folks. Barring an injury in the second half of the season, the Japanese sensation could be the favorite to win his third MVP award, and first in the National League. Heading into Wednesday's game, Ohtani currently leads the league in runs (72), home runs (28), slugging percentage (.636), OPS (1.037) and total bases (222).

Wed Jul 308:07Shohei Ohtani Continues Incredible Season
Los Angeles Dodgers designated hitter Shohei Ohtani continued his incredible season by going 3-for-5 with a double and two-run home run in Tuesday's victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks. Ohtani has been leading off with Mookie Betts (wrist) sidelined, but hasn't missed a beat at the plate. He also hasn't missed a beat since signing with the Dodgers this offseason as he is now hitting .320 with 27 homers, 64 RBI, 16 stolen bases and a ridiculous 1.048 OPS. Ohtani continues to be one of the best players in the world and is doing it in arguably the best lineup in the league. Not that managers needed any reassurance, but Ohtani remains of the best players in the game and managers should have no reason to entertain offers for the superstar.

Thu Jun 2700:52Shohei Ohtani Extends RBI Streak To 10 Games
Los Angeles Dodgers designated hitter Shohei Ohtani skied a leadoff home run in Wednesday's shutout victory over the hosting Chicago White Sox, setting a club record of 10 straight games with an RBI and making it 1-0 in the first inning. Ohtani's homer was a gargantuan 437-foot shot off White Sox right-hander Erick Fedde, his 26th long ball of the season. The 29-year-old two-way superstar cooled off a bit during late May, but he's slashing a spectacular .310/.425/.736 with 11 round-trippers, 23 RBI, and three stolen bases through 87 at-bats in the month of June. It's unfortunate he won't take the mound in 2024, but we're also catching a glimpse of what Ohtani is capable of accomplishing with the bat without having to worry about the burdens of pitching.

He's been especially hot of late as he's hitting .385 with five homers and 13 RBI over his past seven contests.

Mon Jun 2420:38Shohei Ohtani Plays Catch From 90 Feet
Los Angeles Dodgers two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani (elbow) played catch from 90 feet on Monday for the first time in his rehab process. Ohtani had Tommy John surgery last September and will not pitch at all in his first year with the Dodgers, but he's making strides with his throwing program as we approach the All-Star break next month. The 29-year-old could play some games in the outfield later this year if he continues to progress at a nice pace, but don't count on it. On the offensive side, Ohtani's right-elbow surgery hasn't slowed him down at all, as the two-time American League MVP is currently leading the National League in runs scored (61), home runs (23), batting average .321 (97-for-302), slugging percentage (.632), OPS (1.031) and total bases (191). Continue to throw Ohtani into your fantasy lineups on the daily.
