Sun Aug 1816:40Cal Raleigh Hits 27th Homer
Seattle Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh went 1-for-5 with a two-run homer in the Mariners' 10-3 win over Pittsburgh on Sunday. Raleigh blasted his 27th home run of the season to bring his RBI total to 78. He is hitting .211/.304/.440 on the season. The 27-year-old backstop is a valuable catcher in fantasy because of the power he brings to the table. His batting average, while low, doesn't crush fantasy managers because the position tends to carry more risk in that category. Raleigh should continue to do what he does the rest of the way which is crush homers.

Mon Aug 1200:32Cal Raleigh Crushes Pair Of Homers, Drives In Five
Seattle Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh had a huge night at the dish on Sunday Night Baseball, going 3-for-4 with a pair of homers and five RBI in a 12-1 thumping of the New York Mets. Raleigh homered in the fifth and sixth frames, in which the Mariners scored nine runs to effectively finish off the game. The veteran backstop is doing what is expected of him, hitting dingers and driving in runs. His AVG will always be lackluster, but his power numbers are elite, especially for a catcher. He's a clear starting caliber backstop in fantasy.

Sat Jul 1307:13Cal Raleigh Stays Hot On Friday
Seattle Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh stayed hot in his team's 6-5 loss to the Los Angeles Angels in 10 innings on Friday. Raleigh went 2-for-4 with a homer, a walk, and two RBI but it wasn't enough in the one-run loss. The veteran catcher has been swinging a hot bat of late, hitting .414 with five homers and 10 RBI over his past seven contests. On the year, Raleigh is batting .218 with 20 homers, 40 runs, 61 RBI, and five steals over 307 at-bats. Despite the low batting average, Raleigh has emerged as one of the top offensive catchers in fantasy. After setting a career-high in homers with 30 last season, Raleigh is on pace to smash that record in 2024.

Fri Jul 1202:16Cal Raleigh Homers From Both Sides Of The Plate On Thursday
Seattle Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh had a monster game on Thursday, going 3-for-5 with two homers in an 11-0 rout of the Los Angeles Angels. Raleigh added four RBI and three runs to round out his line. His first homer came in the third inning, when he hit as a lefty. He then turned around to hit from the right side and smashed another homer in the sixth inning. The switch hitter now has four homers in his past three games. Raleigh has done exactly what was expected of him this season, with 19 homers and 59 RBI helping to cloud a dismal .215 AVG. He has also managed to chip in five stolen bases, which are a nice little gift for his fantasy owners. He should continue to be one of the best sources of power from the catcher position, although the steals are sure to dry up.

Wed Jul 1009:09Cal Raleigh Goes Yard Twice In Victory
Seattle Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh had a huge game in Tuesday's blowout victory versus the San Diego Padres. The man known as the Big Dumper went 3-for-5 on the evening with three runs, a double and a pair of two-run homers. The backstop has been on a heater of late with eight hits over his last 25 at-bats to go along with three homers and five RBI in that span. For the season, he has 17 homers and 55 RBI, but it comes with a weak .210 batting average. Despite the low batting average, Raleigh's power makes him a strong option behind the plate. Hitting in the middle of the Mariners line with plenty of power, Raleigh should be rostered in all formats.

Tue Jun 1110:43Cal Raleigh Hits Walk-Off Grand Slam To Lift Mariners Over White Sox
Seattle Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh launched a walk-off grand slam to lift the team to an 8-4 win over the Chicago White Sox on Monday. Raleigh turned on a 2-0 pitch from White Sox pitcher Jordan Leasure for his 12th dinger for the American League West division leaders. He is hitting .206/.287/.402 with 39 RBI and 26 runs scored on the season. Fantasy managers have to endure the low batting average for Raleigh's power, as he is on pace for 26 homers and 93 RBI, numbers that make Raleigh one of the more productive players at a position light on quality.

Thu May 2312:07Cal Raleigh Taking A Seat Thursday
Seattle Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh will take a seat for the matinee game on Thursday in the Bronx against the New York Yankees. Seby Zavala will do the catching for right-hander Luis Castillo and will hit in the nine-hole for the M's against Yankees right-hander Luis Gil. It appears to be just a normal day of rest for Raleigh, who clubbed his 11th homer of the season in Wednesday's contest. The 27-year-old switch-hitting backstop has high-end power for the catching position in fantasy, but he's not ever going to do your team batting average any favors. He's currently hitting .219 (34-for-155) with a 34.5 percent strikeout rate. Those setting DFS lineups should be able to find a better catching option than Zavala, who is hitting .188 (6-for-32) with a homer and two RBI on the season.

Thu May 2310:50Cal Raleigh Blasts 11th Home Run Wednesday
Seattle Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh hit his 11th home run of the season in Wednesday's 7-3 loss to the Yankees. The three-run blast was Raleigh's only hit of the contest and accounted for the only scoring the M's could muster. The 27-year-old hit 30 home runs last season but batted just .232, and it looks like more of the same this season. The backstop is hitting just .219 so far this year with a high 34.5% strikeout rate, but his 11 home runs leads all catchers. For fantasy, managers can't complain, as this was to be expected, and he's delivering in the power department. With the high strikeout rate and robust 16.7% barrel rate, fantasy managers should expect much of the same going forward.

Sun Apr 2814:55Cal Raleigh Not In Sunday’s Lineup
Seattle Mariners backstop Cal Raleigh will receive the day off on Sunday as the Mariners look to complete a three-game sweep against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Raleigh has missed only four games this season and is riding a .235/.315/.457 line with six long balls. The 27-year-old is considered one of the best power options at the catcher position and currently holds an incredible 94.3 mph average exit velocity, 15.7% barrel rate, and 54.9% hard-hit rate which places him in the 96th, 92nd, and 95th percentiles of qualified hitters respectively. Seby Zavala will instead serve as the catcher and bat in the eight hole. Zavala has not made many appearances this season and is a desperation play in DFS against right-handed pitcher Brandon Pfaadt, who enters Sunday with a 4.97 ERA.

Thu Apr 2513:28Cal Raleigh Back In The Lineup Thursday
Seattle Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh (mouth) is behind the plate and is hitting third in the Mariners lineup on Thursday against the Texas Rangers and left-hander Andrew Heaney. Raleigh suffered a broken tooth in Tuesday's game and sat out on Wednesday while having a dental procedure. The 27-year-old switch-hitting backstop is back in there a day later, though, and should be returned to starting lineups in all fantasy leagues. The former third-rounder in 2018 out of Florida State has been one of the better offensive-minded catchers so far this year, as he's hitting .271/.350/.529 with an .879 OPS, six home runs and 13 RBI in 20 games played for the M's. He's gone deep in four of his last five games as well. In his career against Heaney, he's hitless in five at-bats.

Wed Apr 2400:46Cal Raleigh Hits Sixth Homer Of Season Tuesday
Seattle Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh continued his strong offensive start to the season in Tuesday's 4-0 win over the Rangers. Raleigh went 2-for-4 with a single, a two-run home run, and two strikeouts. The 27-year-old has hit for power as expected but has also provided average, slashing .271/.350/.529 with six HR and 13 RBI in 80 plate appearances. It remains to be seen if he can keep the average up with a 30.0% strikeout rate, but fantasy managers will enjoy it as long as it lasts.

Wed Apr 314:56Cal Raleigh Getting A Breather Wednesday
Seattle Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh is getting a rest on Wednesday when the club takes on the Cleveland Guardians and left-hander Logan Allen. It's a perfect spot to give the switch-hitter a rest as Raleigh owns a .670 OPS against left-handed pitching versus a .749 OPS against righties for his career. The 27-year-old is off to a slow start this season as he is 4-for-19 without a homer in his 19 plate appearances, striking out in six of them. Despite the slow start, Raleigh remains a high-end catching option as his 57 homers over the last two seasons are the most among all big-league catchers, 11 more than second-place Salvador Perez.

Sun Mar 1714:35Cal Raleigh Returning On Sunday
Seattle Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh (heel) is back in the starting lineup ahead of Sunday's spring training contest against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Raleigh will be back in the lineup after sitting out of Saturday's game due to a minor heel issue. The 27-year-old will bat fifth and be behind the plate for Sunday's contest. Raleigh has become one of the better power hitting catchers in the league. He does have flaws at the plate, but his power numbers are legitimate which gives him solid fantasy value.

Sat Mar 1615:36Cal Raleigh Scratched On Saturday
Seattle Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh was scratched from Saturday's starting lineup due to a bruised heel. The move was precautionary in nature and it's reported that he would have suited up if this was a regular-season contest. The switch-hitter led all big-league backstops with 30 home runs last season while he hit .232 with 78 runs and 75 RBI alongside a .762 OPS across 145 appearances a season ago. His elite defense combined with his big bat will ensure serious playing time in the 2024 season. ATC projects Raleigh to hit .226 with 26 home runs, 71 RBI, and a .753 OPS across 509 trips to the plate in the 2024 campaign.

Thu Mar 1418:58Cal Raleigh Homers As Part Of Two-Hit Day Thursday
Seattle Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh slugged a homer and added a single as part of another nice day at the plate in Cactus League action against the Milwaukee Brewers. The 27-year-old increased his spring totals to a cool .400 average (8-for-20) with three homers, 10 RBI, and even a stolen base across 25 plate appearances, good for a 1.520 OPS in the small sample. Raleigh paced all big league backstops with 30 home runs in the 2023 season while adding 78 runs scored, 75 RBI, and a .762 OPS across 569 plate appearances, good for the fourth-most in baseball among catchers. Sat Mar 209:12Cal Raleigh Hits First Home Run Of Spring Wednesday
Seattle Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh blasted his first home run of the spring on Wednesday in a 9-7 Cactus League loss to the Kansas City Royals. It was a three-run shot off Royals relief pitcher Chris Stratton, and it was also his first hit of the spring. The switch-hitting backstop is now 1-for-3 with a walk, three RBI, and two runs scored in two Cactus League games. The home run came from the left side which has been his more powerful side throughout his career, with a .248 ISO as a lefty and a .170 ISO as a righty. The former third-round draft pick won't hit for a high average but with 30 HR last season and a 12.6% barrel rate, fantasy managers can count on the power numbers being there again in 2024.

Mon Aug 28 202318:42Cal Raleigh Out Of The Lineup Monday
Seattle Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh is not in the club's starting lineup Monday versus the Oakland A's and left-hander Kyle Muller. The switch-hitting backstop has struggled versus southpaws this season, hitting just .197 with a .611 OPS against them while his 66 wRC+ off lefties represents production 34% below the league average. Raleigh has nonetheless been on a tear of late, slugging 11 home runs since July 31 while driving in a hefty nine runs over his last six games. For the season, the 26-year-old is hitting .230 with 25 home runs, the latter of which paces all big-league catchers. Brian O'Keefe will get the starting behind the dish and hit ninth against Mullers Monday night in Seattle.
