Wed Sep 1800:28Shea Langeliers Hits Two More Homers Tuesday
Oakland Athletics catcher Shea Langeliers continued to flex his muscles in Tuesday's 4-3 win over the Cubs. Langeliers went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a two-run HR. The 26-year-old drilled a first-inning Jordan Wicks fastball into the left-center seats to plate two and got Wicks again deep to left field in the fifth inning. Langeliers has provided expected fantasy value this season, slashing .220/.280/.448 with 28 HR, 54 runs scored, 74 RBI, and four stolen bases in 500 plate appearances. He won't help fantasy managers in batting average, but catcher is such a weak position that Langeliers' power contributions make up for it.

Tue Sep 300:39Shea Langeliers Homers Twice, Including Walk-Off
Oakland Athletics catcher Shea Langeliers played the hero in Monday's 5-4 win over the Mariners. Langeliers went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run, a solo walk-off HR, and a strikeout. The 26-year-old crushed a third-inning Logan Gilbert hanging slider into the left-field seats to put the A's up 4-3. He later took the game into his own hands, drilling a ninth-inning Austin Voth breaking pitch deep down the left-field line to end the game. Langeliers has provided plenty of power throughout the season, but he has hit better overall in the second half, slashing .248/.333/.496 with eight HR and 18 RBI in 125 at-bats. Catcher is a shallow fantasy position, so fantasy managers will take any production. Langeliers could be a key player down the stretch if he can provide power and some batting average.

Thu Aug 2916:04Jacob Wilson, Shea Langeliers Out Against Reds
Oakland Athletics rookie shortstop Jacob Wilson and catcher Shea Langeliers are sitting out of Thursday's contest against the Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ball Park. Nick Allen will get the nod at shortstop for the A's and will hit in the nine-hole, while Kyle McCann will do the catching for rookie right-hander J.T. Ginn in his first big-league start against Reds right-hander Julian Aguiar. Wilson will get a day off after recently returning from the injured list due to a hamstring strain. The 22-year-old has gone 1-for-6 with an RBI and a run scored in his second and third big-league games this week. The team's top prospect will get the rest of the season as the club's starting shortstop and is worth rostering in most fantasy leagues. Langeliers needs one homer to set a new career-high in that category with 23 in his second full MLB season.

Wed Aug 1400:45Shea Langeliers Collects Four Hits, Four RBI Tuesday
Oakland Athletics catcher Shea Langeliers had a huge game at the plate in Tuesday's 9-4 win over the Mets. Langeliers went 4-for-4 with a single, two doubles, a three-run home run, and four RBI. He was also hit by a pitch. The 26-year-old crushed a third-inning Paul Blackburn changeup deep into the left-field seats to put the A's up 7-1. Langeliers has provided plenty of power out of a weak fantasy position, slashing .226/.288/.466 with 22 HR, 42 runs scored, and 61 RBI in 386 plate appearances. He has been much better overall since the All-Star break, slashing .286/.384/.603 in 63 at-bats. He could be a boost to fantasy managers' lineups down the stretch if he can keep that level of production up.

Oakland Athletics catcher Shea Langeliers hit his 17th home run on Saturday in a 19-8 victory over the Baltimore Orioles. Langeliers knocked in three runs on the day and also scored two runs. This marks two consecutive games in which the veteran catcher has homered. On the year, Langeliers is hitting .208 and has 17 home runs, 45 RBI, four stolen bases, and 31 runs scored. Sat Jun 2208:37Shea Langeliers Homers, Drives In Three Friday
Oakland Athletics catcher Shea Langeliers went 2-for-4 with a go-ahead two-run home run in a 6-5 win over the Twins on Friday. The home run was his 14th of the season, tied with Adley Rutschman for the most amongst all backstops, and his three RBI gave him 39 on the year. The former first-round draft pick is coming off a season in which he blasted 22 home runs on the back of a 13.3% Barrel%, and is currently on pace to blow past that number with his 17.1% (97th percentile) Barrel%. The 26-year-old doesn't hit for average as his current .207 BA is actually better than his BA from a season ago (.205). For what it's worth, Langeliers is batting .276 over his last eight games, which for him would be considered a hot stretch.

Fri May 3117:51Shea Langeliers Sitting On Friday
Oakland Athletics catcher Shea Langeliers is out of the starting lineup ahead of Friday's game against the Atlanta Braves. Fantasy managers don't need to panic as this appears to be a routine rest day for Langeliers. In his absence, Kyle McCann will cover behind the plate and bat sixth versus right-hander Reynaldo Lopez. McCann has been solid with the bat during his time in Oakland but isn't a great streaming option for Friday's game.

Thu May 1616:43Tyler Nevin, Shea Langeliers Resting On Thursday
Oakland Athletics first baseman Tyler Nevin and catcher Shea Langeliers are both getting a day off on Thursday in Houston against the Astros. Tyler Soderstrom will start at first base and bat cleanup, while Kyle McCann is doing the catching and will bat fifth against Astros right-hander Cristian Javier. Nevin had a nice little run in April but has gone 3-for-39 so far in the month of May, which has given Soderstrom more chances at first base. Soderstrom, meanwhile, has taken advantage by going 6-for-19 with a homer and three RBI in just six games played. This will be a regular off day for the 26-year-old Langeliers in a matinee affair. Langeliers has been much better in May, going 13-for-42 (.310) with three home runs and 11 RBI in 12 games to raise his season slash line to .218/.272/.496. McCann will be a DFS sleeper at catcher while he carries a .351 average (13-for-37) on the year with three home runs and eight RBI in just 15 games played.

This appears to be just a maintenance day off for Langeliers, who is hitting .333 with three home runs and 11 RBI in May thus far. Wed May 819:05Shea Langeliers Knocks In Five Runs
Oakland Athletics catcher Shea Langeliers was a force at the plate during Wednesday's game against the Texas Rangers. The young catcher went 3-for-5 with a home run and five RBI in the victory during Game 1 of their doubleheader. Langeliers blasted a two-run home run off Michael Lorenzen in the second inning before adding a two-run double in the fourth inning. The assumption is that Langeliers should be back in the lineup ahead of Game 2 of Wednesday's doubleheader. The 26-year-old has struggled throughout most of the season but maybe this will get him back on track.

Tue May 715:11Tyler Nevin, Shea Langeliers Sitting On Tuesday
Oakland Athletics corner infielder/outfielder Tyler Nevin and catcher Shea Langeliers are both starting on the bench on Tuesday against the visiting Texas Rangers. Nevin will head to the bench after going hitless in his last 14 at-bats. Despite his recent slump, the 26-year-old is still slashing a solid .277/.349/.426 on the year with four home runs, 10 RBI, a steal and 11 runs scored in 94 at-bats for the A's. Langeliers will get the day off in a day game after a night game. He's hitting just .179 (19-for-106) on the year but has shown nice power with seven homers and 16 RBI in the early going. Thu Apr 1112:25Shea Langeliers Getting A Breather In Day Game
Oakland Athletics catcher Shea Langeliers will get the day off on Thursday in the series finale against the division-rival Texas Rangers in a matinee contest. With Langeliers on the bench, Kyle McCann will catch left-hander JP Sears and hit in the nine-hole against Rangers right-hander Jon Gray. All three of Langeliers' hits in this series against the Rangers were home runs on Tuesday as he single-handedly helped the A's defeat the reigning World Series champions on the road that day. The 26-year-old backstop has four long balls on the year already and seven RBI, but otherwise he's hitting just .222 (8-for-36) with two walks and 11 strikeouts in 40 plate appearances. McCann is searching for his first big-league hit and should be avoided in DFS.

Wed Apr 1000:46Shea Langeliers Belts Three Homers Tuesday
Oakland Athletics catcher Shea Langeliers put his team's offense on his shoulders in Tuesday's 4-3 win over the Rangers. Langeliers went 3-for-4 with two solo home runs, a two-run HR, and a strikeout. The strong performance raised the 26-year-old's season slash line to .250/.306/.625 with four HR and seven RBI over 36 plate appearances. Fantasy managers may want to see more consistency from Langeliers before trusting him in shallower leagues, but the former top prospect could be kickstarting a useful offensive season.

Tue Aug 8 202321:30Shea Langeliers Absent From Tuesday's Lineup
Oakland Athletics catcher Shea Langeliers is out of the lineup for the matchup with Max Scherzer and the Texas Rangers Tuesday. The 25-year-old has struggled to a .201 average with 11 homers over 96 games. Tyler Soderstrom will do the catching instead and bat fifth. The rookie slugger has gotten off to a poor start to his Major League career, as he's slashing .173/.271/.231 with one home run through 17 games. Still, Soderstrom smashed 20 long balls across 69 contests at Triple-A this year and always has a chance to go yard as a streaming option in deeper leagues.

Sat Jul 15 202318:41Shea Langeliers On The Bench Saturday
Oakland Athletics backstop Shea Langeliers will begin Saturday's game against right-hander Pablo Lopez and the Minnesota Twins on the bench. The youngster has had his fair share of struggles with the bat, slashing .206/.267/.371 with 10 homers, 31 runs, and 33 RBI over 80 contests. Newly promoted Tyler Soderstrom will do the catching duties instead. The 21-year-old made his Major League debut on Friday and went 0-for-4. Soderstrom hit 20 dingers across 69 games in Triple-A this season, and fantasy managers in any format can add the rookie for some power help.

Wed May 17 202312:40Shea Langeliers, Jordan Diaz Out Against D-Backs
Oakland Athletics catcher Shea Langeliers and outfielder Jordan Diaz are taking the day off on Wednesday against the Arizona Diamondbacks. With Langeliers and Diaz out, Carlos Perez is doing the catching and hitting fifth, while Tony Kemp is starting at the keystone and is batting eighth in the lineup against Diamondbacks right-hander Ryne Nelson. Langeliers is hitting only .226 (30-for-133) on the year in 37 games (149 plate appearances), but he does have seven home runs and 20 RBI, which is solid production from the catching position. Diaz has cooled off at the plate after a nice start and is now hitting .219 (14-for-64) in 22 games this year with a double, four home runs and eight RBI in 66 plate appearances.

Sat Apr 29 202314:57Shea Langeliers Taking A Trip To The Bench Saturday
Oakland Athletics backstop Shea Langeliers is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against Hunter Greene and the Cincinnati Reds. The 25-year-old has shown solid power over his first 24 games in 2023, slashing .233/.298/.488 with six home runs, 13 runs, and 16 RBI. Carlos Perez will do the catching duties and bat cleanup in Langeliers' absence. He's had a strong start to the campaign, batting .394 with one homer across 16 games. However, Perez has never been good with the bat, proved by his .596 career OPS. Fantasy managers are likely better off streaming someone with a more impressive track record.

Tue Apr 18 202321:17Shea Langeliers Getting A Breather Tuesday
Oakland Athletics backstop Shea Langeliers is sitting on the bench for Tuesday's matchup against Marcus Stroman and the Chicago Cubs. The rookie has been a bright spot for the club, as he's slashing .269/.321/.481 with three homers, seven runs, and eight RBI over 15 games. Instead, it'll be Carlos Perez behind the plate. The 32-year-old's putting up impressive numbers with a .563 batting average and one home run through 10 games, but given his career .596 OPS, fantasy managers should take his numbers with a grain of salt. There are catchers on the waiver wire who can provide better offensive production.

Tue Apr 4 202321:17Shea Langeliers Taking A Seat Tuesday
Oakland Athletics catcher Shea Langeliers is absent from Tuesday's starting lineup against the Cleveland Guardians, according to MLB.com. He started the first four games of the season and has posted a .200 average with no extra-base hits thus far. Instead, it will be Carlos Perez behind the dish and batting eighth. The 32-year-old hasn't been known for hitting throughout parts of five seasons in the bigs, as he owns a .216/.258/.320 slash line with four stolen bases. It's safe to say that fantasy managers should ignore Perez in all leagues, even for a streaming option.
