Tue Sep 1717:42Guardians Place Steven Kwan On 10-Day Injured List
The Cleveland Guardians placed outfielder Steven Kwan (back) on the 10-day injured list on Tuesday and selected the contract of outfielder Myles Straw from Triple-A Columbus in a corresponding move. The Guardians also designated veteran right-hander Carlos Carrasco for assignment. The Guardians were hoping to avoid putting Kwan on the IL, but they made the move after the 27-year-old missed five straight games with back discomfort. The good news is that Kwan isn't dealing with any structural damage, so the hope is that he can return at the tail end of the regular season before the playoffs begin in October. Cleveland is starting Angel Martinez, Lane Thomas and Will Brennan in the outfield from left to right against Minnesota Twins right-hander Zebby Matthews. Kwan has hit .291/.364/.419 with 13 homers and 12 steals, so he'll be missed tremendously in the batting order over the next 10 days.

Mon Sep 1616:02Steven Kwan Remains Out On Monday
Cleveland Guardians outfielder Steven Kwan (back) remains out of the starting lineup for Monday's series finale against the division-rival Minnesota Twins at Progressive Field. Rookie Angel Martinez will make another start in left field and will bat leadoff against Twins right-hander Pablo Lopez. Kwan was scratched from Friday's lineup against the Tampa Bay Rays and missed the entire weekend series with what was originally called general body fatigue. It later surfaced that Kwan is dealing with back soreness, although it's not expected to be serious enough to land him on the injured list. After tests came back negative, Kwan was deemed day-to-day. Fantasy managers will need to keep him out of their lineups and check back to see if he's feeling good enough to play on Tuesday. In his first 33 big-league games this year, Martinez is hitting .241 (28-for-116) with three homers, nine RBI and three steals.

Mon Sep 1612:09Steven Kwan Dealing With Back Soreness
Cleveland Guardians outfielder Steven Kwan (back) was scratched from the starting lineup on Friday due to back soreness and missed the entire weekend series against the Tampa Bay Rays. The good news is Kwan's scans came back clear, and the Guardians are hopeful he will avoid a trip to the injured list. Fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day for now and check back to see if he's active for the series opener on Monday at Progressive Field against the division-rival Minnesota Twins. The 27-year-old was initially listed with general body fatigue as the reason why he sat out over the weekend. The Guardians can ill-afford to lose Kwan down the stretch as they look to close out the year with a the American League Central title. Kwan is currently in the midst of a modest four-game hitting streak in which he's gone 5-for-13 with six walks, three strikeouts and a stolen base.

Sun Sep 1513:33Steven Kwan Remains Out On Sunday
Cleveland Guardians outfielder Steven Kwan (fatigue) remains out on Sunday due to general body fatigue. The outfielder has been kept out of the starting nine all weekend due to minor fatigue. Fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day heading into next week. With the Guardians currently leading the AL Central, they will lean on the side of caution with their star outfielder before October. As a result, Angel Martinez will cover left field on Sunday afternoon and bat in the leadoff spot. Martinez went 0-for-3 yesterday but will continue to receive opportunities while Kwan remains out.

Fri Sep 1318:57Steven Kwan Scratched On Friday
Cleveland Guardians outfielder Steven Kwan (undisclosed) has been scratched ahead of Friday's game against the Tampa Bay Rays. It sounds like Kwan is being pulled from the game due to body fatigue. This should be a minor issue that only keeps Kwan out for a day or two. In the meantime, Daniel Schneemann will play left field and bat leadoff against right-hander Zack Littell. Schneemann hasn't been much of a fantasy option with a .227 batting average and 21 RBI on the season.

Tue Aug 1310:20Steven Kwan Connects On 13th Homer This Season
Cleveland Guardians outfielder Steven Kwan hit his 13th homer of the season in the team's 9-8 win over the Cubs on Monday. Kwan, long known as a contact hitter who does not strike out, has provided unexpected power this season. His 13 homers are more than he hit the last two full seasons combined (11 homers in 2022 and 2023 combined). With a slash line of .326/.386/.485 Kwan is having the most productive season of his career. At 26 years old, the breakout is not surprising but is still rewarding for fantasy managers who waited out an IL stint this season to see him return in a big way.

Tue Aug 615:34Steven Kwan Out Of Lineup On Tuesday
The Cleveland Guardians will give outfielder Steven Kwan a rest on Tuesday against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Kwan, second in the majors with a .334 batting average, is replaced in the lineup by rookie Angel Martinez, who is batting eighth in the order. Kwan is enjoying a breakout season that has seen him hit 11 homers, 32 RBI, 64 runs scored, and nine stolen bases in 13 attempts while also sporting a .392 OBP and a .487 slugging percentage. Daily fantasy managers will need to look elsewhere for production while fantasy managers in traditional formats will adjust to not having Kwan in the lineup for a night.

Sun Jul 2816:48Steven Kwan Hits Go-Ahead Homer In Guardians' Win Over Phillies
Cleveland Guardians outfielder Steven Kwan hit his 11th home run of the season in the team's 4-3 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies. Kwan's homer came in the seventh inning and proved to be the difference in Cleveland's win. Kwan is hitting .342 with those 11 homers and 30 RBI in 79 games. Kwan is much-improved in the power department already matching his combined homer total from the past two years combined. The power surge makes Kwan one of the most valuable fantasy performers when healthy.

Sat Jul 623:11Steven Kwan Tallies Two Hits, Launches Ninth Long Ball On Saturday
Cleveland Guardians outfielder Steven Kwan went 2-for-4 with a single and his ninth home run of the campaign on Saturday to lead the Guardians to a victory. The 26-year-old currently boats an incredible .365/.421/.542 slash line with four swiped bags, 27 RBI, and a 21:22 BB:K ratio. Since June 1, the Oregon State product has tallied a remarkable 39 total hits in 27 games. Under the hood, Kwan holds a .316 xBA, which places him in the top 98th percentile among all hitters. In addition, he holds a 5.9% whiff rate and 8.1% K rate, which are currently the best marks in the sport. Kwan should be considered the top producer in batting average going forward and could finish with a 20/20 season if he continues to showcase his power.

Fri Jul 508:55Steven Kwan Continues Impressive Season
Cleveland Guardians outfielder Steven Kwan continued his career-year with a 3-for-4 performance in Thursday's victory versus the Chicago White Sox. Kwan also drew a walk in the contest and hit his eighth home run of the season. Kwan entered the season as an afterthought in most drafts, but he has performed as one of the best offensive players in the game during the first-half of the 2024 season. Kwan's big performance raises his batting average to .367 on the season and he has also driven 26 runs and crossed home plate 50 times. Managers holding Kwan should continue to roster him as he has become a true difference maker with his ability to constantly rack up hits, while showing some power in the process. One of the best draft day values this season, Kwan is a must-start in all formats.

Sun Jun 2307:05Steven Kwan Homers In Win Over Toronto
Cleveland Guardians outfielder Steven Kwan continued his recent hot hitting in a 6-3 win over the Toronto Blue Jays on Saturday. Kwan went 2-for-4 with a double and a solo homer to help power the Guardians to their second consecutive win over Toronto. The 26-year-old's solo shot came off Blue Jays starter Jose Berrios in the fifth inning, giving Cleveland a 5-2 lead. Kwan's homer tied his previous career high of six, which he set back in his rookie year in 2022. Sun Jun 906:29Steven Kwan Goes Yard On Saturday
Cleveland Guardians outfielder Steven Kwan went 2-for-3 with two walks, a homer, two runs, and two RBI in an 8-0 win over the Miami Marlins on Saturday. Kwan hit a two-run homer in the fifth inning to extend Cleveland's lead to 4-0, a blast that traveled 381 feet and had an exit velocity of 96.5 MPH. Despite missing almost a month of the season with a hamstring strain, the veteran leadoff hitter is having an excellent season, batting .371 with four homers, 36 runs, 14 RBI, and three steals in 151 at-bats. He remains a quality fantasy outfielder option in all leagues.

Sat Jun 100:20Steven Kwan Records Three Hits In Return From Injured List
Cleveland Guardian outfielder Steven Kwan (hamstring) went 3-for-4 with three singles, one RBI, and one walk in a 7-1 victory against the Washington Nationals on Friday night after returning from the injured list. If you didn't think the red-hot Guardians couldn't get any better think again. Their pesky everyday leadoff hitter with a .365 batting average on the season has returned after nearly missing an entire month's worth of games. Although the Guardians haven't needed his bat in May with their 19-9 record and an average of five runs per game, Kwan is a welcome site atop any lineup. Kwan will not provide you much in the power and RBI department, but should continue to provide a solid batting average, OBP, and runs scored to satisfy any fantasy baseball lineup.

Fri May 3116:00Steven Kwan Activated And Starting Friday
The Cleveland Guardians activated outfielder Steven Kwan (hamstring) from the 10-day injured list on Friday after he spent 23 yards on the sidelines and designated outfielder Estevan Florial in a corresponding move. Kwan, a two-time Gold Glove left fielder, will slot in immediately in his customary leadoff spot for Cleveland on Friday in the series opener against the visiting Washington Nationals and left-hander Patrick Corbin. The 26-year-old has recovered from the left-hamstring strain he suffered on May 4 and should be returned to all starting fantasy lineups immediately. Kwan was leading the American League in hits, batting average, fewest strikeouts per plate appearance and multi-hit games before getting hurt. In four minor-league rehab games at Double-A Akron and Triple-A Columbus, he had two hits (one homer) and four RBI.

Fri May 3112:52Steven Kwan Fills Up Box Score In Rehab Outing
Cleveland Guardians outfielder Steven Kwan (hamstring) appears to be on the verge of being reinstated from the 10-day injured list. The 26-year-old outfielder went 1-for-2 with an RBI, three runs scored, a stolen base and two walks in a minor-league rehab game with Triple-A Columbus on Thursday. Kwan played in two games for High-A Lake County before moving his rehab assignment to Columbus. If the Guardians have seen enough from Kwan in the minors, they could certainly activate him from the injured list in time to return to the starting lineup for Friday's series opener against the Washington Nationals. Once he's back, Kwan will be a must-start in all fantasy formats. The former fifth-rounder in 2018 out of Oregon State uses a contact-based approach at the plate and is currently slashing an exceptional .353/.407/.496 with a .903 OPS in 133 at-bats in 2024.

Mon May 2716:14Steven Kwan On The Cusp Of A Return
Cleveland Guardians outfielder Steven Kwan (hamstring) will start in left field and play six to eight innings for Triple-A Columbus on Monday, according to manager Stephen Vogt. Kwan began his minor-league rehab assignment on Saturday with High-A Lake County and will play in his third straight game on Monday. If the 26-year-old outfielder doesn't have any setbacks with his hamstring on Monday, he could return to the Cleveland lineup later this week, perhaps for the start of a series on Friday at home against the Washington Nationals. Kwan should not be available on any waiver wire, as he's been one of the most consistent hitters in the majors in 2024. He's currently batting .353 (47-for-133) with three home runs, 11 RBI, three stolen bases and 28 runs scored. There's not much power or RBI production, but Kwan is an excellent source of average and on-base percentage.

Sat May 2500:00Steven Kwan Will Begin Rehab Assignment Saturday
Cleveland Guardians manager Stephen Vogt said prior to Friday's game against the Los Angeles Angels that outfielder Steven Kwan (hamstring) will begin a minor-league rehab assignment at High-A Lake County on Saturday. Kwan is also scheduled to play on Sunday, so he could be ready to come off the injured list as early as Monday's series opener against the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field. Vogt did say the team will take it "a day at a time" in determining the length of Kwan's rehab stint, though. Before suffering a strained left hamstring, the 26-year-old contact specialist was batting a scorching .353 (47-for-133) with three home runs, 11 RBI, 23 runs scored, and three stolen bases over 32 games as Cleveland's everyday leadoff hitter, and he needs to be stashed in all leagues with a return on the horizon.

Cleveland Guardians outfielder Steven Kwan (hamstring) is set to begin a minor-league rehab assignment within the next seven to 10 days. The left-handed slugger was able to take batting practice on Friday. He appears to be making solid progress from a hamstring strain he suffered in early May. The expectation is that he'll need a few minor league games before returning to the big league lineup. Fantasy managers should expect Kwan back around early June.

Sat May 1800:04Steven Kwan Resumes Baseball Activities Friday
Cleveland Guardians outfielder Steven Kwan (hamstring) took batting practice ahead of Friday's game against the division-rival Minnesota Twins. It's Kwan's first baseball activity since suffering a strained left hamstring, which is a positive step forward in his road to recovery. Manager Stephen Vogt said that Kwan has also been running relatively pain-free, but the team doesn't have a specific timetable for his return just yet. As it stands, fantasy managers can anticipate the 26-year-old contact-hitting left fielder rejoining the Guardians' outfield sometime in early June. Before heading to the injured list, Kwan was batting a sizzling .353 (47-for-133) with three home runs, 11 RBI, 23 runs scored, and three stolen bases over 32 games as Cleveland's everyday leadoff hitter, and he needs to be stashed in all leagues.

Mon May 614:58Steven Kwan Set To Miss Four Weeks With Hamstring Injury
Cleveland Guardians outfielder Steven Kwan (hamstring) is expected to miss four weeks with an acute hamstring strain, according to Mandy Bell of MLB.com. Kwan left Saturday's 7-1 win over the Los Angeles Angels with hamstring tightness in the top of the fourth inning. However, an MRI revealed a strain for the outfielder, which will cause him to be out for approximately one month. The 26-year-old has been one of the best hitters this season, batting .353 with three home runs, 11 RBI, six doubles, and two triples in 32 games. Fantasy managers should place him in one of their injured list spots and expect a return sometime at the beginning of June.
