Sat Aug 2412:38Andrew Nardi Lands On 15-Day Injured List
The Miami Marlins placed left-hander Andrew Nardi (elbow) on the 15-day injured list (retroactive to Aug. 22) on Saturday with a left-elbow muscle injury and recalled right-hander George Soriano from Triple-A Jacksonville in a corresponding move. Nardi got beat up in his last appearance against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Wednesday and could have been hurting then. The 26-year-old southpaw now has a 5.07 ERA (3.33 FIP) and a 1.25 WHIP with 70 strikeouts and 18 walks in 49 2/3 innings out of Miami's bullpen in 2024 in his third year in the big leagues. It's unclear if he'll be ready to go when his 15 days are up, but Nardi is not on the fantasy radar. Soriano, 25, has been even worse in his 19 2/3 innings in the big leagues this year, allowing 16 earned runs while walking nine and striking out 18 in 15 relief appearances.

Fri Jul 2612:34Andrew Nardi, Huascar Brazoban Could Become Save Options
Kaushik Sampath of the Miami Herald writes that Miami Marlins relief pitchers Andrew Nardi and Huascar Brazoban could both be options to take over the team's closer role for the rest of the 2024 season if the team trades current closer Tanner Scott before next Tuesday's MLB trade deadline. The Marlins sent lefty reliever A.J. Puk to the Arizona Diamondbacks on Thursday night. Nardi, like Scott, is a left-hander. The 25-year-old has a rough 5.03 ERA on the year, mainly after giving up eight runs in his first four outings of the season. But he's been much better since then and has fanned 51 hitters in 39 1/3 frames on the year. The 34-year-old Brazoban has also been much better of late and has a 3.14 ERA and 1.08 WHIP on the year with 31 K's and 11 walks in 28 2/3 innings. Nardi is probably the favorite for saves when/if Scott is traded, so fantasy managers scrounging for saves may want to grab him off the waiver wire now.

Thu Aug 31 202308:45Andrew Nardi Leaves Wednesday's Game Early
Miami Marlins left-hander Andrew Nardi (hand) exited Wednesday's contest against the Tampa Bay Rays prematurely after taking a comebacker off his left hand. The X-rays came back negative, but there's still a chance the 25-year-old will need time on the injured list. Nardi is having a breakout season in the bullpen, pitching to a 2.91 ERA and 1.04 WHIP with 62 strikeouts, two saves, and 12 holds across 46 1/3 innings. Fantasy managers can stash the sophomore if there's roster room in hold formats, but with Tanner Scott in the closer role, he's droppable in all standard leagues.

Fri Jul 28 202319:59Andrew Nardi Could Return On Tuesday
Miami Marlins left-hander Andrew Nardi (triceps) will continue his minor-league rehab assignment and throw one inning for Triple-A Jacksonville on Friday after tossing a scoreless frame on Tuesday. Manager Skip Schumaker said that Nardi could be activated from the injured list next Tuesday, Aug. 1. He's been on the injured list since the Fourth of July, but the Marlins bullpen will be getting him back soon. Before landing on the injured list, the 24-year-old southpaw had a 6-1 record, 3.19 ERA (4.14 FIP), 1.12 WHIP, his first two major-league saves, seven holds, 11 walks and 48 strikeouts in 36 2/3 relief innings in his second big-league season.

Tue Jul 4 202317:28Marlins Put Andrew Nardi On Injured List
The Miami Marlins placed left-handed reliever Andrew Nardi (triceps) on the 15-day injured list on Tuesday with left-triceps inflammation and recalled pitcher George Soriano from the minors in a corresponding move. Nardi has been a pretty big asset for the Marlins' bullpen so far this year, as he's gone 6-1 with a 3.19 ERA (4.14 FIP), 1.12 WHIP, his first two career saves, 11 walks and 48 strikeouts in 36 2/3 innings pitched over 41 relief appearances in just his second big-league season. The 24-year-old southpaw will be out at least a couple weeks, but the injury comes at a good time with the All-Star break coming next week. Nardi will be eligible to return from the injured list on July 19.

Mon Jun 19 202301:03Andrew Nardi Notches Rare Save Sunday
Miami Marlins left-handed pitcher Andrew Nardi picked up his second save of the season in a 4-2 win over the Washington Nationals. Nardi allowed just a hit while firing a pair of strikeouts in his inning of work. Although Nardi has been good this season, the only reason he was in for the save today was that A.J. Puk worked the previous two days and Dylan Floro faced the top of the Nats order in the eighth inning. He remains third on the pecking order for saves and doesn't need to be rostered in traditional leagues.

Mon May 8 202309:05Andrew Nardi Picks Up His First Save Sunday
Miami Marlins left-hander Andrew Nardi earned his first save of 2023 in Sunday's 14-inning marathon against the Chicago Cubs. He threw a perfect frame with one strikeout to protect the 5-4 lead. Nardi owns a 4.60 ERA this season but has posted a strong 28.1% strikeout rate and 1.15 WHIP over 15.2 innings. AJ Puk, Dylan Floro, and Tanner Scott all pitched earlier in the game on Sunday, so the 24-year-old was one of the final options in the club's bullpen. Fantasy managers can't expect Nardi to see many more save opportunities the rest of the way.
