Harvey, a 2005 second-round pick, had a 4.50 ERA and 54/27 K/BB ratio over 64 innings with the Marlins' High-A and Double-A affiliates last year. The 28-year-old converted outfielder will function as organizational depth. |

Fri Jul 30 2010 | 18:20 | Marlins outright Harvey to Double-A |
Marlins outrighted RHP Kris Harvey to Double-A Jacksonville. |
The 26-year-old right-hander had to clear waivers after getting designated for assignment and losing his spot on the 40-man roster earlier this week. Harvey was drafted in the second round in 2005 as an outfielder, but started pitching full time in 2009. He has a ways to go before reaching his projected ceiling -- major league middle reliever. |
Tue Jul 27 2010 | 17:18 | Marlins activate Harvey for assignment |
Marlins designated RHP Kris Harvey for assignment. |
Harvey was drafted in the second round in 2005 as an outfielder, but started pitching full time in 2009. The 26-year-old right-hander earned a promotion this season after posting six scoreless appearances with High-A Jupiter, but has a lousy 6.94 ERA and 1.89 WHIP in nine appearances with Double-A Jacksonville. He still has the potential to be a set-up man in the big leagues, but isn't close to a finished product. |
