Wed Jun 2612:10Nolan Arenado Ready To Go On Wednesday
After the St. Louis Cardinals' game against the visiting Atlanta Braves was postponed on Tuesday due to rain, third baseman Nolan Arenado (forearm) is back in the starting lineup on Wednesday to face right-hander Reynaldo Lopez in Game 1 of a doubleheader. The 33-year-old All-Star has been beat up lately with forearm and elbow injuries, but he's back in action on Wednesday. However, there's a good chance Arenado will be held out for Game 2 against Atlanta. He's also hitting sixth in the batting order, which is the lowest he's hit in St. Louis' lineup in his four years with the team. The former second-rounder by the Colorado Rockies in 2009 has been struggling offensively in 2024 and enters Wednesday's double dip with a .257/.315/.371 slash line with only six home runs, 32 RBI and 26 runs scored in his 272 at-bats. Arenado has never faced Lopez in his career.

Tue Jun 2517:36Nolan Arenado Returns To Cardinals Lineup
St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado (forearm) is back at third base and is batting sixth in the order on Tuesday against the visiting Atlanta Braves and right-hander Reynaldo Lopez. Arenado has been beat up of late and missed the team's last two games due to left-forearm soreness. He also missed a game last week after being hit by a pitch in the elbow. The 33-year-old All-Star is back in there, though, albeit a little further down the batting order as he tries to turn his season around at the plate. Arenado has tailed off in the batting average department the last two years and is currently slashing only .257/.315/.371 with six home runs, 32 RBI and 26 runs scored in 71 games played. Fantasy managers shouldn't be expecting a return to the 30-homer mark in 2024 unless he goes on an absolutely crazy run at some point. He has never faced Lopez in his career.

Mon Jun 2418:02Cardinals Hoping Nolan Arenado Can Return Mid-Week
The St. Louis Cardinals are hopeful that third baseman Nolan Arenado (forearm) will be able to avoid a stint on the injured list while dealing with left forearm nerve irritation, according to manager Oliver Marmol. Arenado has been battling the issue for some time but he reported feeling better on Monday, and the team hopes he can return to the lineup by the middle of the week. The 33-year-old All-Star is missing a second straight game on Monday against the visiting Atlanta Braves. Veteran Brandon Crawford is making another start at the hot corner and is batting eighth against Braves rookie right-hander Spencer Schwellenbach. Crawford has become a backup at this point in his career and is a poor DFS choice near the bottom of the lineup. He's also hitting just .196 (9-for-46) in his first year in St. Louis with a homer and three RBI.

Sun Jun 2312:43Nolan Arenado Sitting On Sunday
St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado (forearm) is not in the team's starting lineup on Sunday against the visiting San Francisco Giants and right-hander Logan Webb. Veteran Brandon Crawford will get the start at third base and will bat eighth against his former team. After missing a game this week already due to an elbow injury, Arenado is out of the lineup again after leaving Saturday's contest early with pain in his left forearm. Fantasy managers will want to check back on Monday to see if he's active for the series opener against the visiting Atlanta Braves. The 33-year-old veteran has been very mediocre for fantasy managers this year and is hitting .258 (17-for-66) with a homer, three triples, six RBI, a stolen base and four runs scored in 18 games in the month of June. Crawford should be avoided as a DFS sleeper in the eight-hole.

Sat Jun 2218:02Nolan Arenado Leaves Game Early Saturday Afternoon With Injury
St. Louis Cardinals star third baseman Nolan Arenado (forearm) left the Saturday afternoon game against the San Francisco Giants. He left the game due to left forearm discomfort, and there was no more information available after the game. This injury was not related to the hit-by-pitch Arenado suffered earlier in the week against Miami. It seemed he was in discomfort after being jammed on a pitch and grounding out. Jose Fermin replaced Arenado in the lineup. Arenado is hitting .257 with six home runs, 32 RBI, and 26 runs scored in 272 at-bats. Should he be forced to miss time, perhaps Brendan Donovan could slide over to third base.

Sat Jun 2212:34Nolan Arenado Returns On Saturday
After an off day on Friday, St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado (elbow) is back in the starting lineup on Saturday to face the visiting San Francisco Giants and right-hander Jordan Hicks. Arenado left Wednesday's game early after being hit by a pitch in his left elbow and sat out of Thursday's game at Rickwood Field as a precaution. Now that he's back after a one-game absence, Arenado will look to stay rather hot in the month of June. In 17 games since June 1, he's hitting .270 (17-for-63) with a homer, three doubles, six RBI, one stolen base and four runs scored. Overall in 70 games in 2024, the eight-time All-Star has been rather mediocre at the plate, slashing .260/.315/.375 with six long balls, 32 RBI and 26 runs scored in 298 trips to the plate. Arenado has a hit in his only career at-bat against Hicks.

Thu Jun 2016:14Nolan Arenado Out For Rickwood Game
St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado (elbow) is not in the team's starting lineup for Thursday's Negro Leagues tribute at Rickwood Field in Alabama against the San Francisco Giants. Veteran Brandon Crawford will make the start at third base in Arenado's absence and will bat seventh against Giants right-hander Keaton Winn. Arenado was hit by a pitch on his elbow in Wednesday's contest, and while X-rays returned negative for any significant damage to his arm, he's not aiming to return to the starting lineup until Saturday's game against the Giants after an off day on Friday. Like many of St. Louis' hitters in 2024, Arenado has disappointed most of his fantasy managers this year, but he's been slightly better in June by hitting .270 (17-for-63) with a homer, three doubles, six RBI and a stolen base in 17 games played. Crawford is nearing the end of his career and is a poor DFS replacement at the hot corner.

Wed May 2912:19Nolan Arenado Getting A Breather Wednesday
St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado is getting the day off on Wednesday versus the division-rival Cincinnati Reds. With Arenado on the bench, Brendan Donovan will shift over to third base and hit leadoff against Reds right-hander Frankie Montas. It was nice to see Arenado hit just his fourth home run of the year in the contest against the Reds on Tuesday, but he'll get the day off to rest with a scheduled off day coming on Thursday before St. Louis starts a weekend series on Friday in Philadelphia against the Phillies. The 33-year-old is hitting .257 (52-for-202) on the year with 25 RBI and 21 stolen bases, and his fantasy managers are hoping his power display on Tuesday will lead to more consistent power moving forward. Donovan is one of the better contact hitters in the league but is only batting .235 (47-for-200) on the year.

Wed May 2900:08Nolan Arenado Hits Fourth Homer Of Season Tuesday
St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado had a nice game at the plate in Tuesday's 7-1 win over the Reds. Arenado went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run and a walk. The 33-year-old lined a fourth-inning Andrew Abbott fastball into the left-field seats for his fourth home run of the season. Arenado's offensive numbers have looked normal this season except for a significant lack of power, as he is now slashing .257/.311/.366 with 25 RBI in 222 plate appearances. He normally impacts the ball pretty well, but his average exit velocity and hard-hit rate are in the bottom 10 percent of baseball. Hopefully, this oddity will right itself over time and Arenado will return to providing power for fantasy managers.

Sun May 1212:53Nolan Arenado Gets First Day Off
St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado is getting his first day off of the season on Sunday in the series finale against the division-rival Milwaukee Brewers. In the first 39 games of the season, Arenado, much like the rest of St. Louis' lineup, has struggled with a career-low .703 OPS. The 33-year-old eight-time All-Star is slashing .270/.331/.372 with two home runs, nine doubles, 20 RBI and 14 runs scored in 166 plate appearances. In the first three games of the series against the Brewers, had one hit in 12 at-bats with three strikeouts. Fantasy managers will be hoping Arenado's first day off of the year can get him going. Brendan Donovan is starting at third base on Sunday and is hitting seventh against Brewers right-hander Bryse Wilson. Donovan is hitting .429 with two RBI in seven career at-bats against Wilson.

Sun May 509:53Nolan Arenado With A Home Run, Three RBI Saturday
St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado reached base five times in five plate appearances in Saturday's 6-5 loss to the White Sox. The veteran went 3-for-3 at the plate with a home run, two singles, and two walks, raising his season slashline to .296/.362/.408. The 33-year-old is having a solid season overall, although somewhat underwhelming based on the Arenado we've grown accustomed to. The 8x All-Star has seen his home run, RBI, and run totals drop in consecutive years now. With a 1.9% Barrel% this season, a career-low by far, the home runs may come few and far between, just like this last one. Saturday's home run was Arenado's first since April 12. He should remain a solid fantasy contributor nonetheless, so you're still using him in season-long formats.

Fri Mar 117:21Nolan Arenado Goes Without A Hit Friday
St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado went hitless with one strikeout in two plate appearances during a 3-2 win over the New York Mets on Friday. The veteran began his spring by collecting four hits, including two doubles, across his first three games but is now hitless over his last two Grapefruit League contests. He is now hitting .364 with two RBI, one run, and a .909 OPS across 11 trips to the plate this spring. After an MVP-caliber 2022 season, Arenado's bat predictably regressed in the 2023 season. That said, the 32-year-old still hit .266 with 24 home runs and 93 RBI across 144 games played, his fewest in a full season since 2014. His underlying metrics were concerning but he should still be able to provide quality production at the hot corner for fantasy managers this season.

Mon Feb 1918:32Nolan Arenado Takes Batting Practice Monday
St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado (back) was scheduled to take live batting practice at spring training on Monday. Arenado appears to be fully healthy at camp after ending the 2023 campaign on the injured list due to lower back spasms. The 32-year-old eight-time All-Star took pilates in the offseason and lost some weight after ending last season with an injury. His third year in St. Louis was a slight disappointment offensively, as he hit .266/.315/.459 with 26 home runs, 26 doubles, two triples, 93 RBI, three steals and 71 runs scored in 144 games played. Arenado remains a top-10 fantasy third baseman, but it's a bit concerning that he saw drops in average exit velocity, barrel rate and hard-hit percentage in 2023. Fantasy managers expecting him to return to the glory days are probably expecting too much.

Sat Sep 23 202310:17Cardinals Place Nolan Arenado On Injured List
The St. Louis Cardinals put third baseman Nolan Arenado (back) on the 10-day injured list due to lower-back spasms on Friday, ending his season. And thus brings to a close an inconsistent season for the 34-year-old, who bookended his year with two month-long slumps to start and finish it but offered strong hitting in between. It led to a respectable .266/.315/.459 slash line with 26 home runs, 93 RBI, and 26 doubles in 560 at-bats. Arenado always figures to identify a bit more with his glove, but his status as a perennial All-Star should keep him as a fixture in the top-third of 2024 fantasy drafts. He's as a good a bet as any for 30 homers and 100 RBI in any given year, and a formidable Cardinals lineup will look to rebound in 2024.

Wed Sep 20 202316:52Nolan Arenado Getting A Breather Wednesday
St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado is taking the day off on Wednesday against the division-rival Milwaukee Brewers. With Arenado getting a breather, Juniel Querecuto will get the start at third base for the Cards and bat in the eight-hole against Brewers right-hander Adrian Houser. St. Louis is giving the 32-year-old All-Star some rest after the club was officially eliminated from playoff contention after their loss on Tuesday. Arenado is hitting .268/.317/.461 with 26 home runs, 93 RBI, three stolen bases and 71 runs scored in 557 at-bats in 2023 in his third year with the team. However, he's been slowing down of late and has gone 14-for-64 (.219) with no homers, two doubles, six RBI, nine strikeouts, a steal and 10 runs scored in 16 starts in the month of September.

Sun Aug 27 202312:02Nolan Arenado Back In Lineup On Sunday
St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado (back) is serving as the designated hitter and is batting cleanup on Sunday against the Philadelphia Phillies and right-hander Aaron Nola. Arenado left Friday night's game early with lower-back tightness and sat out on Saturday, but he's feeling better now and will return for the series finale. Taylor Motter is starting at the hot corner and will bat in the nine-hole. In 15 career at-bats against Nola, Arenado is hitting .200 with one RBI. The eight-time All-Star is a must-start in fantasy lineups, and he's hitting .289 (24-for-83) with four home runs, four doubles, 10 RBI and 12 runs scored in 21 starts in the month of August.

Sat Aug 26 202316:46Nolan Arenado Out Of The Lineup On Saturday
St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado (back) is out of the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Philadelphia Phillies. This comes a day after the veteran slugger left Friday's game due to back tightness. That being said, this appears to be a rest game to give Arenado another day to get back to full speed. Fantasy managers shouldn't have to worry about Arenado requiring a trip to the injured list. In his absence, Nolan Gorman will cover third base and bat cleanup versus right-hander Zack Wheeler on Saturday.

Fri Aug 25 202322:28Nolan Arenado Leaves With Lower-Back Tightness
St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado (back) left Friday night's game early against the Philadelphia Phillies due to lower-back tightness. Before leaving prematurely, Arenado went hitless in three at-bats to drop his season average to .281. He was replaced at the hot corner by Taylor Motter, who shifted over from second base. Fantasy managers should consider Arenado day-to-day for now, but there's a good chance he won't be in Saturday's lineup. The 32-year-old eight-time All-Star came into Friday's contest hitting .283/.331/.506 with an .838 OPS, 26 home runs, 87 RBI and 60 runs scored in 519 plate appearances and 122 games. If Arenado is forced to miss time, Motter will likely remain in the everyday lineup for St. Louis.

Thu Aug 3 202315:48Nolan Arenado Resting Against Twins
St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado is taking Thursday's game off against the visiting Minnesota Twins. With Arenado riding pine, rookie outfielder Jordan Walker will bat in the cleanup spot for the Cardinals against Twins right-hander Sonny Gray. Taylor Motter is at third base and is batting in the nine-hole. It's a normal day of rest for Arenado, who should be right back in the starting lineup for the start of a series on Friday against the visiting Colorado Rockies. Arenado is a must-start in fantasy when he's playing, but he's gone 3-for-26 with no homers, a double, one RBI and one run scored in his last seven games. Walker has also been cold in his last seven games with four hits in 21 at-bats.

Sat Jul 29 202321:32Cardinals Not Trading Nolan Arenado
According to St. Louis Cardinals general manager John Mozeliak, star third baseman Nolan Arenado will not be traded. "I have stated we are not trading him, have not asked him to waive his no-trade clause," said Mozeliak. "So, at this time, we are working on building for future success." With the Cardinals selling, there were rumors of Arenado being moved ahead of the MLB Trade Deadline on Monday. Los Angeles Dodgers were one of the teams that contacted the Cardinals about possibly acquiring Arenado. The 32-year-old will remain in St. Louis for the time being. Arenado is slashing .284/.332/.517 with 22 home runs, 77 RBI, 48 runs, and two stolen bases over 100 games in 2023.
