Fri Sep 1319:40Jose Altuve Back On Friday
Houston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve (side) has returned to second base and is hitting leadoff on Friday in the series opener against the division-rival Los Angeles Angels and rookie left-hander Samuel Aldegheri. Altuve injured his side in the game on Wednesday against the Oakland Athletics and sat out of the series finale against the division rivals on Thursday before returning to start the weekend series in Anaheim. Fantasy managers will want to get the 34-year-old All-Star back into all starting lineups, especially against a young hurler without much experience. Altuve has been excellent for the Astros and fantasy managers all year and enters Friday's game with a .302/.357/.450 slash line, .806 OPS, 19 homers, 62 RBI, 20 steals and 86 runs scored in 576 at-bats as a contributor across all categories. He's been even better in September with a .389 average, a homer, four doubles and five RBI in nine games.

Thu Sep 1212:12Jose Altuve Not Playing Against A's
Houston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve (side) is not in the team's starting lineup on Thursday at Minute Maid Park for the series finale against the division-rival Oakland Athletics. Altuve's absence shouldn't come as a surprise after he was forced from Wednesday night's win over Oakland due to right-side tightness. Manager Joe Espada said after the game that he's not really concerned about Altuve's injury, with the team calling him day-to-day for now. Fantasy managers need to get the 34-year-old All-Star out of their lineups on Thursday and check back on Friday to see if he's available for the series opener in Anaheim against the Los Angeles Angels. Mauricio Dubon is at the keystone and batting ninth on Thursday against A's right-hander Mitch Spence. If Altuve misses additional time, Dubon will likely see most of the starts at second in his place for Houston.

Thu Sep 1200:22Jose Altuve Dealing With Side Injury
Houston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve (side) left Wednesday's 5-4 loss to the division-rival Oakland Athletics at Minute Maid Park early after he appeared to be in pain after taking a swing in the fifth inning. Altuve stayed in the game, bunted foul with two strikes to end his at-bat and then immediately went into the team's clubhouse. He was replaced at second by Mauricio Dubon. The All-Star second baseman is getting treatment on his right side, and manager Joe Espada said he is "not really concerned" about the severity and Altuve is day-to-day. The 34-year-old went 0-for-3 with a strikeout before leaving. It's good news, but fantasy managers should expect Altuve to miss at least a game or two. The Astros finish their series against the A's on Thursday before a series opener on Friday at the Los Angeles Angels. Houston can ill-afford to lose Altuve for any stretch of time as October nears.

During the season Altuve has hit an even .300 with 19 home runs, 59 RBI, 20 stolen bases, and 85 runs scored. He continues to be the catalyst in an excellent Houston lineup. Altuve is hitting .346 in his last seven games atop the lineup. He will look to continue his hot hitting in the series finale tomorrow against Arizona.

Mon Aug 2617:22Jose Altuve Out Against Phillies
Houston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve is getting a day off on Monday for the series opener against the Philadelphia Phillies at Citizens Bank Park in a rematch of last year's World Series. With Altuve out, rookie Shay Whitcomb will make the start at the keystone and bat ninth for Houston against Phillies right-hander Zack Wheeler. Altuve was hitless in his five at-bats with three strikeouts in Sunday's series finale against the Baltimore Orioles, prompting the team to give him just his sixth game off of the season. Whitcomb will be a deep DFS sleeper to ignore in a tough matchup while hitting in the nine-hole. The 25-year-old has handled himself well in his first 21 big-league at-bats, though, going 6-for-21 (.286) with two RBI and a run scored while getting on base at a .423 clip. Altuve should return to the keystone for Game 2 of the series on Tuesday.

Sat Aug 2408:58Jose Altuve Homers, Gets On Base Three Times
Houston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve homered and drove in two runs as part of a 2-for-4 day at the plate in Friday's 7-5 loss to the Orioles. The veteran was also hit by a pitch in the contest. It was the sixth time this month the 9x All-Star has had multiple hits in a game, although he has also had six games in which he went hitless, leading to just a .256 batting average in August. Nevertheless, the 34-year-old is having a solid year overall, recording a .299-17-55-73-18 line with a .345 wOBA and 127 wRC+, remaining one of the top options at the keystone for fantasy.

Wed Aug 2112:07Jose Altuve Getting A Breather On Wednesday
Houston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve is getting a day off in Wednesday's series finale at Minute Maid Park against the Boston Red Sox. Mauricio Dubon will start at the keystone and will hit seventh for the Astros against Red Sox right-hander Cooper Criswell. Third baseman Alex Bregman (elbow) is returning from a five-game absence and will serve as the designated hitter and bat in Altuve's customary leadoff spot. Altuve will get his first day of rest since July 7. Since July 9, he's hit .275 (39-for-142) with three home runs, five doubles, 12 RBI, five steals and 18 runs scored in 35 games played. The veteran second baseman is currently riding a modest five-game hitting streak, going 7-for-21 (.333) with a homer, double, three RBI and three stolen bases. Altuve is having a fine bounce-back season in 2024 and is a must-start in all fantasy lineups when he's on the field.

Sat Aug 1006:50Jose Altuve Homers, Scores Twice On Friday
Houston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve had a big night in his team's 8-4 win over the Boston Red Sox on Friday. Altuve went 1-for-4 with a walk, a homer, two runs, and two RBI to help propel the Astros to the win. The veteran's two-run shot in the seventh inning was clutch as it tied the game at 3-3. Altuve is putting together a fine season, hitting .302 with 15 homers, 64 runs, 50 RBI, and 15 steals over 460 at-bats. He has been in a bit of a cold streak of late, hitting just .231 over his past seven games, so hopefully Friday's performance will get his bat going again.

Thu Jul 2500:54Jose Altuve Provides Three-Hit Attack Wednesday
Houston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve collected three hits in Wednesday afternoon's win over the division-rival Oakland Athletics, driving in two runs during the victory. After ripping an RBI single to left field, plating Jon Singleton to give the Astros a 2-1 lead in the second inning, Altuve lined an RBI double to left field to score Singleton once more and give Houston a 5-1 lead in the seventh inning. Wednesday was just another day at the office for the 34-year-old All-Star infielder, who's now slashing a strong .307/.353/.456 with 14 home runs, 46 RBI, 59 runs scored, and 15 stolen bases covering 410 at-bats this year.

Fri Jul 1921:52Jose Altuve, Yordan Alvarez Both In Lineup Friday Night
Houston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve (hand) and designated hitter Yordan Alvarez (hip) are both in the lineup on Friday night in their start of the second half of the season against the Seattle Mariners. Both had been nursing injuries over the All-Star break; Altuve with his hand and Alvarez his hip. It's a good sign for the Astros, who are looking to take the American League West lead from the Mariners, as they're only one game back of the lead. Altuve and Alvarez should both be in your fantasy lineups, and they should continue to be there going forward. DFS managers should target Alvarez on Friday night, as he is 7-for-15 with three home runs in his career against Mariners starter Luis Castillo.

Thu Jul 1116:13Jose Altuve To Skip All-Star Game To Rest His Hand
Houston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve (hand) will miss next week's All-Star game, "opting to rest a sore left hand," stemming from being hit by a pitch last Friday against the Minnesota Twins, according to the team. After being hit on his hand last Friday, Altuve sat out Saturday's game before returning to action in Sunday's series finale in Minnesota. The 34-year-old has started each of the last three games since being hit in the hand and should be fine, but the Astros prefer if he gets some extra rest heading into the second half of the season next weekend. The nine-time All-Star has had a fantastic bounce-back season in 2024 after an injury-plagued 2023 campaign and is taking an eight-game hitting streak into Thursday's contest versus the visiting Miami Marlins. He's gone 13-for-34 (.382) with a double and five RBI during his current streak.

Sun Jul 712:09Jose Altuve Returns To Astros Lineup
Houston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve (hand) is back at second base and in his customary leadoff spot on Sunday against the hosting Minnesota Twins and rookie right-hander Simeon Woods Richardson. Altuve was forced from the series opener on Friday night in Minnesota after being hit by a pitch in his left hand. Thankfully, X-rays came back negative for any fractures, and the 34-year-old All-Star was diagnosed with a left-hand contusion. He was held out of Saturday's lineup as a precaution but will return for the series finale on Sunday. Altuve has had an excellent bounce-back season to this point in 2024 after an injury-plagued 2023 campaign. He's currently slashing .310/.360/.466 with an .827 OPS, 13 homers, 40 RBI, 13 steals and 53 runs scored in 358 at-bats. Get him back in all fantasy lineups. Altuve has never faced Woods Richardson in his career.

Sat Jul 612:04Jose Altuve Absent From Astros Lineup
Houston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve (hand) is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's contest against the hosting Minnesota Twins after he was hit by a pitch on his left hand on Friday night. Altuve left the contest in the eighth inning after talking with a trainer, but thankfully X-rays on his hand came back negative, and he's dealing with a left-hand contusion. For now, consider the All-Star to be day-to-day. Move him to your fantasy bench and check back on Sunday to see if he's active. It's been an excellent bounce-back season for the 34-year-old veteran, who is hitting .310 (111-for-358) with 13 homers, 40 RBI, 13 stolen bases and 53 runs scored on the year. He's a no-doubt, must-start when he's on the field. Utility man Mauricio Dubon is making the start at second base on Saturday and will hit seventh for Houston against Twins right-hander Joe Ryan.

Fri Jul 523:00Jose Altuve Exits Friday After Hit-By-Pitch
Houston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve (hand, wrist) left the game early on Friday against the hosting Minnesota Twins after being hit by a pitch on his left/hand wrist area. Altuve was removed from the contest in eighth inning after talking with a team trainer. The 34-year-old veteran helped his fantasy managers by going 2-for-4 with an RBI and a strikeout in the game before hitting the showers early. He'll likely undergo X-rays at the stadium, and we should have a better idea of the severity of his injury later Friday night or by Saturday morning. Altuve has been a beast this year, hitting .308 with 13 homers and 13 steals in 2024, so losing him for any amount of time would be a big blow for the 'Stros and fantasy managers. Mauricio Dubon replaced Altuve at second on Friday and would likely become the team's primary second baseman if Altuve goes on the injured list.UPDATE: X-rays revealed no fracture, and Altuve was diagnosed with a left-hand contusion.

Mon Jul 112:39Jose Altuve Getting Monday Off
Houston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve will get the day off on Monday on the road against the Toronto Blue Jays. Altuve will take a seat a day after being ejected in the seventh inning of Sunday's contest against the New York Mets. It's just the All-Star's third day off of the season. The 34-year-old veteran Venezuelan infielder has been excellent yet again for the Astros and fantasy managers in 2024, as he's currently hitting a cool .304/.353/.469 with an .822 OPS, 13 home runs, 37 RBI, 13 stolen bases and 50 runs scored in 339 at-bats after playing in only 90 games in 2023 due to injuries. The eight-time All-Star is a must-start in fantasy anytime he's in the lineup. Mauricio Dubon will replace Altuve at second base on Monday and will bat seventh against Blue Jays rookie right-hander Yariel Rodriguez.

Sat Jun 2901:02Jose Altuve Pops Leadoff Homer Friday Night
Houston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve wasted no time Friday night by popping a leadoff solo home run on the first pitch of the game off of Jose Quintana while pitching in another hit in a 7-2 loss to the New York Mets. Altuve had never hit Quintana well in his career so the first-pitch fishing comes to no surprise as the 34-year-old veteran is one of the most notorious first-pitch hitters. Tonight's game being Altuve's 80th game of the season puts him well on pace to pass his 17 home run total that he had last season due to only playing in 90 games because of a broken hand. The pesky Venezuelan is hitting .304 and continues to thrive at the top of the Astros lineup.

Wed Jun 2618:52Jose Altuve Continues Hot Stretch
Houston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve was once again solid at the plate during Wednesday's game against the Colorado Rockies. The veteran infielder went 2-for-5 with a pair of RBIs and two stolen bases in the win. Unsurprisingly, Altuve was the offensive catalyst for this team. The 34-year-old has been hot with a .365 batting average with three home runs and 13 RBI over his last 15 games. Fantasy managers should make sure to keep Altuve in their lineups while he's hot at the plate.

Houston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve gave his team a big lift during Sunday's game against the Detroit Tigers. The veteran slugger went 2-for-3 with a three-run home run in the 4-1 win. He also drew a walk and stole a base in what was a fairly productive day at the plate for Altuve. He's now slashing .299/.350/.460 with 11 home runs, 29 RBI, and 10 stolen bases on the season.

Sun Jun 212:28Jose Altuve Out Against Twins
Houston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve will start Sunday's contest versus the visiting Minnesota Twins on the bench and give way to Mauricio Dubon, who will start at the keystone and bat sixth against Twins rookie right-hander Simeon Woods Richardson. It's just the second time all year that Altuve hasn't started a game for the Astros. Fantasy managers will want to move him to their benches for Sunday's action. The 34-year-old perennial All-Star has avoided the injury bug so far in 2024 and continues to be a hitting machine, slashing .292/.346/.450 with nine home runs, 20 RBI, eight stolen bases and 34 runs scored in his 240 at-bats. Expect him to be back in the starting lineup for Monday's series opener against the visiting St. Louis Cardinals. Dubon has done nothing but hit this year as well but only has two homers and two steals to show for it.
