Thu Sep 1221:44Corey Seager To Undergo Season-Ending Surgery
Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager (hip) will undergo season-ending sports hernia surgery, according to Jeff Wilson of DLLS Sports. Seager hit the injured list last week with hip soreness; however, the injury is now much worse than expected. As a result, the 30-year-old will now be sidelined for the remainder of the 2024 campaign. The two-time World Series MVP enjoyed another excellent campaign as he has posted a .278/.353/.512 slash line with 30 home runs and 21 doubles. Under the hood, he held some of the best metrics among hitters, with an impressive 15.2% barrel rate and a 50.7% hard-hit rate. Seager will once again be drafted as one of the top shortstops next season and will bat at the top of a potent Texas lineup.

Wed Sep 416:30Corey Seager Lands On 10-Day Injured List
The Texas Rangers placed All-Star shortstop Corey Seager (hip) on the 10-day injured list on Wednesday with hip discomfort. Seager didn't play on Tuesday as a result of his hip injury and also missed three of the team's last seven games. The 30-year-old two-time World Series MVP will be able to come off the IL on Sept. 16, but with the Rangers well out of playoff contention in the final month of the season, it's quite possible we won't see Seager again until 2025. Josh Smith is starting at the 6 on Wednesday for Texas and is batting leadoff against New York Yankees right-hander Marcus Stroman at Globe Life Field, and he should be the primary option in Seager's absence the rest of the way. If this is the end of Seager's 2024 campaign, he'll finish it with his third straight 30-homer season while also slashing .278/.353/.512 with an .864 OPS, 74 RBI and 68 runs scored in 123 games played.

Tue Sep 318:06Corey Seager Absent On Tuesday
Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager is out of the starting lineup ahead of Tuesday's game against the New York Yankees. The left-handed slugger will get his second day off in the last five games. It doesn't appear that Seager is dealing with an injury, so it's uncertain why Seager is getting so many rest days. He has a .968 OPS across in his last 10 games so it's not due to poor performance. Jonathan Ornelas will take over shortstop and bat ninth versus left-hander Carlos Rodon on Tuesday. The 24-year-old only has three hits in his first 11 games. That being said, fantasy managers should be able to find a better streaming option ahead of Tuesday's game.UPDATE: Seager is getting "load management," but manager Bruce Bochy said he is probably not "100%"

Fri Aug 3017:12Corey Seager Getting A Breather Against A's
Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager will sit out of Friday's series opener against the division-rival Oakland Athletics at Globe Life Field. With Seager getting a day off, Ezequiel Duran will make a start at shortstop and will bat eighth against A's left-hander JP Sears. Duran won't have much DFS upside near the bottom of Texas' lineup, but he is hitting .455 with a 1.026 OPS and an RBI in 11 career at-bats against Sears. The 30-year-old Seager will get a day off after starting in each of the team's last 12 games. He reached a pretty big milestone in Thursday's contest against the Chicago White Sox, too, clubbing the 200th home run of his career. The two-time World Series MVP has been great in the month of August, batting .293 (29-for-99) with 11 long balls, five doubles, 24 RBI and 16 runs scored in 24 games played. He's a must-start anytime he's in the lineup.

Tue Aug 2000:09Corey Seager Homers Twice Monday
Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager continued his August power surge in Monday's 4-3 win over the Pirates. Seager went 2-for-3 with a solo home run, a three-run HR, and an intentional walk. The 30-year-old got things started for the Rangers, crushing a first-inning Luis Ortiz offering 449 feet into the right-field seats. He took Ortiz deep again in the third inning, sneaking a ball just over the right-field wall. Seager has provided power all season long but is having his best month yet, slashing .277/.333/.723 with nine HR and 18 RBI in 65 August at-bats. The Rangers offense has performed better as a whole as well, so things seem to be falling into place for fantasy managers down the stretch.

Thu Aug 1516:36Corey Seager Retreats To The Bench On Thursday
Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager will get a day off on Thursday in the series opener against the Minnesota Twins at Globe Life Field. Josh Smith will move to shortstop and will hit second for Texas against Twins right-hander Bailey Ober. Seager will retreat to the bench in this one for the first time since July 23. Since July 24, Seager has been hot with the lumber for the Rangers, batting .321 (27-for-84) with eight home runs, three doubles, 15 RBI and 15 runs scored in 20 starts. Fantasy managers will want to get him back in their lineups for Game 2 of the series against the visiting Twins on Friday. Smith, 27, has broken out in 2024 in his third year in the majors to the tune of a .273/.362/.430 slash line with a .792 OPS, 12 homers, 51 RBI and seven steals and makes for a nice DFS sleeper target against Ober.

Tue Aug 1309:55Corey Seager Launches Home Run
Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager was 2-for-4 with a two-run homer on Monday against the Boston Red Sox. Seager connected on his 26th homer of the season and is now hitting .277/.356/.506 for Texas this season with 63 RBI. The 30-year-old is turning in another high-quality season, doing a little bit of everything at the plate. Seager is still one of the top shortstops in fantasy baseball as he continues to show off his sweet lefty swing at the dish. The shortstop position is loaded with young talent in fantasy baseball but Seager is still one of the most consistent producers at the position.

Wed Aug 700:36Corey Seager Homers To Break Up No-Hitter
Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager hit a two-run home run off Framber Valdez with two outs in the ninth inning to end his no-hitter on Tuesday night. He was responsible for the Rangers' only hit and runs of the ballgame, as they lost to the Astros 4-2. Seager has consistently been a bright spot in an otherwise disappointing season for the Rangers. The 30-year-old has been swinging a hot bat recently, slashing .339/.365/.678 with six home runs and nine RBI in his last 15 games. Seager remains one of the premier shortstops in all of fantasy baseball.

Sat Aug 307:16Corey Seager Hits Pair Of HRs In Friday Loss
Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager had a huge night in his team's 11-6 loss to the Boston Red Sox on Friday. Seager went 3-for-3 with two homers, three runs, and three RBI but it wasn't quite enough to overcome a hot Red Sox lineup in the contest. The veteran shortstop kicked off the scoring with a solo homer in the first inning and later came back with another solo shot in the third. Seager is now hitting .279 with 21 homers, 54 runs, 53 RBI, and one stolen base across 366 at-bats this season. He has been swinging a hot bat of late, batting .379 over his past seven contests.

Thu Jul 2508:02Corey Seager Has Huge Game In Victory
Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager went 4-for-5 with three runs in Wednesday's victory versus the Chicago White Sox. Out of his four hits, Seager hit a double and a solo home run. The strong performance raises his batting average to .269 on the season to go along with 19 homers and 49 RBI over 334 at-bats. As always with the veteran shortstop, health is the only thing that tends to hold him back and he has currently appeared in 89 out of 102 games this season. As one of the best shortstops in the game, managers should continue to deploy Seager on a regular basis.

Tue Jul 2316:55Corey Seager Resting Against Left-Hander
Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager will get the day off on Tuesday against the visiting Chicago White Sox and All-Star left-hander Garrett Crochet. With Seager riding pine, Jonathan Ornelas will get the starting nod at shortstop and will bat ninth for the Rangers. Seager will get the day off against a tough left-hander after starting each of the team's last 15 games. The 30-year-old two-time World Series MVP opened the month of July hot, but he's hit a rough patch in his last five games with just one hit in 16 at-bats with six walks and six strikeouts. The 30-year-old All-Star has hit only .236 (25-for-106) with four of his 18 home runs against lefties in 2024, too. While Seager may be in a bit of a funk offensively since the All-Star break, he's still a must-start for fantasy managers when he's in the lineup. Ornelas can be avoided in DFS contests.

Sun Jul 1421:58Corey Seager Named All-Star Replacement
Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager has been named to the American League All-Star team on Sunday. The AL needed another player with Minnesota Twins shortstop Carlos Correa (foot) being unable to play. Seager will join the All-Star team for the fifth time in his career. The 30-year-old is well deserving considering how well he's playing this season. Seager is slashing .270/.355/.479 with 18 home runs and 48 RBI in 83 games.

The star infielder's homer, a two-run shot, came in the sixth inning off Houston starter Hunter Brown. Seager later provided the Rangers' only other run with an RBI single in the seventh inning. In what is shaping up as another excellent season at the plate, Seager is hitting .272 with 18 homers, 43 runs, 48 RBI, and one steal across 309 at-bats.

Wed Jul 319:10Corey Seager Added To Wednesday's Lineup
After initially not being included in Wednesday's starting lineup against the visiting San Diego Padres, shortstop Corey Seager (wrist) has been added and will bat second against Padres right-handed rookie Adam Mazur. Seager was hit by a pitch last Saturday on the left wrist against the Baltimore Orioles and ended up missing the last two games as a result. Josh Smith will slide over to third base with Seager back in action. Now that Seager is back in the lineup, fantasy managers will want to get him back in their starting lineups for Wednesday's action against a rookie pitcher. The two-time World Series MVP enters Wednesday's game against San Diego riding a seven-game hitting streak since June 22 that has seen him go 9-for-27 (.333) with a homer, two doubles, two RBI, a stolen base and three runs scored.

Wed Jul 318:22Corey Seager Absent Once Again
Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager (hand) is out of the starting lineup ahead of Wednesday's game against the San Diego Padres. Rangers' manager Bruce Bochy did say there's a chance that Seager gets added to the lineup before first pitch. For now, Josh Smith will cover shortstop and bat second versus right-hander Adam Mazur. It sounds like Seager is extremely close to playing, so Thursday could be a potential return date for the All-Star slugger.

Tue Jul 218:08Corey Seager Absent On Tuesday
Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager (hand) is out of the starting lineup ahead of Tuesday's game against the San Diego Padres. Josh Smith will cover shortstop and bat second versus right-hander Dylan Cease on Tuesday. Fantasy managers should expect Seager to be back in the lineup at some point this week.

Mon Jul 118:32Corey Seager Considered Day-To-Day
Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager (hand) was forced to exit Saturday's contest after being hit by a pitch in the hand. As a result, Seager sat out on Sunday and underwent an MRI on Monday. The MRI came back negative which leaves Seager considered as day-to-day. He should be back in the lineup once he's able to grip and swing the bat again. In the meantime, Josh Smith should see more action at shortstop. The Rangers are off on Monday, so fantasy leagues will have to check back ahead of Tuesday's game for another update on his status.

Sun Jun 3019:09Corey Seager Absent On Sunday
Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager (hand) is out of the starting lineup ahead of Sunday's game against the Baltimore Orioles. This doesn't come as much of a surprise after Seager was hit by a pitch on the hand during Saturday's game. As a result, the Rangers will hold out Seager for at least one game. For now, fantasy managers should consider Seager as day-to-day. Josh Smith will cover shortstop and bat second versus left-hander Cole Irvin on Sunday.

Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager (wrist) avoided serious injury to his left wrist after being hit by a pitch during Saturday's 6-5 loss at the Baltimore Orioles. Seager, who earlier hit his 15th homer in the first inning, left in the fifth after being hit by Orioles starter Cade Povich. X-rays proved negative, and the club will further re-evaluate Seager on Sunday. He is slashing .260/.345/.451 with 37 RBI and 34 runs scored with a .796 OPS.
