Thu Aug 1512:12Mookie Betts Getting An Off Day
Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder/infielder Mookie Betts will take a day to rest in Thursday's series finale against the Milwaukee Brewers at American Family Field. The lefty hitting Jason Heyward will make the start in right field and will hit seventh against Brewers right-hander Tobias Myers. Betts returned from a fractured hand on Monday and played in the first three games of the series in Milwaukee, notching two hits in each game and finishing 6-for-14 with a homer, three RBI and a stolen base. The 31-year-old former MVP and eight-time All-Star has picked up right where he left off earlier this year and is a must-start in fantasy lineups when he's active. Betts will surely be back in the two-hole in the lineup for Friday's series opener against the St. Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium. Heyward, who is hitting just over the Mendoza Line in 168 at-bats in 2024, will be a low-upside DFS sleeper on Thursday.

Tue Aug 1300:48Mookie Betts Homers, Drives In Three In Monday's Return
Los Angeles Dodgers infielder/outfielder Mookie Betts (hand) had a strong return from the injured list in Monday's 5-2 win over the Brewers. Betts, who fractured his hand in the middle of June, went 2-for-4 with a single, a two-run home run, three RBI, a strikeout, and a stolen base. It was a welcome sign for fantasy managers to see the 31-year-old pick up right where he left off despite missing so much time. He now owns a .307/.406/.498 slash line with 11 HR, 51 runs scored, 43 RBI, and 10 stolen bases in 335 plate appearances. Betts is one of fantasy's top players when healthy, and he will serve as a huge boost to fantasy managers' lineups down the stretch if he can continue to produce without missing a beat from spending time on the IL.

Mon Aug 1217:01Mookie Betts Activated And Starting On Monday
The Los Angeles Dodgers activated infielder/outfielder Mookie Betts (hand) from the 10-day injured list on Monday and designated infielder/outfielder Amed Rosario for assignment in a corresponding move. As expected, Betts is starting in right field and is batting second for the Blue in Monday's series opener against the hosting Milwaukee Brewers and right-hander Freddy Peralta. Betts is a must-roster, must-start fantasy player as one of the best all-around players in baseball, but there may be some rust to knock off since he hasn't played in a big-league game since fracturing his hand way back on June 16. The 31-year-old also didn't go on a minor-league rehab assignment. Bett's return is mostly bad news for veteran outfielder Jason Heyward. Betts has faced Peralta five times in his career and is still searching for his first against him.

Sat Aug 1020:58Mookie Betts Set To Return On Monday
Los Angeles Dodgers infielder/outfielder Mookie Betts (hand) is set to take live BP prior to Sunday's game and will travel with the team to Milwaukee when he is expected to return to the diamond on Monday evening. The superstar has been sidelined since mid-June due to a fracture in his left wrist. Before the injury, Betts was boasting a strong .304/.405/.488 line with 10 home runs, nine stolen bases, and 40 RBI through 72 games. Dodger skipper Dave Roberts told the media earlier this week that Betts will primarily be playing in right field when he returns compared to earlier this season, where he played at shortstop and second base. As a result, this will allow Gavin Lux to continue to see most starts at the keystone, while Miguel Rojas and Nick Ahmed should be expected to split time at shortstop.

Fri Aug 919:12Mookie Betts To Play Right Field Upon His Return
Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said that infielder Mookie Betts (hand) will play right field when he returns from the injured list on Monday against the Milwaukee Brewers. The Dodgers have changed their minds a few times now on the plan for Betts once he returns, originally saying that they expected him to move to second base after serving as the regular shortstop in the first half of the season before fracturing his hand. The 31-year-old All-Star will also drop to the second spot in the batting order to allow designated hitter Shohei Ohtani to stay in the leadoff spot. Miguel Rojas and Nick Ahmed will continue to split time at the 6 when Betts returns, while Gavin Lux will stay at the keystone. The biggest loser upon Betts' return will be veteran Jason Heyward. Regardless of where Betts is playing on the diamond, he's a must-start in all fantasy lineups when he's active.

Tue Aug 620:00Mookie Betts Expected To Return At Shortstop, Bat Second In Lineup
Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said he sees infielder Mookie Betts (hand) playing shortstop when he returns from his hand/wrist injury, which could take place as early as next Monday. Betts will also hit second in the batting order (with Shohei Ohtani sticking in the leadoff spot) to break up left-handed hitters at the top of the order in Ohtani and first baseman Freddie Freeman. The Dodgers were initially saying that the 31-year-old would be moved to second base, with veteran Miguel Rojas (forearm) staying at the 6, but appears that plans have changed for now. Regardless of where Betts is playing on the diamond, he's a must-start in all fantasy formats when he returns to the Blue, and the drop one spot down in the batting order isn't going to have long-reaching fantasy effects.

Sat Aug 322:02Mookie Betts Targeting Return In Dodgers Next Road Trip
Los Angeles Dodgers second baseman Mookie Betts (hand) is targeting a return during the team's next road trip. The Dodgers' next road trip begins on August 12 against the Milwaukee Brewers and follows up with a three-game-set versus the St. Louis Cardinals. The 31-year-old has been sidelined since June 17 with a fracture in his left hand. Betts has been participating in batting practice and is trending toward returning from the injured list in mid-August. He slashed .304/.405/.488 with 10 home runs, 40 RBI, 50 runs, and nine stolen bases over 72 games before landing on the injured list. Fantasy managers should continue stashing Betts in all leagues, as he is expected to return from the injured list and boost the Dodgers lineup soon.

Sat Aug 300:07Mookie Betts, Max Muncy Set For Simulated Game
Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said before Friday's series opener against the hosting Oakland Athletics that superstar shortstop Mookie Betts(hand) and star third baseman Max Muncy(oblique) will participate in a simulated game at Dodger Stadium on Thursday. Roberts has previously said a return by mid-August is "very realistic" for Betts, who is entering the final stages of his recovery from a fractured left hand. Muncy, who has taken much longer to recover from a right oblique strain than originally anticipated, recently had a "breakthrough" in his recovery, according to LA's skipper, and is set to take a big step forward in what will likely be a lengthy rehab process due to the amount of time he has missed. Fantasy managers should see Betts back with the Dodgers in the next couple of weeks, while Muncy is back on track toward an activation from the injured list in late August at the earliest.

Wed Jul 3119:30Mookie Betts Taking Batting Practice, Getting Closer To A Return
Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said that middle infielder Mookie Betts (hand) will be taking batting practice at Petco Park before Wednesday's contest against the division-rival San Diego Padres, and it's "very realistic" for him to return in a couple of weeks. If Betts does go on a minor-league rehab assignment once he's cleared for live action, it could be a short one before the former MVP returns to LA's starting lineup. The 31-year-old eight-time All-Star has been out since fracturing his left hand on a hit-by-pitch on June 16 but should be stashed in all fantasy formats as a difference-maker at the top of one of the best lineups in baseball when he's healthy. When Betts returns, the Dodgers have hinted that he'll see most of his starts at second base. Betts was hitting a cool .304/.405/.488 with an .892 OPS, 10 homers, 40 RBI and nine steals in 72 games before his injury.

Mon Jul 2219:50Mookie Betts Starts Swinging A Bat
Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said on Monday that infielder Mookie Betts (hand) has started swinging a bat. Betts also took some ground balls back-handed before Monday's series opener against the visiting division-rival San Francisco Giants at Dodger Stadium at shortstop with his broken left hand. The 31-year-old All-Star has yet to actual start hitting baseballs, but that could come soon as long as he doesn't suffer any setbacks. Betts was placed on the injured list back on June 17 with a fractured left hand when he was hit by a pitch. He's not going to be back for the Dodgers until sometime in August, but he needs to be stashed in all fantasy formats until then. And when Betts does return, he's expected to shift from shortstop to second base, which will push Gavin Lux into a bench role for the first-place Dodgers.

Fri Jul 1919:02Mookie Betts Plays Catch Friday
Los Angeles Dodgers infielder Mookie Betts (hand) played catch while using his broken left hand in the outfield before Friday's series opener against the visiting Boston Red Sox. Betts had previously been having someone else catch the ball for him, so he's clearly made some progress from a fractured left hand. The biggest test for the 31-year-old superstar will be swinging a bat, and he's almost certainly going to need at least a short minor-league rehab assignment before he's back in the big leagues. But barring a setback as he ramps up baseball activities, Betts has a realistic chance to return atop the Dodgers' batting order in early August. And when he does return, the Dodgers have hinted that most of his playing time will come at second base in the second half of the season, which will allow the slick-fielding Miguel Rojas more playing time at the 6.

Sun Jul 1412:29Mookie Betts Starts Taking Ground Balls
Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said that infielder Mookie Betts (hand) has started taking soft ground balls after he had only been doing "shadow" work up until now. Betts has been on the injured list for around a month now after fracturing his hand on a hit-by-pitch. The good news is that he didn't need surgery and is improving slowly. There isn't an exact timetable for Betts' return atop the Dodgers' starting lineup in the second half of the season, but fantasy managers shouldn't expect him to be back until sometime in August, barring a setback. And when Betts does return, it sounds like he could be moved from shortstop to second base, which would allow Miguel Rojas to see more time at the 6, while the struggling Gavin Lux would see more time on the bench. Betts needs to remain stashed in an IL spot in all fantasy leagues.

Wed Jul 319:37Mookie Betts Could Play Second Base When He Returns
Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said he'd consider moving shortstop Mookie Betts (wrist) to second base when he comes off the injured list when he was asked if he would consider leaving Miguel Rojas at shortstop. "I don't think anyone can debate the level of shortstop play from Miguel Rojas," Roberts said. Rojas has always been a standout defensively in his career, but the 35-year-old veteran has also swung the bat well at the bottom of the order for the Blue in 2024. Rojas is currently batting .291 (44-for-151), albeit with only three home runs, 19 RBI and three stolen bases. Betts hasn't played nearly as well defensively at the 6 as Rojas has, and moving Betts to the keystone would allow the Dodgers to move the struggling Gavin Lux to the bench on a regular basis. Betts played a career-high 70 games at second base in 2023, so he's plenty familiar with the position.

Fri Jun 700:46Mookie Betts Hits Three-Run Blast On Thursday
Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Mookie Betts had a big night at the dish on Thursday, getting on base four times and hitting a big three-run homer to put the game out of reach for the Pittsburgh Pirates in what ended up being an 11-7 victory. Betts went 2-for-4 with a pair of walks, two runs scored, and three RBI to round out a terrific stat line. It was good to see the 31-year-old superstar have a big game, as he has been pretty pedestrian for about a month now. Even the best players go through these kinds of slumps though, and he will likely go on a hot streak soon that makes this stretch seem like a tiny blimp.

Sat May 1816:13Mookie Betts Out Of Lineup On Saturday
Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Mookie Betts is getting the night off for Saturday's tilt against the Cincinnati Reds. This marks the first day off for Betts in the 2024 season. Miguel Rojas will be starting at shortstop in Betts' place with Gavin Lux starting at second. Shohei Ohtani will move up one spot in the lineup and hit leadoff against Reds' starting pitcher Graham Ashcraft. Betts has been playing phenomenally yet again this season and continues to be at the lead of the NL MVP race. Fantasy managers should not be concerned about Betts' absence today as this just appears to be a day of rest and comes after Betts mentioned how tough it is to play shortstop at a major league level. Expect the 31-year-old back in the lineup on Sunday against Reds starter Hunter Greene.

Tue May 1402:47Mookie Betts Blasts 50th Career Leadoff Home Run Monday
Los Angeles Dodgers infielder/outfielder Mookie Betts blasted his 50th career leadoff home run in Monday's 6-4 extra-inning win over the San Francisco Giants. Including the dinger, Betts finished the night 2-for-5 with an RBI and scored two runs. The RBI was his first recorded in over a week which is hardly something to worry about when his season stat line includes seven home runs and 28 RBI with a ridiculous .341 batting average. Betts will continue his MVP campaign against the Giants and Cincinnati Reds this week. Logan Webb is on the mound Wednesday whom Betts has torched in his career with a .346 batting average and two home runs.

Wed Apr 1700:56Mookie Betts Collects Five Hits Tuesday
Los Angeles Dodgers middle infielder/outfielder Mookie Betts had another stellar offensive game in Tuesday's 6-2 win over the Nationals. Betts went 5-for-5 with three singles, two doubles, and two RBI. The 31-year-old has produced like a top fantasy pick, slashing .388/.490/.700 with six home runs, 22 runs scored, 18 RBI, and three stolen bases while hitting atop one of baseball's best lineups.

Thu Mar 2109:53Mookie Betts Drives In Six
Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop/outfielder Mookie Betts had a huge game on Thursday versus the San Diego Padres. Betts went 4-for-5 with two runs, six RBI and one walk. He also belted his first homer, a two-run rocket off Michael King in the fifth inning. Betts is always one of the strongest performers in the league and now is leading off with Shohei Ohtani and Freddie Freeman behind him. In addition to his outfield and second base eligibility, Betts will soon pick up shortstop eligibility and that will only increase his already high value. Betts continues to put up top tier numbers on a yearly basis and there is no reason to believe that he will cool down this season at age 31. At the top of arguably the best lineup in the game, Betts remains entrenched as a first-round pick with sneaky position eligibility.

Fri Mar 817:40Dodgers Shifting Mookie Betts Over To Shortstop Permanently
Los Angeles Dodgers infielder/outfielder Mookie Betts is starting at shortstop Friday versus the Cincinnati Reds. Betts played shortstop for the first time in the big leagues in 2023, logging 98 innings at the position - and it appears he could be the team's primary shortstop to open the season after Gavin Lux has struggled with his glove at that spot so far in the spring. Lux is starting at second base Friday, as the two infielders could be swapping positions. According to Dodgers manager Dave Roberts, the move to shortstop for Betts is permanent. "Permanent, for now," said Roberts. The 31-year-old enjoyed a massive season in 2023, hitting .307 with 39 home runs, 126 runs, 107 RBI, 14 stolen bases, and a .987 OPS in 152 games, finishing second in NL MVP voting behind Ronald Acuna Jr. His multi-position eligibility only increases his value fantasy value.
