Mon Apr 2914:30Jorge Soler Strikes Out Three Times SundayJorge SolerDHRoyalsFree Agent
San Francisco Giants designated hitter Jorge Soler had a rough go Sunday in the 3-2 victory against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Soler couldn't connect at the plate, striking out all three times. He continues to struggle at the plate, hitting .171 (6-for-35) with four runs, three RBI, two homers, three walks, and 13 strikeouts in his last 10 games. He's slashing .216/.314/.402 with four doubles, 14 RBI, 14 runs, five homers, 14 walks, and 31 strikeouts in 29 games this season. Fantasy managers should continue to bench Soler until he can turn things around at the plate.

Mon Apr 2914:10Alex Verdugo Placed On Paternity ListAlex VerdugoLF/RFRed SoxFree Agent
The New York Yankees placed outfielder Alex Verdugo on the paternity list ahead of their four-game set against the Baltimore Orioles on Monday. Verdugo will now miss between one to three games as he welcomes a new baby into the world. That means the latest we can expect the left-handed slugger back is Thursday in the team's series finale. The Yankees will surely miss his bat in the lineup for the next couple of days, considering he is hitting .267 with four home runs, 13 RBI, and six doubles through 29 games this year. But he should be back later this week for your fantasy teams. In his place, New York called up catcher Carlos Narvaez.

Mon Apr 2913:45Byron Buxton Records Three Runs On SundayByron BuxtonCFTwinsFree Agent
Minnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton was a part of the scoring action Sunday in the 11-5 win against the Los Angeles Angels. Buxton went 1-for-4 with three runs, one walk, and two strikeouts. He has now connected with at least one hit in eight games out of his last 10. Buxton is hitting .244 (21-for-86) on the season with seven doubles, one triple, one homer, 10 runs, 11 RBI, two walks, and 31 strikeouts across 92 plate appearances in 2024. The strikeouts have been a concern for Buxton but his overall consistency at the plate makes him a solid starter for fantasy managers. The Twins will face the Chicago White Sox to start the week with a three-game series for the 30-year-old outfielder.

Mon Apr 2908:54Framber Valdez Solid In ReturnFramber ValdezSPAstrosFree Agent
Houston Astros starting pitcher Framber Valdez made his return to the mound during Sunday's game against the Colorado Rockies. The left-hander looked sharp during his return after missing time due to elbow inflammation. Valdez went five innings, struck out six batters, and walked none in the victory. He only threw 71 pitches during this game, which is around what Houston wanted. Valdez didn't have a rehab stint, so the Astros will likely ease him back to full speed.

Mon Apr 2908:40Mike Tauchman Belts Three-Run HomerMike TauchmanLFYankeesFree Agent
Chicago Cubs outfielder Mike Tauchman delivered a clutch hit during Sunday's game against the Boston Red Sox. The Cubs trailed 4-1 in the eighth inning, but Tauchman had an answer for that. After two singles, Tauchman came up and blasted a three-run home run to tie up the ballgame. Unfortunately for Cubs fans, the Red Sox would win this game in the bottom of the ninth. Tauchman is slashing .294/.429/.500 with three homers, 10 RBI this season.

Mon Apr 2901:16Tanner Houck Continues To Excel In Sunday Night Baseball VictoryTanner HouckSPRed SoxFree Agent
Boston Red Sox starting pitch Tanner Houck threw another gem on Sunday in a 5-4 victory over the Chicago Cubs. Houck tossed 6 innings of one-run ball, allowing just four hits while striking out nine and walking none. It is the fourth start this season where Houck hasn't walked a batter, and his strikeouts haven't suffered either. His season line looks mightily impressive, with a 1.60 ERA, 0.92 WHIP, and 41 strikeouts in 39 IP. He needs to be owned in all leagues at this point, as he looks to be truly breaking out.

Mon Apr 2901:09Jose Alvarado Knocks Down Fifth SaveJosé AlvaradoRPRaysFree Agent
Philadelphia Phillies relief pitcher Jose Alvarado shut down the San Diego Padres on Sunday, helping the team to an 8-6 win. Alvarado was sharp in this one, striking out a pair while not allowing a baserunner in his inning of work. The lefty remains the only Philly with more than one save and appears to be the go-to guy in the ninth inning. He should be rostered in any league where saves matter.

Mon Apr 2900:51Nolan Jones Still Bothered By Back StiffnessNolan Jones3BIndiansFree Agent
Colorado Rockies outfielder Nolan Jones (back) was removed from Sunday's game early with back stiffness. Jones missed two games earlier this week with the same injury and was only able to play in one game before the injury popped up again. It is worrying that the back issues appear to be lingering, with manager Bud Black saying that the team will determine whether an IL stint is necessary before the team's next game on Tuesday. Perhaps this offers a reason for Jones' brutal start to the season, but fantasy managers won't be any happier with that explanation.

Mon Apr 2900:34Dane Dunning Strikes Out 10 On SundayDane DunningSPWhite SoxFree Agent
Texas Rangers starting pitcher Dane Dunning had his best start of the season on Sunday, picking up the win in a 4-3 victory over the Cincinnati Reds. Dunning was on a mission in this one, racking up 10 strikeouts over 5 innings of two-run ball (one earned). The righty allowed just three hits, and maybe most importantly didn't walk a single batter. Considering he had walked at least two in every other start this season, this was clearly a big part of his success. Dunning remains a deeper-league option with some streamer appeal in standard-sized leagues, but he has shown an improved ability to get strikeouts this year, which is something to watch for in his coming starts.

Sun Apr 2816:55Ryan Mountcastle Goes Yard In Sunday's LossRyan Mountcastle1B/2BOriolesFree Agent
Baltimore Orioles first baseman Ryan Mountcastle went 3-for-4 with a home run, two RBI and a stolen base in Sunday's 7-6 loss to the Oakland Athletics. The 27-year-old has homered in back-to-back games for the first time this season. Mountcastle is enjoying solid production at the plate as he is slashing .319/.379/.527 with four homers, 14 RBI and 16 runs. He may not be the most electrifying fantasy asset, but he is worthy of a roster spot in all formats given his strong start and placement in one of the best offenses in baseball.

Sun Apr 2816:46Paul Blackburn Smoked For Six Runs Against OriolesPaul BlackburnSPAthleticsFree Agent
Oakland Athletics starter Paul Blackburn allowed six runs on seven hits in four innings of work during Sunday's 7-6 win over the Baltimore Orioles. He struck out five batters while issuing one walk. The long ball killed Blackburn in this one as he gave up three home runs in the contest. The 30-year-old started the season with three straight scoreless outings and garnered streaming appeal in the process, but he has now given up 13 runs over his last three appearances. Blackburn will face the Miami Marlins in his next projected start, which is an appealing matchup, but he is tough to trust right now.

Sun Apr 2816:22Jordan Romano Snags Fourth Save SundayJordan RomanoSPBlue JaysFree Agent
Toronto Blue Jays closer Jordan Romano picked up his fourth save of the season in Sunday's 3-1 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers. He struck out two of the three batters he faced. The 31-year-old had a late start to the season due to injuries, but he is back and locked into the ninth-inning role for Toronto. Romano is a perfect 4-for-4 on save opportunities thus far to go along with a 3.18 ERA. He has been one of the best fantasy closers over the past few seasons and should continue to be a valuable asset.

Sun Apr 2816:05Tarik Skubal Tosses Another Quality Start SundayTarik SkubalSPTigersFree Agent
Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Tarik Skubal allowed one run on four hits across seven innings of work during Sunday's 4-1 win over the Kansas City Royals. He struck out six batters while issuing one walk. It was another masterful day on the mound for Skubal, who improved his season record to 4-0. The 27-year-old now owns a sparkling 1.72 ERA, 0.74 WHIP and 41/6 K/BB through six starts. Skubal is unquestionably one of the top pitchers in baseball and is a must-start whenever he takes the field. He should continue to find success in his next projected outing against the New York Yankees.

Sun Apr 2814:19Chas McCormick Riding Pine Again On SundayChas McCormickRFAstrosFree Agent
Houston Astros outfielder Chas McCormick will be riding pine on Sunday as the Astros conclude a two-game set in Mexico City with the Colorado Rockies. This is the second time the 29-year-old has been on the bench this week, and he may find himself entering a part-time role. As a result, Yordan Alvarez will shift to left field, opening the designated hitter spot for Yainer Diaz, who is usually behind the dish. McCormick has had a rough start to the season as he has posted a .236/.325/.278 line and has yet to hit a home run, which is very different from his strong 2023 numbers, where he posted a .273 AVG and was one swiped bag away from being a 20/20 player. However, the entire Astros lineup will be a popular stack in DFS as they will face Austin Gomber, who enters Sunday's game with a 4.32 ERA.

Arizona Diamondbacks catcher Gabriel Moreno (rest) is out of the starting lineup ahead of Sunday's game against the Seattle Mariners. Tucker Barnhart will make the start behind the plate and bat seventh versus right-hander Logan Gilbert on Sunday.

Sun Apr 2813:21Chas McCormick Resting On SundayChas McCormickRFAstrosFree Agent
Houston Astros outfielder Chas McCormick (rest) is out of the starting lineup ahead of Sunday's game against the Colorado Rockies. This appears to be a routine rest day for the right-handed slugger. Yordan Alvarez will handle left field with Yainer Diaz serving as the designated hitter for Sunday's game. Fantasy managers should adjust their lineups accordingly.

Sun Apr 2813:08Miguel Sano Dealing With Minor InjuryMiguel Sanó1BTwinsFree Agent
Los Angeles Angels third baseman Miguel Sano (knee) is still banged up after being pulled from Wednesday's game due to left knee soreness. The right-handed slugger was able to play on Friday but then sat out on Saturday. Sano had an MRI on his knee, which revealed inflammation in his left knee. The organization is currently considering Sano as day-to-day right now. Luis Rengifo figures to see additional playing time until Sano is ready again.

Sun Apr 2812:24Randy Arozarena Not Starting Against White SoxRandy ArozarenaCFRaysFree Agent
Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Randy Arozarena is not in the team's starting lineup on Sunday in the series finale against the Chicago White Sox. Arozarena will get a blow after starting the team's previous nine contests while going just 4-for-34 with 13 strikeouts to drop his season line to a rough .154/.228/.260. The 29-year-old Cuban slugger has added three home runs, nine RBI, four stolen bases and 12 runs scored in his first 104 at-bats in 2024. After the day off, hopefully Arozarena will be able to start picking things up offensively for the Rays and fantasy managers. Harold Ramirez is starting in left field and batting fifth, while Austin Shenton is the designated hitter and is batting sixth against White Sox right-hander Erick Fedde. Ramirez has one hit in two career at-bats against Fedde, while Shenton has never faced Fedde.

Sun Apr 2812:08Yandy Diaz Back In Lineup For RaysYandy Díaz3BRaysFree Agent
Tampa Bay Rays first baseman Yandy Diaz (finger) is back at first base and is hitting in his customary leadoff spot for the Rays on Sunday versus the Chicago White Sox and right-hander Erick Fedde. Diaz left Friday's contest early after being hit on the left pinkie finger with a pitch, and he sat out on Saturday as a precaution. But now that he's back on the field, fantasy managers will want to get the 32-year-old veteran back into their starting lineups in all formats. He's hitting just .241 (26-for-108) on the season so far, but he's been better recently, batting .324 in his last nine ball games. Diaz will be looking for his first home run since going deep on Opening Day. He's never faced Fedde in his career.

Sun Apr 2812:05J.D. Martinez Taking A SeatJ.D. MartinezDHRed SoxFree Agent
New York Mets designated hitter J.D. Martinez will retreat to the bench on Sunday for the series finale against the visiting St. Louis Cardinals. Martinez didn't make his 2024 debut with the Mets until Friday night after signing with the club late in spring training and then suffering a back injury while getting ramped up at extended spring training. The 36-year-old veteran right-handed went 3-for-8 in his first two games with an RBI, but he also struck out five times. The Mets plan on easing Martinez back into the fold, so it shouldn't be a surprise that he's on the bench in only his third game back. With Martinez starting on the bench, DJ Stewart will serve as the team's designated hitter and bat cleanup against Cardinals right-hander Lance Lynn. The 30-year-old lefty hitter isn't a bad low-cost DFS option on Sunday in the cleanup spot. He's hitting .200 (9-for-45) on the year with three homers and 11 RBI.
