G Cory Joseph, Toronto's backup point guard, was a team-worst minus-15 for his plus/minus. Joseph played 26 minutes and was at times victimized by Heat PG Goran Dragic, who had 30 points. Offensively, Joseph made just 3-of-9 shots from the floor and was held to seven points.

G Cory Joseph, who finished with 14 points off the bench, had a chance to win the game in regulation, but he missed a 17-foot jumper at the buzzer. Toronto coach Dwane Casey said the plan was not for Joseph to run isolation."We ran a play, but (Miami) took something away," Casey said. "We have to give them credit for taking the play out, but I thought Cory still had a good look even after the play broke down."

Joseph played well on Thursday, recording 18 points (8-13 FG), three rebounds and two assists in a 105-97 win over the Lakers.
Joseph showed some signs of promise in San Antonio when filling in for Tony PArker last season and he'll have a similar role in Toronto. The young guard will likely be used on days when Kyle Lowry needs rest and should provide value for daily formats when that occurs. Don's expect much in yearly formats, but he;s worth keeping an eye on if there are any injuries to the backcourt.
Sun Jul 5 201523:44Cory Joseph: Reaches Agreement With Raptors
Joseph agreed to a four-year, $30 million contract with the Raptors, ESPN's Chris Broussard reports.
The Raptors selected PG Delon Wright in the first round of June's draft, and while the rookie has a shot to earn a key role in the rotation, Joseph figures to open the season as Kyle Lowry's top backup. The Raptors were badly in need of guard depth behind Lowry and DeMar DeRozan, as Greivis Vasquez was recently traded to the Milwaukee Bucks, and Lou Williams agreed to a three-year, $21 million contract with the Lakers on Sunday, Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports reports. Joseph should improve on last season's career-high average of 18.3 minutes.
Sun Jul 5 201522:30Joseph closing in on deal with Raptors
Joseph is closing in on a deal with the Raptors, ESPN's Marc Stein reports.
With Lou Williams heading out of town, the Raptors need a new backup point guard. Although he might have to hold off first-round pick Delon Wright for the right to serve as Kyle Lowry's top backup, Joseph would still probably have a bigger role than he ever did in San Antonio. If things don't work out with the Raptors, the Canadian point guard shouldn't have much trouble finding interest elsewhere.

Joseph is now an unrestricted free agent after the Spurs withdrew their qualifying offer Sunday, Mike Monroe of the San Antonio Express-News reports.
Joseph seems to be destined for a new team after spending his first four season in San Antonio. Regardless of where he ends up, the 23-year-old will likely sign on as a reserve player who sees limited minutes off the bench behind the primary point guard.

Joseph is a restricted free agent after being extended a qualifying offer by the team on Tuesday, Eric Pincus of Basketball Insiders reports.
Joseph has remained a consistent and inexpensive role player for the Spurs over the past few years, and should Joseph accept the qualifying offer worth $3 million, he will remain in that role. Tony Parker has struggled with injuries for the past couple of seasons and Joseph along with Patty Mills will provide good insurance at the point guard position should Parker go down again.
Wed Jun 3 201514:45Joseph averaged 6.8 points, 0.2 three-pointers, 2.4 rebounds, 2....
Joseph averaged 6.8 points, 0.2 three-pointers, 2.4 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 0.2 blocks, and 0.6 steals in 18 minutes per game through 79 games in 2014-15.
Joseph made 14 spot starts in place of Tony Parker, averaging 13.2 points, 0.3 three-pointers, 4.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 0.4 blocks, and 0.6 steals in 35 minutes per game as a starter. Overall, Joseph shot 50 percent from the field and 36 percent on three-pointers, which is solid for a bench guard, but he dipped from 82 percent from the free-throw line last season to 73 percent this season. His vast dip in free-throw efficiency is confusing considering he has improved on his field-goal and three-point percentages every year he's played in the NBA. Though Joseph's limited role on the Spurs bench should continue through next season, he did get 22 minutes per game before the All-Star break due to the aforementioned injuries, and that helped make him a deep-league option with occasional standard-league value. With Parker aging, the 23-year-old Joseph could find more minutes should Parker falter as he did in the Western Conference Playoffs versus the Clippers. Joseph's current contract expires after the 2015-16 season.
