Tue Apr 1 201401:41McCallum posts career-best 22 and 10 vs. NO
Ray McCallum set career-bests with 22 points and 10 assists in Monday's win over the Pelicans, hitting 9-of-19 shots (including a three) with two rebounds and two steals in 44 minutes.
Ray Mac looked good against a truly terrible Pelicans team, and while he'll continue to get 20-25 minutes per game when Isaiah Thomas returns he won't be handling the ball on every possession like he is right now. Thomas may accelerate his timetable for return after a night like this and he was potentially going to return for tonight's game. Get ready for some Ray Mac fever, as the local papers have been trying to find a way to explain their swing-and-miss on Isaiah Thomas for some time.

Sun Mar 30 201400:36Ray McCallum plays 48 mins., scores 16 points
Ray McCallum played all 48 minutes against the Mavericks on Saturday, scoring a career-high 16 points with four boards, eight assists, two steals, one block and two 3-pointers.
It was easily his best game of the year and he only turned the ball over twice. McCallum had a couple horrific games in the past couple weeks due partially to poor shot selection, but he was able to stay aggressive even thug it wasn't enough in the loss. It's hard to believe, but he's the best rookie on the Kings right now and is getting better as a passer as well. He should have value as along as Isaiah Thomas (quad) is out, which probably won't be long.

Sat Mar 29 201410:43Kings want Ray McCallum to attack the paint
The Kings want rookie PG Ray McCallum to attack the paint more often, rather than settling for jump shots.
"If he can get to the foul line six times a night, he becomes such a different player," said coach Mike Malone. "Now you're no longer just a jump shooter, you're a guy who can attack the basket, draw fouls and knock down your free throws." McCallum hasn't played much this season, but on a per-36-minute basis he's attempting under two free throws per game. He's also shooting 35.9 percent from the field, so it's easy to see why Sacramento wants him to be more aggressive.

Fri Mar 28 201422:35McCallum dominated, productive in blowout
Ray McCallum scored 13 points on 6-of-16 shooting (including a three) with four rebounds and five assists in another start for Isaiah Thomas (thigh, wrist, rest) on Friday.
McCallum was dominated on both sides of the floor and got his numbers in garbage time, but that will likely be the way things work if this test run gets another go. Thomas is dying to get back into the lineup but it's unclear if the team will push him to sit for another game. Judging by the way tonight's game went, they might want to keep Ray Mac from getting roasted too much.

Thu Mar 27 201401:49Ray McCallum has nice second half in loss
Ray McCallum started on Wednesday for Isaiah Thomas (quad) and struggled in the first half, but played well after the break to finish with 10 points, six rebounds, five assists and a steal on 3-of-14 shooting.
He didn't kill you if you started him, but would have been much more effective had his shot been falling. The Kings play the Thunder on Friday and if Thomas is out again, McCallum will be worth a look in daily leagues.

Wed Mar 26 201421:25Ray McCallum gets his first start
Ray McCallum will get his first start of his career in place of Isaiah Thomas (quad) on Wednesday.
He is a score-first guard, so chances are he won't have the ball in his hands too frequently. McCallum is also a bit turnover prone, but he should still get plenty of run and is worth a look as a spot start in the plus matchup.

Mon Mar 10 201411:26Ray McCallum still getting big minutes
Kings rookie Ray McCallum is averaging 10.0 points, 1.0 threes, 3.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists 0.8 steals and 0.3 turnovers over the past five games.
He's shooting just 36.9 percent on the season and he's a combined 24-of-67 from the field since Feb. 19, but with Marcus Thornton gone the Kings will continue to give McCallum heavy minutes. He has flashed some 3-point range and only has one multi-turnover game all season (he committed three turnovers on Sunday), but fantasy owners are better off leaving him untouched.

Fri Mar 7 201422:12McCallum quiet on Friday vs. Raptors
Ray McCallum scored eight points on 3-of-8 shooting (no threes) with two rebounds, two assists and two steals in 24 minutes off the bench on Friday.
Don't be surprised if he continues to get anywhere between 24-30 minutes per game, but it would take an injury to one of the Kings' Big Three before he'll get the touches necessary to return any real fantasy value. The Kings would be wise to play him next to Isaiah Thomas more since the they are the team's only plus ballhandlers.

Thu Mar 6 201401:49Ray McCallum scores career-high 15
Ray McCallum hit 7-of-10 shots and a 3-pointer to score a career-high 15 points to go along with four rebounds and an assist in Wednesday's win.
McCallum is coming on, averaging 9.0 points, 2.8 rebounds, 3.4 assists and a 3-pointer in 26 minutes a night over his last five games. If you're in a very deep league, it's time to think about grabbing him, although he saw a couple extra minutes after Isaiah Thomas' ejection tonight.

Sun Mar 2 201400:59Ray McCallum playing minutes for Kings
Ray McCallum played 28 minutes off the bench and hit 3-of-11 shots and two 3-pointers for nine points, three rebounds and five assists on Saturday.
Rookie Ben McLemore has been struggling and hit just 3-of-7 shots and a 3-pointer for seven points in 21 minutes tonight. McCallum has gotten 23 or more minutes in three straight games and while he's not exactly tearing it up, he deserves to be watched closely in case he gets hot.

Wed Feb 26 201401:43Ray McCallum plays 25 minutes in ugly loss
Ray McCallum hit 2-of-8 shots for six points, three rebounds and four assists in 25 minutes in Tuesday's blowout loss to the Rockets.
He's getting more minutes with Marcus Thornton in Brooklyn, but as long as Isaiah Thomas and Ben McLemore are healthy, it's hard to see McCallum being worth owning in most fantasy leagues. Just keep an eye on him if you're in a real deep league.

Sat Feb 22 201410:12Ray McCallum to see increase in playing time
With Marcus Thornton in Brooklyn and the Kings unable to move Jimmer Fredette at the trade deadline, Ray McCallum is expected to see a boost in playing time as the back up point guard to Isaiah Thomas.
McCallum has spent time in the D-League and done nothing in terms of fantasy (or reality) in his short career. However, it sounds like he's about to get an opportunity and owners in very deep leagues should think about putting him on their radar.

Tue Jan 21 201412:54Ray McCallum recalled from D-League
The Kings have recalled Ray McCallum from the D-League.
The Kings have spoken about giving McCallum an opportunity to play all season, but it has been mostly lip service up to this point. There is a chance that this move means they'll actually give a chance, but he is best served left on waivers until he starts to see more than the 2.8 minutes per game he's been averaging for the Kings.

Sun Jan 12 201416:27Ray McCallum back up with the Kings
Ray McCallum will not be sent to the D-League on Sunday.
He'll join the team in Sunday's game against the Cavs. McCallum is expected to get some minutes at some point of the season, but there's little reason to consider him in fantasy while Isaiah Thomas is healthy. McCallum did show a nice skill set at summer league.

Sun Dec 22 201309:40Kings coach vows to play Ray McCallum more
Kings coach Mike Malone said of rookie PG Ray McCallum, "At some point, we have to give Ray an opportunity to play."
"We have to see who he is and get a real look under the hood," Malone added. "I have to do a better job of trusting some of those guys and not running Isaiah [Thomas] into the ground, which is unfair to him." While interesting news for very deep leagues, this is unlikely to have real fantasy implications. After all, Malone said almost exactly the same thing on Dec. 10 but McCallum has played under 10 minutes in the seven games since.

Tue Dec 10 201311:01Ray McCallum to see more minutes for Kings
Ray McCallum will see more minutes as the Kings' backup point guard going forward.
Coach Michael Malone said, "The reality is we need to see Ray McCallum play. He had a tremendous training camp for us, did some really good things in the preseason, so we'll give him a look during the season at the backup one to see who he is, where he's at and what he needs to work on." McCallum only played five minutes in his first game action Monday night and will split backup duties with Jimmer Fredette for now, but he could be an interesting add in deep leagues if Malone sticks to his word.

Tue Dec 10 201301:13Ray McCallum scores first points in NBA
Ray McCallum scored the first points of his NBA career on Monday with two points in five minutes against the Mavericks.
He scored 22.3 points per game in the D-League before getting called up to play for the Kings and he's here to stay. McCallum is a score-first point guard and he'll split the backup duties with Jimmer Fredette for now.

Wed Nov 27 201316:38Kings bring Ray McCallum back up
The Kings have called up Ray McCallum from the Reno Big Horns.
He turned some heads at Las Vegas Summer League for his play-making ability and scored 28 points in his D-League debut on Nov. 22. McCallum still has a ways to go before getting in the rotation.

Thu Nov 21 201314:24Kings send rookie Ray McCallum to D-League
The Kings have assigned rookie PG Ray McCallum to the D-League.
McCallum will play solid minutes for the Reno Bighorns, as opposed to twiddling his thumbs on the Kings' bench night after night. He may eventually be called up, but for now he's not a fantasy option.

Wed Nov 20 201309:34Ray McCallum will play in D-League this year
Kings rookie Ray McCallum will "definitely" spend time in the D-League this season, according to coach Mike Malone.
The duo of Greivis Vasquez and Isaiah Thomas are dominating PG minutes and McCallum needs the D-League to gain more on-court experience. "A lot of NBA players, young guys, they view that as a demotion," said Malone. "My thing to Ray is you haven't played a game since Oct. 13 when we played the Clippers in the preseason. [The D-League] is great for you. Go down and get as many minutes as you can under your belt."
