Tue Feb 10 201514:51Payne dealt to Timberwolves on Tuesday
Payne was dealt to the Timberwolves on Tuesday, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
The Hawks will receive a future, lottery-protected first-round pick from the Timberwolves for Payne, whom they selected 15th overall in 2014. The Michigan State product has appeared in only three games this season and has spent four separate stints in the D-League. As a big man who can step out and shoot the three, he's an intriguing prospect, but the Hawks simply didn't have room in their rotation this season. The move to trade Payne frees up a roster spot for the Hawks, who may look to add a veteran at the deadline.

Mon Jan 12 201514:01The Hawks recalled Payne from Austin of D-League on Monday
The Hawks recalled Payne from Austin of the D-League on Monday, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Payne will return to Atlanta after spending nearly two weeks in the D-League. Minutes have been hard to come by for Payne at the NBA level, and that's unlikely to change as the Hawks continue to roll.
Tue Dec 30 201416:41Payne reassigned to Austin Toros of D-League on Tuesday
Payne was reassigned to the Austin Toros of the D-League on Tuesday, Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
The rookie out of Michigan State was considered one of the more NBA-ready prospects in the 2014 draft, but after suffering a foot injury near the end of the preseason, Payne has only played in one NBA game.
Mon Dec 22 201413:25Payne recalled from D-League to Hawks
Payne has been recalled from the D-League to the Hawks, Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Payne will make his NBA debut against the Mavericks, but will be buried in the depth chart. The power forward brings good size with a shooting touch that was effective at Michigan State, but he's not worth a pick-up in non-dynasty leagues for now.
Tue Dec 9 201417:03Payne will play for Austin Toros
Payne will play for the Austin Toros, rather than the Fort Wayne Mad Ants, on his latest D-League assignment, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Payne will go through the NBA's new "flexible assignment system," which allows him to play for the Toros because the Hawks' shared affiliate, Fort Wayne, is already at its capacity of four NBA assignees (John Jenkins, Mike Muscala, Russ Smith, Glen Rice, Jr.). Payne will join the Toros for their upcoming three games in four nights slate, which concludes Sunday in Oklahoma City. The rookie will then likely return to the Hawks.
Mon Dec 8 201418:31Payne assigned to Fort Wayne of NBA's D-League on Monday
Payne was assigned to Fort Wayne of the NBA's D-League on Monday, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
In six games to date at the affiliate, Payne has put up 13.5 points (on 41 percent shooting), 10.5 rebounds, and 2.3 assists in 31 minutes per contest. With nary an occasion to trot out the Hawks' 2014 first-round pick, he'll likely continue to oscillate between the two leagues until the opportunity arises for his NBA debut.

Payne was recalled from the D-League on Saturday, the Atlanta Journal Constitution's Chris Vivlamore reports.

Payne will be assigned to the D-League's Fort Wayne Mad Ants on Friday, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Payne just returned to the Hawks on Sunday following his stay with the D-League affiliate, but with a spot in coach Mike Budenholzer's rotation not in the offing for the rookie first-rounder, he'll pick up some more playing time with Fort Wayne, who will play six games in the next 10 days. The former Michigan State standout has been inactive for 12 of 13 games this season for the Hawks.
Sun Nov 23 201418:38Payne recalled from D-League on Sunday
Payne was recalled from the D-League on Sunday.
Payne spent the weekend playing in two D-League games for Fort Wayne, averaging 12 points and 10 rebounds in 31 minutes. He isn't likely to make much of a contribution with the Hawks, barring an injury in the frontcourt.
Thu Nov 20 201412:44Payne assigned to D-League on Thursday
Payne was assigned to the D-League on Thursday, Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
The rookie out of Michigan State dealt with a foot injury at the end of the preseason, which set him back and prevented him from cracking the early-season rotation. He's been a healthy inactive for the past few games, and the team will send him down to the D-League for the weekend, where he'll have an opportunity to play starter's minutes on a nightly basis.

Payne (foot) was active and available to play in Wednesday's game, but he was a Coach's Decision-DNP.
Payne missed the Hawks' first six games dealing with plantar fasciitis in his left foot. He's unlikely to be a big part of the Hawks' rotation as long as they're fielding a healthy roster. Payne is a rookie out of Michigan State. He can stretch the floor but is also a capable rebounder. His skillset fits what has largely become the protypical skills for modern NBA players, so once he gets an opportunity for consistent minutes, Payne should be of use in fantasy leagues for his scoring, three-pointers, and rebounds. Unfortunately, it's unlikely that Payne will have much value as a rookie.

Payne (foot) is considered probable for Wednesday's game against the Jazz, Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Payne is yet to play this season while battling plantar fasciitis. At this point, it's difficult to assess how he'll fit into the rotation, so it's probably best to employ a wait-and-see approach until the rookie has a few NBA games under his belt.
Sat Nov 8 201412:57Payne (foot) will not play in Saturday's game
Payne (foot) will not play in Saturday's game, the Atlanta Journal Constitution's Chris Vivlamore reports.
The Hawks' first round pick has yet to make his season debut as he deals with plantar fasciitis. Consider him day-to-day.
Thu Nov 6 201416:10Payne (foot) will not play Friday against Hornets
Payne (foot) will not play Friday against the Hornets, Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Payne continues to battle plantar fasciitis, and he'll sit out his fourth consecutive game. It's unknown when he'll be able to return, but the fact that he's been ruled out more than 24 hours before Friday's game isn't the most encouraging of signs.
Tue Nov 4 201415:27Payne (foot) ruled out for Wednesday's game against Spurs
Payne (foot) has been ruled out for Wednesday's game against the Spurs, Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Plantar fasciitis will keep Payne out of action once again, and he'll now look toward Friday's matchup with Charlotte as his next opportunity to take the court. The rookie out of Michigan State is yet to play this season.
Mon Nov 3 201415:52Payne (foot) unlikely to play against Spurs on Wednesday
Payne (foot) is unlikely to play against the Spurs on Wednesday, Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Payne, who missed Saturday's game against the Pacers, continues to deal with plantar fasciitis in his left foot. The Hawks have not provided an update on his status, though the fact that he's already deemed unlikely to play two days before Wednesday's matchup indicates that his foot isn't close to healed.

Payne has platar fasciitis in his left foot and will not play Saturday against the Pacers, the Atlanta Journal Constitution's Chris Vivlamore reports.
Payne has long-term upside, but he wasn't likely to play a major role on this Hawks team, at least not in the early going, so this shouldn't significantly hinder his fantasy value for those in very deep leagues.
Sun Jul 27 201410:11Adreian Payne adjusting to speed of NBA
Adreian Payne is adjusting to the speed of the NBA game.
"Being able to shoot the ball translates to any level," said Payne. "But it's a lot different with the speed of the game and the players are more athletic. So, I'm just trying to get more comfortable out there and trying to find the pace of the game, so the shots still come and I'm in rhythm." Payne is a talented player, but he's not likely to start out the 2014-15 season as a rotation player, taking him out of the conversation in standard leagues.

Fri Jul 25 201416:19Hawks officially sign rookie Adreian Payne
The Hawks officially signed rookie Adreian Payne on Friday.
The Hawks took Payne with the No. 15 pick in the 2014 draft, and he officially became a member of the team on Friday. Payne spent four years at Michigan State, and finished his college career as the all-time leader for Michigan in blocked shots with 141. The talent is there for Payne, but he is joining a crowded frontcourt in Atlanta, and he will struggle to get minutes behind Paul Millsap and Al Horford. He's not expected to be a rotation player at the start of the 2014-15 season.
