Sun Dec 11 202200:12Dennis Smith Jr. Remains Sidelined On Sunday
Charlotte Hornets guard Dennis Smith Jr. (ankle) won't play against the 76ers on Sunday. The 25-year-old had averaged 10.0 points, 6.5 assists, and 1.9 steals in 11 starts while filling in for LaMelo Ball (ankle) before going down with the injury. However, with Smith missing his previous seven contests, Terry Rozier will probably remain at the one spot, giving him an increase in usage and offensive opportunities. Theo Maledon, who had eight points and six rebounds in 26 minutes in Friday's loss to the Knicks, should continue to benefit as well.

Tue Dec 6 202222:58Dennis Smith Jr. Still Plagued By Sprained Ankle
Charlotte Hornets guard Dennis Smith Jr. (ankle) remains out on Wednesday against Brooklyn. LaMelo Ball (ankle) won't play either, so Terry Rozier should continue to handle things at the one, with Theo Maledon expected to receive additional minutes from the bench. While Rozier will likely see an increase in usage and assists as the primary ball handler, Meledon probably won't offer much to fantasy managers.

Thu Dec 1 202223:40Dennis Smith Jr. Won't Play Against The Wizards
Charlotte Hornets guard Dennis Smith Jr. (ankle) won't suit up for Friday's meeting with Washington. With LaMelo Ball (ankle) limited to just three games this season, Smith has started 11 times. Outside of his rough shooting percentages, he's played well, averaging 10.0 points, 6.5 assists, and 1.9 steals. However, without Ball and Smith on the floor, Theo Maledon, who had 11 points, eight assists, and three steals on Monday versus Boston, is expected to remain in the starting lineup. Maledon also had five turnovers and went 4-for-13 from the field, something fantasy managers should consider.

Fri Nov 25 202211:37Dennis Smith Jr. Won't Suit Up Against Timberwolves
Charlotte Hornets guard Dennis Smith Jr. (ankle) was forced to exit the team's last game early due to an ankle sprain. It seems as though it wasn't just a minor tweak as he'll be forced to miss at least one game. Since LaMelo Ball (ankle) is also out on Friday, Terry Rozier will see a big usage increase and Theo Maledon will likely see a lot of minutes off of the bench. Maledon could be a streaming option in deeper leagues, but he'd be hard to trust in smaller ones that probably have better waiver wire options.

Wed Nov 23 202220:16Dennis Smith Jr. Exits Wednesday's Game
Charlotte Hornets guard Dennis Smith Jr. (ankle) was forced to exit early during Wednesday's game against the Philadelphia 76ers. The 24-year-old can't catch a break as this is the third time he has sprained his left ankle this season. This is bad timing with the Hornets already missing LaMelo Ball (ankle) as well. Terry Rozier and Theo Maledon will be asked to help fill the void. Between the two, Rozier is the better fantasy option, assuming Smith is forced to miss more time.

Sat Nov 19 202223:25Dennis Smith Jr. Questionable Again
Charlotte Hornets guard Dennis Smith Jr. (ankle) is questionable for Sunday's matchup with the Washington Wizards. The 24-year-old has played well while filling for LaMelo Ball (ankle), averaging 10.0 points, 6.5 assists, and 1.9 steals in 11 starts this season. However, he's dealing with an ankle issue of his own and has missed the last four games. If Smith can't play, Terry Rozier will likely be the primary ball-handler and log plenty of minutes. Gordon Hayward, P.J. Washington, and Kelly Oubre Jr. should also be on the court for a significant portion of the contest.

Wed Nov 16 202218:31Dennis Smith Jr. Downgraded To Out Against Pacers
Charlotte Hornets guard Dennis Smith Jr. (ankle) will not suit up on Wednesday night against the Indiana Pacers. He was already declared doubtful for the game to begin with, but it's now official that he won't play. Since LaMelo Ball and Terry Rozier are both back, Smith was going to take a hit to his minutes and usage anyway. Since he'll be out for this game, James Bouknight and Theo Maledon will get a little more playing time off of the bench. It's not recommended to use either one of them as streaming options.

Tue Nov 15 202221:39Dennis Smith Jr. Unlikely To Play Wednesday
Charlotte Hornets guard Dennis Smith Jr. (ankle) is listed as doubtful to play Wednesday against the Indiana Pacers. Smith is likely heading toward his third straight missed game with an ankle sprain. With Terry Rozier and LaMelo Ball at full strength, Smith's absence only leaves a backup role for Theo Maledon. Maledon does not have much fantasy value unless another injury occurs.

Mon Nov 14 202218:06Dennis Smith Jr. Remains Out On Monday
Charlotte Hornets guard Dennis Smith Jr. (ankle) has been ruled out for Monday's game against the Orlando Magic. The 24-year-old will miss at least one more game, but head coach Steve Clifford is hopeful that Smith can play on Wednesday. His absence should result in Theo Maledon getting more minutes. However, he isn't a reliable streaming option with LaMelo Ball healthy and back on the court. It's uncertain if Smith will have much fantasy appeal with Ball healthy and playing his full workload again.

Fri Nov 11 202222:57Dennis Smith Jr. Questionable Versus The Heat
Charlotte Hornets guard Dennis Smith Jr. (ankle) is questionable heading toward the rematch with the Heat. The 24-year-old tweaked his left ankle nearly a week ago. However, he's been playing through it, although he re-injured it during Thursday's overtime loss to Miami. With LaMelo Ball (ankle) remaining out on Saturday, Smith would continue to start if he's available. Yet, if Smith can't suit up, James Bouknight may take his place in the lineup.

Fri Nov 11 202220:57Dennis Smith Jr. Questionable For Saturday
Charlotte Hornets point guard Dennis Smith Jr. (ankle) is considered questionable for Saturday's matchup against Miami. He rolled his left ankle in a meeting with the Heat on Thursday and wasn't able to complete the game. Smith Jr. also sprained the same ankle earlier in the month in a game against Brooklyn, so he's had some bad luck in recent weeks. The 24-year-old has enjoyed a very productive run in the team whilst a number of his teammates have been nursing injuries. LaMelo Ball (ankle) will still be out Saturday, meaning Smith Jr. would have another opportunity to play a big role, but his awful luck with injuries might rob him of the chance. James Bouknight and Theo Maledon could benefit if Smith Jr. is unavailable, while Terry Rozier will get all the minutes he can handle.

Thu Nov 10 202222:21Dennis Smith Jr. Exits Thursday's Game
Charlotte Hornets guard Dennis Smith Jr. (ankle) was forced to exit early during Thursday's game against the Miami Heat. The 24-year-old has been seeing an extended role with the Hornets shorthanded at guard. Sadly, Smith suffered a right ankle sprain and was forced to exit during the first minute of the overtime contest against Miami on Thursday. Hopefully, this isn't a serious injury and Smith won't be forced to miss time because of this problem. He finished with 12 points, two rebounds, and eight assists before exiting the contest.

Mon Nov 7 202218:11Dennis Smith Jr. Intends To Play Against Washington
Charlotte Hornets guard Dennis Smith Jr. (ankle) intends to play against the Wizards, according to head coach Steve Clifford. The 24-year-old tweaked his ankle versus Brooklyn on Saturday night, limiting him to just six minutes of action. Smith has averaged 10.3 points, 6.3 assists, 4.3 rebounds, and 2.0 steals in eight starts this season. However, he may not be as productive with Terry Rozier back in the lineup.

Mon Nov 7 202208:21Dennis Smith Jr. Regarded As Questionable
Charlotte Hornets point guard Dennis Smith Jr. (ankle) is considered questionable for Monday's game against Washington after he sprained his left ankle over the weekend versus Brooklyn. Smith has enjoyed a good run early in the campaign, getting 10.4 points per game with 3.8 rebounds and 5.8 assists. However, fantasy managers should start preparing for life after him, as Terry Rozier returned from a seven-game absence against the Nets and LaMelo Ball's (ankle) season debut should be just around the corner as well. With Ball still out and Smith possibly joining him on the sidelines, James Bouknight could be set for a busy evening in the Charlotte backcourt Monday.

Sun Nov 6 202200:21Dennis Smith Jr. Injures Ankle On Saturday Night
Charlotte Hornets guard Dennis Smith Jr. (ankle) didn't return to Saturday's loss to the Brooklyn Nets. The 2017 No. 9 overall pick lasted only seven minutes before succumbing to a sprained left ankle. It's unfortunate timing for Smith, primarily since he has averaged 11.6 points, 6.2 assists, and 2.2 steals while shooting 42.9% from deep this season. He might miss time moving ahead, including Monday's game against the Washington Wizards. However, LaMelo Ball (ankle) may be back by the time Smith can return, so his days in the starting lineup are likely over. He still could remain in the rotation, so fantasy managers should hang on to him for now and see how things play out.

Wed Jan 26 202218:17Dennis Smith Jr. Questionable For Wednesday
Portland Trail Blazers guard Dennis Smith Jr. (ankle) is listed as questionable for Wednesday's game against the Dallas Mavericks. He played only 12 minutes on Tuesday, so possibly he suffered the right ankle sprain during that game. However, Smith normally doesn't have a huge role in the rotation anyway. Anfernee Simons and C.J. McCollum are ahead of him on the depth chart and it should stay that way. The absence of Smith will mean more value for Simons and McCollum on Wednesday.

Wed Jan 19 202218:59CJ Elleby, Dennis Smith Jr. Available On Wednesday
Portland Trail Blazers guards CJ Elleby (ankle) and Dennis Smith Jr. (ankle) will be available for Wednesday's game against the Miami Heat. The Blazers are finally getting healthy, so neither of these players have too much value. Elleby is likely only going to play minutes in the teens going forward. Smith has shown flashes during this season, but is behind Anfernee Simons on the depth chart. That being said, neither are trustworthy streaming options for Wednesday's slate. Both are likely going to slide back into their rotational roles with minutes in the teens or possibly low 20s.

Fri Dec 31 202119:14Dennis Smith Jr. Available Against Lakers
Portland Trail Blazers guard Dennis Smith Jr. is available for Friday's game against the Los Angeles Lakers. Smith has cleared COVID-19 protocols and is allowed to return to the court. That being said, he could have an increased role due to the fact Anfernee Simons is in protocols. He won't see enough minutes to warrant adding in standard formats. However, Smith could have some low-end appeal in deep leagues with Simons sidelined.

Mon Dec 27 202121:24Dennis Smith Jr. Out On Monday Night
Portland Trail Blazers guard Dennis Smith Jr. entered health and safety protocols and won't play on Monday night against Dallas. Jusuf Nurkic, Ben McLemore, and Robert Covington carry the same designation, and with C.J. McCollum (lung) remaining out, the team will surely be short-handed. Fortunately, Damian Lillard (personal) is available, so he and Norman Powell should get most of the work offensively against the Mavericks. Anfernee Simons, Larry Nance Jr., and ... [More]

Sun Dec 19 202116:49Dennis Smith Jr. Available On Sunday
Portland Trail Blazers point guard Dennis Smith Jr. (knee) is ready to play on Sunday against Memphis after missing three games. The 24-year-old had just hit some nice form before dropping out of the lineup with right knee inflammation. He benefited from Damian Lillard's and Anfernee Simons' injuries, so there's really no reason to expect fireworks from him on Sunday. However, Smith Jr. at least provides a warm body for a team that's struggled to stay healthy all season.
