Tue Jun 1110:01Victor Mesa Jr. Having Strong Season In Triple-A
Miami Marlins outfield prospect Victor Mesa Jr. has been putting together a strong season for Triple-A Jacksonville thus far. Over his first 53 games for Jacksonville, Mesa has hit .273 with 10 homers, 37 RBI and four stolen bases to go along with an .811 OPS. The 22-year-old out of Cuba has continued to show that his power game is legit after going yard for 18 homers in 2023 for Double-A Pensacola. Mesa swings the bat from the left side and is good at spreading the ball all across the field with his quick bat speed. Although he could use better plate discipline, Mesa is looking prepared for the next step and that could come this season with the Marlins likely to entertain offers on their current outfielders. Mesa would be an intriguing pickup in redraft leagues pending a promotion, but his best value is in dynasty formats.

Tue May 700:42Victor Mesa Jr. Continues To Hit Well At Triple-A
Miami Marlins outfield prospect Victor Mesa Jr. continues to hit for Triple-A Jacksonville, now with at least one hit in 22 of 27 games in 2024 and slashing .316/.377/.526. The 22-year-old has five home runs on the season and is keeping strikeouts to a minimum with a 16.0% K%. After stealing 16 bases in 2023, Mesa finally stole his first base of the season on Sunday as well. The left-handed hitter appears to be knocking on the door of the majors, and there's no reason to keep him in the minors with the lack of production in front of him and Marlins management all but waving the white flag on the season already.

Mon Apr 2923:58Victor Mesa Jr. Collects Three Hits Sunday
Miami Marlins outfield prospect Victor Mesa Jr. went 3-for-4 with a walk and a run scored on Sunday for Triple-A Jacksonville. The Marlins' top-ranked offensive prospect is having a great season for the Jumbo Shrimp, slashing .298/.362/.500 with four home runs, 14 RBI, 15 runs scored, and a 7:8 BB:K. Strikingly though, the 22-year-old has yet to record a stolen base thus far after swiping 16 bags last season. With the Marlins losers of seven straight and owners of the worst win percentage in all of baseball, it wouldn't be surprising to see Mesa Jr. get the call to the majors at some point this season. Jesus Sanchez and Nick Gordon haven't done much of note this season and Mesa Jr. is already on the 40-man roster.

Wed Apr 1722:46Victor Mesa Jr. Homers In Second Straight Game
Miami Marlins outfield prospect Victor Mesa Jr. had his second straight three-hit game and second straight game with a home run for Triple-A Jacksonville on Wednesday. After starting the season 4-for-22 (.181) with no home runs, the 22-year-old has gone 10-for-21 (.476) with three home runs over his last five games. Last season the lefty hit just .242 in 123 games at Double-A but he belted 18 home runs as a 21-year-old. In 2024, the Marlins' top-ranked offensive prospect is hitting .387 with three doubles, three home runs, nine RBI, and six runs scored. Per MLB.com, Mesa Jr. has an ETA of 2025, however, if the Marlins continue on their current path of futility it could make sense to get him some big league at-bats this season.
