Wed Dec 5 2012 | 10:52 | D-Backs have made offer to Barajas |

For what it's worth, Sanchez wouldn't be surprised if the D-Backs bring back Wil Nieves as Miguel Montero's backup. Barajas will likely want more playing time, despite hitting just .206/.283/.343 with 11 homers and a .625 OPS this season while throwing out just six percent (6-for-99) of attempted basestealers. |

Rod Barajas said he's willing to take a pay cut in order to remain with the Pirates next season. |
The Pirates hold a $3.5 million option on the catcher that they seem likely to decline, but Barajas doesn't mind coming back at a lesser rate. "I would like to be back here," Barajas said. "If that means we have to try to figure something out, then absolutely." The 37-year-old is batting just .197 with nine homers and 25 RBI this season. |

Rod Barajas went 0-for-3 on Monday and is hitting just .125 in 72 at-bats since the All-Star break. |
The Pirates knew Barajas wasn't going to hit for average or get on base, but he hasn't supplied his usual power with eight homers and 22 RBI in 252 at-bats. Michael McKenry will continue to get plenty of playing time for the foreseeable future. |

Rod Barajas played the hero against the Nationals on Tuesday, drilling a two-out, two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Pirates a 5-4 win. |
Talk about unlikely circumstances. Barajas has been nothing short of abysmal this season, and was 0-3 on the night heading into the late at-bat against fire-balling Nationals reliever Henry Rodriguez. The home run was Barajas' first of the year. He's still hitting a paltry .141. |

Rod Barajas was ejected from Wednesday's game for arguing balls and strikes while behind the plate. |

Fri Apr 27 2012 | 23:47 | Barajas hitless in Pirates loss |
Rod Barajas' early season hitting woes continued against the Braves on Friday, finishing 0-for-3 including a double play ground out. |
Barajas was signed this off-season to provide a stable offensive presence behind the dish for the Pirates, and he's been anything but that so far. He's hitting an uninspiring .114 with no RBI on the season, and could be in danger of losing his job soon. |

Fri Apr 13 2012 | 00:55 | Barajas now 1-for-14 on the season |
Rod Barajas popped out as a pinch-hitter in Thursday's loss to the Dodgers. |
Barajas was swinging for the downs against his former team, but skied one to shortstop Dee Gordon for the final out of the game. The free-swinging backstop has just one hit in his first 14 at-bats this season to go along with four strikeouts and (of course) zero walks. He doesn't have much appeal outside of NL-only formats. |

Thu Nov 10 2011 | 12:22 | Barajas will make $4 million next season |
According to Tim Brown of Yahoo! Sports, Rod Barajas will earn $4 million with the Pirates next season while the contract includes a $3.5 million club option for 2013. |
In other words, he'll get a slight raise from the $3.25 million he made in 2011. According to Jon Heyman of SI.com, the 2013 option does not include a buyout. Barajas should be able to produce enough to match his salary next season, but this contract is probably good news for a superior free agent catcher like Ramon Hernandez. |
