Sun Jun 209:52Sean Manaea Strikes Out 10 In LossSean ManaeaSPAthleticsFree Agent
New York Mets starting pitcher Sean Manaea went five-and-two-thirds innings in Saturday's 10-5 loss to the Diamondbacks, striking out a season-high 10 batters but surrendering six runs (five earned) on six hits and two walks. Manaea took the loss in the game and it ended a 7-game stretch in which he had allowed three earned runs or less. On the season, the lefty is now 3-2 with a 3.73 ERA, 1.30 WHIP, and a 57:24 K:BB over 57 innings pitched (11 starts). He'll likely face the Phillies in his next start during next weekend's London Series.

Sun Jun 208:48Matt Olson Hits Ninth Home Run In LossMatt Olson1BAthleticsFree Agent
Atlanta Braves first baseman Matt Olson went 2-for-4 with a double and a home run in Saturday's 11-9 loss to the Athletics. The 2x All-Star also walked once, scored once, and collected two RBI in the contest. After a poor 31-game start that left his slashline at .195/.319/.363 with three home runs, the slugger has picked up the pace, going 28-for-95 (.295) with six home runs over his last 25 games and raising his season-long slashline to a more respectable .240/.328/.447. Fantasy managers may find some solace in the fact that the slugger started off 2023 slowly as well, but from June 1 through the end of the season, he hit .309 with 37 home runs, 97 RBI, and 83 runs scored.

Oakland A's outfielder Brent Rooker went 2-for-5 with a home run and four RBI in Saturday's 11-9 win over the Atlanta Braves. Rooker took Chris Sale deep for a two-run shot in the top of the fourth inning to put the Braves up 8-3. It was his 12th long ball of the season. He later followed up his home run with a two-run double in the top sixth, giving him four RBI for the day. Rooker extended his on-base streak to 12 games. Overall, Rooker is slashing .283/.364/.561 with 12 home runs, 39 RBI, 25 runs, and two stolen bases over 47 games in 2024.

The 27-year-old has logged a hit in eight of his last nine games, including 11 hits in his previous 26 at-bats. Mountcastle is slashing .293/.333/.505 with eight homers, 24 RBI, and 31 runs over 51 games this season. Batting cleanup in the potent Orioles lineup makes Mountcastle a must-start.

Oakland A's outfielder Miguel Andujar had his third multi-hit game this week on Saturday, going 4-for-5 with a homer and four RBI in an 11-9 win at the Atlanta Braves. Andujar hit a three-run blast off Braves hurler Chris Sale in the second inning and added a game-clinching RBI single in the eighth. He's been at a blistering .448/.433/.724 pace with 12 RBI in his first seven games with Oakland. He's unlikely to maintain the run but is worth consideration in AL-only or deeper fantasy leagues.

Sat Jun 122:57Reid Detmers Optioned To Triple-A Salt LakeReid DetmersSPAngelsFree Agent
The Los Angeles Angels optioned left-hander Reid Detmers to Triple-A Salt Lake following Saturday's 9-0 loss to the Seattle Mariners. Detmers allowed five runs on four hits and four walks while striking out three across 3 2/3 innings in Saturday's loss to Seattle. Most of the damage to Detmers came off a grand slam to Mariners shortstop J.P. Crawford. The 24-year-old has struggled this season, posting a 6.14 ERA, 1.48 WHIP, and 70 strikeouts over 63 innings. He has allowed at least five runs in five of his last seven starts. Detmers will look to get back on track in Triple-A and is mainly a stash in deep-league formats.

Sat Jun 122:48Garrett Crochet Delivers Strong Outing For White SoxGarrett CrochetRPWhite SoxFree Agent
Chicago White Sox starter Garrett Crochet recorded his eighth quality start in a no-decision in Saturday's 4-3 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers in 10 innings. Crochet allowed just one earned run and struck out eight while allowing only one walk over his six innings. The big lefty continues to be a must-start regardless of format, as he has a 5-5 record with a 3.49 ERA and a 0.93 WHIP that is fifth-best in baseball. Crochet's next start might be more challenging, considering he faces the Red Sox at hitter-friendly Guaranteed Rate Field on Friday. Despite the tough matchup, fantasy managers should continue to roll with Crochet in all league formats.

Sat Jun 122:34Chris Sale Endures Worst Outing Of Season Against A'sChris SaleSPRed SoxFree Agent
Atlanta Braves left-hander Chris Sale's 2024 comeback story had its worst chapter on Saturday when the Braves hurler was tagged for nine hits and eight earned runs over four innings in the 11-9 defeat to the Oakland A's. Sale came into the start with a 2.12 ERA but left with an ERA of 3.06 despite taking a no-decision. Sale struck out four and walked one but gave up homers to Miguel Andujar and Brent Rooker. Expect Sale, who is 8-1 with a still-stellar 0.95 WHIP with 82 strikeouts over 67 2/3 innings, to rebound when he faces the Nationals in his next start scheduled for Friday.

Oscar ColásFree Agent
Chicago White Sox outfielder Oscar Colas was called up to the big league roster on Saturday. Andrew Benintendi (Achilles) is expected to be placed on the injured list in a corresponding move. The 25-year-old is slashing .244/.358/.406 with five home runs, 21 RBI, 25 runs, and six stolen bases over 46 games for Triple-Charlotte last year. He does have fantasy upside after slashing .314/.371/.524 in 526 plate appearances between High-A Winston-Salem, Double-A Birmingham, and Triple-A Charlotte in 2022. Colas has a path to everyday playing time and is worth adding to deep-league formats.

Sat Jun 119:43Yordan Alvarez Smashes Two Bombs On SaturdayYordan AlvarezDHAstrosFree Agent
Houston Astros outfielder Yordan Alvarez smashed two home runs off of Minnesota Twins starter Joe Ryan on Saturday during the Astros' 5-2 win over the Twins. Alvarez collected another hit and a walk en route to a perfect three-for-three day with three RBI. His first was a two-run shot in the first inning and his second was a solo shot in the fifth inning. The powerful lefty had been struggling a bit with his power this season, seeing his ISO drop from .290 in 2023 to .173 prior to today's game. Notching multiple HR is a great sign for the lefty's power going forward. Fantasy managers need not worry about Alvarez going forward and he should continue to be in starting lineups as often as possible.

Sat Jun 118:54Andrew Benintendi Exits Early With Achilles TendinitisAndrew BenintendiLFRoyalsFree Agent
Chicago White Sox outfielder Andrew Benintendi left today's contest against the Milwaukee Brewers early with Achilles tendinitis, according to the team. Benintendi had hit a a solo shot in the top of the third and then was pulled. The lefty was replaced by Dominic Fletcher. More information in regards to the injury has yet to be released by the team, but Benintendi should be considered day-to-day until his status is clarified. Should Benintendi happen to miss much time then Fletcher should be expected to play in his place. The 29-year-old had been having a very subpar season prior to today's game so fantasy managers shouldn't hesitate to drop Benintendi if they're worried about his status going forward.

Sat Jun 115:16Yimi Garcia Likely First Closing Option For Blue JaysYimi GarcíaRPAstrosFree Agent
Toronto Blue Jays reliever Yimi Garcia is likely the club's first closing option with Jordan Romano (elbow) being placed on the 15-day injured list on Saturday, according to skipper John Schneider. Schneider also mentioned that right-hander Chad Green could also see some save opportunities but Garcia is certainly the reliever of choice for fantasy managers considering the season he has enjoyed to this point. The 33-year-old has worked to a tidy 1.23 ERA alongside a 32.1% K% in 21 appearances spanning 22 innings of work. Garcia has also earned a pair of saves after beginning the season as the Jays' closer with both Romano and Erik Swanson on the IL. Considering this is Romano's second elbow-related trip to the injured list (and his 6.59 ERA) this season and Swanson being optioned to Triple-A, there's a real chance Garcia could be the team's No. 1 closer even upon Romano's return from the injured list.

Sat Jun 114:48Danny Jansen On The Bench SaturdayDanny JansenCBlue JaysFree Agent
Toronto Blue Jays catcher Danny Jansen is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's afternoon contest against the visiting Pittsburgh Pirates. The 29-year-old went 0-for-4 with a pair of walks and a run scored in Friday's extra-innings win but will give way to Alejandro Kirk behind the dish on Saturday. Jansen is in the midst of an excellent season that has seen him hit .287 with five homers alongside a .906 OPS across 116 trips to the plate as he dealt with a broken hand earlier in the season. His productive bat has not only given him the lion's share of starts over Kirk behind the plate but has earned him a spot in the two-hole on a regular basis of late. He has emerged an excellent No. 1 catcher for fantasy managers in the 2024 campaign.

Sat Jun 113:55Sean Murphy Getting Saturday OffSean MurphyCAthleticsFree Agent
Atlanta Braves catcher Sean Murphy will be getting the day off on Saturday as the Braves continue a three-game set against the Oakland Athletics. Instead, Travis d'Arnaud will get the nod behind the dish and bat in the six-hole. Murphy was recently reinstated from the injured list with an oblique injury this week but has tallied just two hits across four games. Travis d'Arnaud has posted a solid .260/.329/.480 line with five long balls and 21 RBI through 43 games this season. He is worth considering in DFS this afternoon as he will face Oakland right-hander Aaron Brooks, who enters this game with a 3.63 ERA and 1.56 WHIP.

Sat Jun 113:44Mark Canha Remains Sidelined On SaturdayMark CanhaLFAthleticsFree Agent
Detroit Tigers outfielder Mark Canha (hip) remains out of the starting lineup again on Saturday. The 35-year-old was a late scratch on Friday and will once again be sitting out due to hip discomfort. Chris McCosky reports that there is no inclination that Canha will not go on the injured list and that the team will wait until how his hip holds up for the time being. Rookie Colt Keith will slot in as the designated hitter and bat fifth this afternoon, which opens up the keystone for Zach McKinstry, who will bat in the seven-hole. Keith is worth a look in DFS as he has posted a strong .378 AVG with two home runs in his past eleven games. He will face Red Sox right-hander Cooper Criswell who enters Saturday with a 4.19 ERA.

Sat Jun 113:03Jordan Romano Placed On The 15-Day Injured ListJordan RomanoRPBlue JaysFree Agent
Toronto Blue Jays relief pitcher Jordan Romano (elbow) was placed on the 15-day injured list with right-elbow inflammation on Saturday, June 1. In a corresponding move, Brendon Little was promoted from Triple-A. The closer has been dealing with soreness in his elbow since Wednesday of this week and will now be sidelined for an extended period. In addition, the 31-year-old battled a similar injury earlier in the spring, which delayed his start to the season. Romano has pitched only 13 innings this season to the tune of a poor 6.59 ERA, 1.46 WHIP, and 4:13 BB:K ratio. As a result, Yimi Garcia and Chad Green are both candidates to see the majority of save opportunities while Romano remains sidelined.

Sat Jun 112:51Cedric Mullins Retreats To The BenchCedric MullinsCFOriolesFree Agent
Baltimore Orioles outfielder Cedric Mullins is retreating to the bench on Saturday against the visiting Tampa Bay Rays. Colton Cowser will slide over to center field and bat sixth, while Kyle Stowers mans left field and hits in the eight-hole against Rays right-hander Taj Bradley. Mullins is still useful for his speed on the basepaths -- he's swiped 11 bags in 52 games this year -- but he's hitting just .185 (30-for-162) with six home runs, 22 RBI and 22 runs scored in 175 plate appearances with a career-high 25.7% strikeout rate. If Mullins continues to struggle offensively, he'll find himself on the bench more often against right-handed pitching. Stowers has gotten some run in Mullins' expense and has capitalized by going 7-for-18 with three doubles and five RBI in his first 10 games in 2024.

Sat Jun 112:34Jon Singleton, Chas McCormick Out On SaturdayJon SingletonFree Agent
Chas McCormickLF/RFAstrosFree Agent
Houston Astros first baseman Jon Singleton, outfielder Chas McCormick and catcher Yainer Diaz are all resting on Saturday against the visiting Minnesota Twins. Jose Abreu will start at first base and bat eighth, Mauricio Dubon will play left and hit seventh, and Victor Caratini will do the catching and fill out the nine-hole for Houston against Twins right-hander Joe Ryan. None of Houston's lineup replacements have a ton of DFS upside in the bottom third of the batting order against a tough pitcher. Now that Abreu is back from the minors, the 32-year-old lefty-hitting Singleton is going to find himself on the bench more often. In three games since returning to the big leagues, the struggling Abreu has two hits and an RBI in 10 plate appearances. The veteran slugger is now hitting just .111 (9-for-81) on the year and is still searching for his first homer.

Sat Jun 112:22Josh Lowe Picks Up Two Hits In Rehab GameJosh Lowe3BRaysFree Agent
Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Josh Lowe (oblique) went 2-for-4 with a run scored and two strikeouts while playing right field in a minor-league rehab game on Friday for Triple-A Durham. Lowe is going to play in a couple more games for the Bulls this weekend but is aiming to come off the 10-day injured list to join the Rays on Tuesday for their game against the Miami Marlins. The 26-year-old left-handed slugger is on the injured list for the second time this season already with a mild right-oblique strain but has progressed nicely and is on the cusp of returning for fantasy managers. When Lowe is back in the fold, Jonny DeLuca will return to being more of a bench option. Lowe has gotten off to a slow start in 2024 but needs to remain rostered in all fantasy formats after hitting 20 bombs, driving in 83 and stealing 32 bags in 2023.

Sat Jun 112:06Liam Hendriks ProgressingLiam HendriksRPWhite SoxFree Agent
Boston Red Sox relief pitcher Liam Hendriks (elbow) was able to throw fastballs and breaking pitches off the front of a mound on Thursday as he progresses in his throwing program after having Tommy John surgery. The 35-year-old Australian reliever overcame a cancer diagnosis to return to the Chicago White Sox in 2023, but he only ended up appearing in five games before undergoing elbow surgery. The three-time All-Star has 116 career saves in the big leagues over 13 seasons, so he'll bring veteran experience to the back end of Boston's bullpen when he's eventually cleared, but there's no current timetable for his return, and he's unlikely to join the team until the second half of the season. For now, Hendriks can be left to the waiver wire in most fantasy leagues, and there's no guarantee he'll be a candidate for saves in Boston as long as Kenley Jansen remains healthy.
