Thu May 4 202312:52Jake Burger Goes On Injured List
The Chicago White Sox placed infielder Jake Burger (oblique) on the 10-day injured list on Thursday with a strained left oblique and recalled infielder Lenyn Sosa from Triple-A Charlotte in a corresponding move. Burger injured himself during a swing on Wednesday night and will likely miss more than 10 days on the injured list. It's terrible timing for the 27-year-old, as he was seeing regular time at the hot corner with Yoan Moncada (back) on the injured list. With Moncada still out, Hanser Alberto will likely see most of the starts at third base in the short term. Sosa is also starting at second base on Thursday and is hitting eighth in the lineup against Twins right-hander Pablo Lopez with Tim Anderson taking a day off.

Wed May 3 202322:30Jake Burger Leaves Early With Side Discomfort
Chicago White Sox third baseman Jake Burger (side) left Wednesday's game early against the Minnesota Twins with left-side discomfort and is being further evaluated by the medical staff. Before leaving, he was 0-for-2 in the contest with a strikeout to drop his season batting average to .224. He was replaced at the hot corner by Hanser Alberto. The 27-year-old Burger injured himself on a swing in the fourth inning and was grabbing at his left side. It sounds like an oblique injury, which could easily land Burger on the injured list. Burger entered Wednesday's game hitting .231 (15-for-65) with five doubles, seven home runs, 14 RBI and 11 runs scored in 22 games played. He had been seeing regular playing time with Yoan Moncada (back) on the IL, but Alberto could now shift into regular third base duty if Burger also needs an IL stint.

Wed Jun 15 202211:58Jake Burger Not Starting Wednesday
Chicago White Sox third baseman Jake Burger (hand) took some swings on Wednesday, but he won't start against the Detroit Tigers. Burger should be available off the bench, though, and he should be ready to return on Friday against the Houston Astros after Thursday's off day. The 26-year-old had been seeing most of the playing time at the hot corner recently over the struggling Yoan Moncada, but it sounds like Burger will be back in there on Friday. He's swung a much better bat than Moncada this year, slashing .273/.322/.508 with an .829 OPS, eight home runs, 23 RBI and 18 runs scored in 38 games. Moncada will get another start at third on Wednesday and is hitting fifth against Tigers right-hander Alex Faedo.

Thu Jun 9 202218:12Jake Burger Injured Thursday
Chicago White Sox third baseman Jake Burger was removed from the game early on Thursday against the Los Angeles Dodgers with an undisclosed injury. He looked a little uncomfortable after fielding a ground ball in the sixth inning and was replaced by Yoan Moncada. Burger clubbed his seventh home run of the season, singled and scored three runs in the game before departing. The 26-year-old appeared to be shaking his leg, but we'll provide updates when there's more clarification on his injury. Burger came into the day hitting .257/.303/.469 with six home runs, 19 RBI and 12 runs scored in 113 at-bats for Chicago.
