Sanchez (ankle) was transferred to the 60-day DL on Tuesday.

Mon Sep 7 201512:07Hector Sanchez: (Ankle) Season Over
Sanchez will miss the remainder of the season due to a left ankle sprain and left hamstring strain, the Associated Press reports.
Sanchez first suffered the injury while running out a sacrifice bunt Friday night, and although initial X-rays showed no structural damage, the severity of the strain and sprain was significant enough to sideline him for the next month. Sanchez will wrap up the season with a .179/.207/.304 batting line over 59 plate appearances, and will likely enter the 2016 campaign as the Giants' No. 3 catcher if he's retained during the offseason.

Andrew Susac's return last month cost Sanchez his job as backup to Buster Posey, but with rosters expanding Tuesday, Sanchez will return to provide additional depth behind the plate. Sanchez smashed a monster grand slam in Tuesday's 9-3 win over the Padres.
Sanchez got the start behind the dish while Buster Posey got the day off. The veteran backstop took advantage of the playing time and took Padres' reliever Dale Thayer deep with the bases loaded in the sixth inning. Sanchez won't see regular playing time, so his big day at the dish likely only helped those who used him in daily leagues.

Sanchez was recalled from Triple-A Sacramento on Sunday.
Sanchez will occupy the role of Buster Posey's backup, as prior backup Andrew Susac landed on the 15-day DL Sunday with a right thumb sprain. He's a career .243 hitter, but isn't expected to make a major fantasy impact, as it's likely Sanchez is only with the club in the short term.
