Fri Sep 1316:06Kyle Schwarber Back In Phillies Lineup
Philadelphia Phillies outfielder/designated hitter Kyle Schwarber (elbow) is serving as the DH and is batting in his customary leadoff spot on Friday against the division-rival New York Mets and left-hander Jose Quintana at Citizens Bank Park. Schwarber injured his elbow during Tuesday's game while diving back into first base and was subsequently scratched from Wednesday's lineup as a result. But after a scheduled day off on Thursday, the 31-year-old is ready to roll for a crucial series this weekend against the Mets. Not only is Schwarber a must-start in all fantasy leagues when he's in the Phillies' lineup, but he has a career .333 average and an .889 OPS with a homer and four RBI in 18 at-bats against Quintana. The two-time All-Star swings and misses a lot, but he's also leading the league with 98 walks and has hit 35 homers and driven in 95 in 134 games in 2024.

Wed Sep 1116:22Kyle Schwarber Scratched From Wednesday's Lineup
Philadelphia Phillies outfielder/designated hitter Kyle Schwarber (elbow) was scratched from Wednesday's starting lineup at Citizens Bank Park against the Tampa Bay Rays. Schwarber still feels something in his left elbow when he swings after leaving Tuesday's game early after diving back to first base on a pickoff. Manager Rob Thomson said he isn't concerned about it, and Schwarber could be back in the lineup on Friday for the start of a big series against the division-rival New York Mets after a scheduled day off on Thursday. The 31-year-old All-Star slugger did go deep on Tuesday before departing the contest early, and fantasy managers should consider him to be day-to-day for now. If he cannot return to action this weekend, then you can start worrying about his status the rest of the way. Bryce Harper is the DH on Wednesday, with Kody Clemens starting at first against the Rays.

Tue Sep 1021:13Kyle Schwarber Leaves Tuesday's Game With Elbow Discomfort
Philadelphia Phillies outfielder/designated hitter Kyle Schwarber (elbow) left Tuesday's contest early against the Tampa Bay Rays at Citizens Bank Park with left-elbow discomfort, according to the Phillies. Schwarber appeared to injure his elbow when sliding back into first base on a pickoff attempt by the Rays catcher. He did damage at the plate before departing, though, going 1-for-1 with his 35th homer of the season (a solo shot) while also scoring a run and walking once. He was replaced at DH by bench player Buddy Kennedy. Expect the 31-year-old slugger to undergo testing after the game, so we won't know his status moving forward until then. Hopefully, it's just a day-to-day thing and not a serious injury. If it is serious, it could jeopardize Schwarber's available for the rest of the regular season and the playoffs. Both Kody Clemens and Weston Wilson could see more at-bats if Schwarber misses time.

Sat Sep 709:24Kyle Schwarber Homers Again, Drives In Three
Philadelphia Phillies designated hitter Kyle Schwarber went 2-for-5 with a home run, three RBI, and three runs scored in Friday's 16-2 rout over the Marlins. It was Schwarber's fifth home run in his last four games and 33rd of the season. From August 9 to September 1 (22 games), the 31-year-old limped to a .125/.228/.193 slashline, but over the last four games he's gone 10-for-19 (.526) with a pair of doubles, five home runs, 10 RBI, and eight runs scored. The 2x All-Star has authored a .249-33-92-96-5 line hitting atop the Phillies lineup with a .368 wOBA and 137 wRC+.

Wed Sep 400:18Kyle Schwarber Collects Five Hits, Three Homers Tuesday
Philadelphia Phillies outfielder/designated hitter Kyle Schwarber provided an offensive explosion in Tuesday's 10-9 win over the Blue Jays. Schwarber went 5-for-6 with a single, a double, two solo home runs, a three-run HR, six RBI, and a strikeout. His most important long ball came in the top of the ninth inning when he clobbered a Chad Green fastball into the left-field seats to put the Phillies ahead by two. The 31-year-old has pretty much provided exactly what fantasy managers were hoping for all season long, slashing .245/.369/.474 with 31 HR, 92 runs scored, 88 RBI, and five stolen bases in 591 plate appearances. He has even over-delivered in terms of batting average, although his second-half batting average has been more in line with his career average. Either way, he has been a higher-end fantasy contributor throughout the season.

The slugger drove in seven of the nine runs the Phillies would score, giving him 73 RBI on the season. The 31-year-old is 12-for-25 (.480) in August with five home runs, 10 RBI, and eight runs scored over six games. Wed Aug 708:52Kyle Schwarber Stays Hot With 24th Homer
Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Kyle Schwarber stayed scorching hot in Tuesday's victory versus the Los Angeles Dodgers. The outfielder went 2-for-5 on the evening, including a home run and stolen base. Schwarber has been swinging a red-hot bat of late, with 16 hits over his last 43 at-bats to go along with five homers, 11 RBI and a stolen base. The slugger is streaky, but can be a big difference maker when he is on a heater. For the season, he is now hitting .253 with 24 homers, 66 RBI, 76 runs and five stolen bases. Leading off for one of the better lineups in the league, providing the power he does, managers should be happy rostering one of the hottest bats in the league right now.

Tue Jul 916:07Phillies Officially Activate Kyle Schwarber From The Injured List
The Philadelphia Phillies officially activated outfielder/designated hitter Kyle Schwarber (groin) from the 10-day injured list on Tuesday, and he's serving as the DH and batting in his customary leadoff spot for the Phils in a showdown against the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers and right-hander Bobby Miller. This move had been expected since the weekend, so fantasy managers should have been ready to return Schwarber to their starting lineups everywhere. The 31-year-old left-handed slugger is a must-start when healthy and has quickly recovered from a minor groin pull. He's hitless in two career at-bats against Miller, but Schwarber has elite power and is currently hitting well above his career average of .229 at .250 (75-for-300) while adding 17 home runs, 49 RBI and a league-leading 59 walks in 79 games.

Sat Jul 621:26Kyle Schwarber Set To Return On Tuesday
Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Kyle Schwarber (groin) is expected to be activated from the injured list ahead of Tuesday's game against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Schwarber ran the bases 100 percent on Saturday, completing the final step in his injury rehab, and is good to go for Tuesday. The 31-year-old was placed on the 10-day injured list Friday with a mild left groin strain on June 28. Before landing on the IL, he slashed .250/.373/447 with 17 home runs, 49 RBI, and four stolen bases over 367 plate appearances in 2024. Schwarber will provide the Phillies and fantasy managers a power boost when he returns from the injured list early next week.

Fri Jul 519:35Kyle Schwarber Expected To Return From Injured List On Tuesday
Philadelphia Phillies outfielder/designated hitter Kyle Schwarber (groin) will run the bases on Saturday. It's the last step toward rejoining the team. Barring a setback on Saturday, Schwarber is expected to be activated from the injured list on Tuesday. First baseman Bryce Harper (hamstring) isn't far behind. It was reported on Thursday that Schwarber was doing drills at 90 percent intensity as he rehabs a mild groin strain that landed him on the IL last week. It's great news for the Phils and fantasy managers that the 31-year-old left-handed slugger will be back before the All-Star break, although he'll likely be eased back in at DH. When active, Schwarber is a must-start in all fantasy leagues for his elite power from the leadoff spot. He's currently hitting .250 (75-for-300) with 17 long balls, 49 RBI, four stolen bases and 60 runs scored in 79 games played in 2024.

Thu Jul 413:23Kyle Schwarber Doing Drills At 90% Intensity
Philadelphia Phillies manager Rob Thomson said that outfielder/designated hitter Kyle Schwarber (groin) is doing drills at 90 percent intensity. Although the All-Star break looms after next week's homestand, the Phillies won't hold Schwarber back from coming off the 10-day injured list if he's ready to return before the Midsummer Classic. The 31-year-old All-Star left-handed slugger is dealing with a mild left-groin strain and has a pretty good shot at returning before the All-Star break. The former fourth overall pick by the Chicago Cubs in 2014 should be stashed in all fantasy formats while he's on the IL, as he's an elite power bat and on-base machine atop one of the best lineups in baseball. Schwarber is currently slashing .250/.373/.447 with an .820 OPS, 17 homers, 49 RBI, 60 runs and even four stolen bases in 300 at-bats.

Tue Jul 220:07Bryce Harper, Kyle Schwarber Hit In The Cages Tuesday
Philadelphia Phillies first baseman Bryce Harper (hamstring) and outfielder/designated hitter Kyle Schwarber (groin) both hit in the batting cages on Tuesday at Wrigley Field before the game against the Chicago Cubs. Harper and Schwarber also did some jogging. "They're coming along," manager Rob Thomson said. "I don't think they're too far away. I don't know a date yet but we'll know in the next couple of days I would think." Harper and Schwarber were put on the 10-day injured list last Friday with minor injuries. They are first eligible for activation on July 9, when the team opens a six-game homestand against the Dodgers and Athletics that leads into the All-Star break. As long as neither left-handed sluggers have any setbacks, they should be back for fantasy managers before the Midsummer Classic.

Mon Jul 121:50Kyle Schwarber May Not Need Rehab Assignment
Philadelphia Phillies designated hitter Kyle Schwarber (groin) said on Sunday that he hopes to be ready as soon as he's eligible to be activated from the injured list on July 9. Manager Rob Thomson said that Schwarber was doing some jogging in the pool and weight room work. When asked if he needed a minor-league rehab assignment, Schwarber said that he'll listen to the team but emphasized that he's been fine without rehab stints in the past. Schwarber is recovering from a strained left groin, and if he's able to bypass a rehab assignment, he could rejoin the Phillies for the last few games prior to the mid-July All-Star break. Over 300 at-bats before getting injured, the 31-year-old star slugger was batting a palatable .250 with 17 home runs, 60 runs scored, 49 RBI, and four stolen bases.

Fri Jun 2814:36Kyle Schwarber Heads To 10-Day Injured List With Groin Injury
The Philadelphia Phillies placed outfielder/designated hitter Kyle Schwarber (groin) on the 10-day injured list on Friday with a mild left-groin strain. Schwarber could spend the minimum 10 days on the IL, which is great news for the Phillies, especially considering first baseman Bryce Harper (hamstring) also went on the IL on Friday. Groin tightness forced the 31-year-old left-handed-hitting Schwarber out of Thursday night's loss to the visiting Miami Marlins early. As one of the elite power hitters in the game, he must be stashed in an IL spot in all fantasy leagues while he heals up. In the meantime with the All-Star break quickly approaching, Nick Castellanos and David Dahl could see more at-bats out of the DH spot for the Phillies until Schwarber is able to return. Schwarber is hitting .250 (75-for-300) on the year with 17 long balls and 49 RBI in 79 games.

Thu Jun 2721:18Kyle Schwarber Leaves With Tight Groin Thursday
Philadelphia Phillies designated hitter Kyle Schwarber (groin) departed Thursday night's game against the division-rival Miami Marlins due to left groin tightness. Schwarber was pulled in the ninth inning and replaced in left field by Brandon Marsh, going 1-for-4 before exiting. Thursday marked just the third time this season that Schwarber appeared in the outfield, so it's fair to wonder if his body wasn't responding well to the defensive action. Consider the 31-year-old star slugger day-to-day before he's re-evaluated ahead of Friday's contest against Miami, but with the All-Star break looming, the first-place Phillies could always choose to err on the side of caution. Whit Merrifield and Edmundo Sosa are candidates for more at-bats at DH if Schwarber needs to miss a couple of games or head to the injured list.

Wed May 2919:10Kyle Schwarber Blasts Homer In Win
Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Kyle Schwarber kicked off Wednesday's game with a bang. The left-handed slugger blasted a leadoff home run off left-hander Kyle Harrison to begin the game. The 31-year-old slugger would also add an RBI single later in the game as the Phillies would grab the 6-1 win over the San Francisco Giants. Schwarber has been hitting much better lately so fantasy managers should ride with him through this hot stretch.

Mon May 2721:53Kyle Schwarber Homers, Swipes Bag Against Giants
Philadelphia Phillies designated hitter Kyle Schwarber clubbed his 10th home run of the season in Monday's loss to the hosting San Francisco Giants, adding a stolen base in the defeat. Schwarber crushed a two-run home run to right-center field off Giants left-hander Blake Snell, cutting the Phillies' deficit to 3-2 in the third inning, and he also tacked on a popup single in front of home plate in the seventh. In the month of May, the 31-year-old star slugger is slashing a strong .288/.422/.413 with two long balls, 16 RBI, 23 runs scored, and two steals over 80 at-bats as the everyday leadoff man atop Philly's loaded lineup. Keep rolling with the hot Schwarber for the remainder of the series against San Francisco, as he's batting .270 with seven big flies, 12 RBI, and 15 runs scored in 17 games for the Phils against the Giants in his career.

Mon May 1323:29Kyle Schwarber To Return To Lineup On Tuesday
Philadelphia Phillies outfielder/designated hitter Kyle Schwarber (back) will return to the starting lineup on Tuesday against the New York Met on the road at Citi Field, according to manager Rob Thomson. Schwarber was pulled late in Friday's win over the Miami Marlins with back soreness and was held out of the starting lineup on Monday for the third straight game, although he did come in to strike out as a pinch-hitter late in Monday's contest. The 31-year-old left-handed slugger's injury was never considered serious, but they wanted to hold him out for a few games as a precaution. After striking out in his pinch-hitting appearance on Monday, Schwarber is now hitting .216 on the year with a .718 OPS, nine home runs and 25 RBI in 40 games. He's leading baseball with 59 strikeouts and is going to be a drain on your team's batting average, but you can't argue with his elite power.
