Mon Sep 900:40Jack Flaherty Finally Gets Through Seven Innings
Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Jack Flaherty had a terrific start on Sunday, shutting out the Cleveland Guardians over 7 innings and picking up his 12th win. Flaherty allowed just four hits and struck out six while walking none. It was his best start as a Dodger and maybe his best start of the year as well, as it's the first time he has been able to get through seven innings this year. Despite that, he has been one of the most consistent pitchers in the majors this year and is trustworthy in basically every matchup. He is a must-start for the remaining few weeks of the fantasy season.

Sun Sep 820:18Jack Flaherty Keeps Looking Strong
Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Jack Flaherty was excellent on the mound for Sunday's game against the Cleveland Guardians. The right-hander walked no one and only allowed four hits over 7 1/3 innings of work. The Guardians had no answers for Flaherty as he continued his fantastic second half of the season. Flaherty is now 5-1 with a 2.61 ERA over sevens starts with Los Angeles. He'll look to keep the good times rolling against the Atlanta Braves during his next time out.

Sun Aug 408:34Jack Flaherty Strikes Out Seven, Wins In Dodger Debut
Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Jack Flaherty debuted with his new team on Saturday, throwing six shutout innings, allowing five hits and one walk while striking out seven on his way to picking up the win in a 10-0 victory over the Athletics. The 28-year-old is 8-5 on the season and finally looks healthy, posting a 2.80 ERA (3.03 FIP), 0.96 WHIP, and an elite 27.3% K-BB%. The former first-round draft pick will face off with the Pirates at home in his subsequent turn through the rotation next Friday.

Thu Aug 113:02Jack Flaherty To Make Dodgers Debut On Saturday
Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Jack Flaherty is set to debut with his new team on Saturday against the Oakland Athletics, according to David Vassegh of SportsNet LA. Flaherty was traded to the Dodgers on Tuesday afternoon in exchange for several prospects in the Dodgers' system, headlined by catcher Thayron Liranzo. Flaherty has enjoyed a nice bounce-back season with Detroit, holding a strong 2.95 ERA, 0.96 WHIP, and an incredible 19:133 BB:K. Under the hood, the right-hander sports a 32.0% strikeout rate and 33.2% whiff rate, which are among the best marks in the sport. Flaherty should be started in all fantasy leagues and will be a popular play in DFS on Saturday in a fantastic first matchup with the Blue.

Wed Jul 3101:09Yankees Had Medical Concerns Regarding Jack Flaherty
The New York Yankees were in on right-hander Jack Flaherty before the Detroit Tigers dealt him to the Los Angeles Dodgers at the trade deadline on Tuesday for two minor-league prospects, but according to sources briefed on discussions, the Yankees backed out of a preliminary trade for Flaherty after reviewing his medical records. A lower-back injury forced Flaherty to miss a start early in July and receive two injections in a span of three weeks. Since returning, he has a 1.53 ERA in 17 2/3 innings over three starts. On the year, it's been a resurgent season for the 28-year-old, as he has a 2.95 ERA in 106 2/3 frames. Flaherty has been asymptomatic since getting treated, and his performance hasn't suffered, but the Yankees perhaps just didn't want to take the risk after recently being burned on a trade for Frankie Montas in 2022.

Tue Jul 3018:56Jack Flaherty Moving To The Dodgers
Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Jack Flaherty has been traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday. Unsurprisingly, Flaherty has been moved after having a resurgence in Detroit. He has a 2.95 ERA, 0.96 WHIP, and 133/19 K/BB ratio across 18 starts. It appears the Dodgers made a pivot to Flaherty after failing to acquire Tarik Skubal or Garrett Crochet. However, Flaherty is a significant upgrade to the injury plagued Dodgers rotation. In return, the Tigers acquired infielders Thayron Liranzo and Trey Sweeney. This is a bit of an underwhelming return for Flaherty, but it's worth noting he's only on a one-year deal. The fact he's due to be a free agent this offseason likely impacted the value on his return.

Mon Jul 2923:00Yankees In "Extensive Talks" For Jack Flaherty
The New York Yankees are in "extensive talks" for Detroit Tigers right-hander Jack Flaherty, according to a source. The Yankees would plan to trade left-hander Nestor Cortes if they acquire Flaherty, who was scratched from his scheduled start on Monday against the Cleveland Guardians so that he wouldn't get injured ahead of Tuesday's trade deadline. The expectation around the league is that the veteran 28-year-old will be moved by Detroit before Tuesday's deadline, although manager A.J. Hinch said Flaherty is scheduled to take the mound on Thursday against the Kansas City Royals. Flaherty has had a resurgent 2024 campaign in Detroit, going 7-5 with a 2.95 ERA and 0.96 WHIP with a 133:19 K:BB in 106 2/3 innings over 18 starts. He's also sporting a career-high 32.1% strikeout rate and career-low 4.6% walk rate. A move to the Yankees would boost his fantasy value even further.

Mon Jul 2914:25Jack Flaherty Scratched From Monday’s Start
Detroit Tigers pitcher Jack Flaherty will not make his scheduled start on Monday against the Cleveland Guardians. Flaherty -- who is expected to be moved before Tuesday's trade deadline -- was scratched from his normal start, as the team protects him for a trade. The right-hander has been excellent for Detroit this season with a 2.95 ERA and 133 strikeouts across 18 starts. Multiple teams are said to be in on the 28-year-old, including the Astros, Orioles, and Yankees. Whichever team Flaherty goes to should improve his fantasy value down the stretch.

Thu Jul 1821:19Jack Flaherty Starting Friday Against Toronto
Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Jack Flaherty will draw the first assignment post-All-Star break in Friday's series opener at the Rogers Centre against the Toronto Blue Jays. The 28-year-old former Cy Young Award candidate in 2019 has returned to form in the Motor City in 2024, posting a 3.13 ERA and 0.97 WHIP with a scintillating 119:14 K:BB across 95 innings (16 starts) thus far. Flaherty looks to keep the good times rolling on Friday in Toronto, and he's set up as a great fantasy bet across all formats to begin the second half. In three appearances against the Blue Jays in his career, Flaherty has a 2.08 ERA despite a shaky 21:10 K:BB over 17 1/3 frames.

Thu Jul 1120:14Jack Flaherty Posts Quality Start, Strikes Out Four
Detroit Tigers right-hander Jack Flaherty earned a win with a quality start Thursday afternoon, going six innings and surrendering one run on two hits with four strikeouts against the Cleveland Guardians. Flaherty had been out since June 27th with a lower back injury. The veteran right-hander is now 6-5 on the season with a 3.13 ERA, .98 WHIP, and 119 strikeouts in 95 innings, Speculation is rampant that the Tigers may be looking to shop Flaherty ahead of the trade deadline at the end of this month. Flaherty could be the top starting pitcher available on the trade market.

Tue Jul 219:42Jack Flaherty Receives Injection For His Back, Skipping Next Start
Detroit Tigers right-hander Jack Flaherty (back) received another injection in his back and will skip his next scheduled start on Wednesday against the division-rival Minnesota Twins. Instead, as long as he recovers well from the injection, the 28-year-old appears to be lined up to return to the rotation against the division-rival Cleveland Guardians. It's the second time in the last month that Flaherty has missed a start due to a back problem, which will give contending teams some pause if they consider trading for him at this summer's deadline. Otherwise, Flaherty has been fantastic in a bounce-back 2024 season in Detroit, going 5-5 with a 3.24 ERA and 1.00 WHIP with 115 strikeouts in 89 innings over his 15 starts. He came into Tuesday's action with the third-best strikeout rate in the big leagues.

Mon Jul 123:19Tigers Shopping Jack Flaherty As Deadline Approaches
The Detroit Tigers have gone 32-45 since winning the first five games of the season and will once again be sellers at this summer's trade deadline, shopping right-hander Jack Flaherty, who signed a one-year, $14 million deal this offseason. Flaherty has been a massive value signing for the Tigers while going 5-5 with a 3.24 ERA (3.05 FIP) and 1.00 WHIP with 115 strikeouts and 14 walks in 89 innings over his 15 starts in what has been a big bounce-back campaign. It only makes sense that they'd try to sell high on Flaherty after building his value back up in the first half of 2024. The 28-year-old did allow three home runs in a loss in his last outing against the Los Angeles Angels, but he still managed to strike out six and currently ranks third in baseball with a 33% strikeout rate. Flaherty landing with a contender for the second half would make him even more valuable in fantasy this year.

Fri Jun 2812:19Jack Flaherty Taken Deep Three Times In Loss
Detroit Tigers right-hander Jack Flaherty has had an amazing season in 2024, but it wasn't his night on Thursday on the road against the hosting Los Angeles Angels. Flaherty allowed five earned runs on seven hits (season-high three home runs) while walking one and striking out seven in 5 2/3 innings of work to even out his record at 5-5 in the loss. Fantasy managers won't be complaining about the seven strikeouts, but it just wasn't Flaherty's night as his season ERA was raised to a still very respectable 3.24. The poor outing snapped the 28-year-old's streak of allowing one run or fewer in four straight starts. Aside the allowing three home runs on Thursday, though, it wasn't a terrible performance. Fantasy managers should still consider Flaherty a must-start given the way he's pitched in 2024. He currently ranks third in baseball with a 33% strikeout rate.

Fri Jun 2121:29Jack Flaherty Racks Up Eight Strikeouts In A Win On Friday
Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Jack Flaherty was stellar on Friday night, pitching 5 2/3 innings and striking out eight in the Tigers' 2-1 win over the Chicago White Sox. Flaherty picked up the win and improved his record to 5-4 on the season. The 28-year-old also threw 98 pitches, negating any potential concerns about the back spasms that forced him to be removed in his start against the Texas Rangers earlier this month. With an xERA of 2.66, Flaherty should continue to be dominant whenever he takes the hill for the Tigers. His next start will be a tough test when the Philadelphia Phillies come into Detroit on Wednesday.

Fri May 3100:21Jack Flaherty Dominates Red Sox
Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Jack Flaherty tossed 6 masterful innings against the Boston Red Sox on Thursday, earning the win in a 5-0 victory. Flaherty allowed no runs on just one hit and one walk while striking out. The 28-year-old is in the midst of a career renaissance that has him looking like his 2019 self. While he holds a good but not great 3.46 ERA, it comes with a 1.00 WHIP and 90 strikeouts in 67 IP, putting him near the top of the leaderboards in those categories. He is still not owned in all leagues, which needs to be corrected. If he can keep pitching like he has been, the sky is the limit for Flaherty.

Fri May 2401:43Jack Flaherty Picks Up Quality Start In Loss Thursday
Detroit Tigers starting pitcherJack Flaherty(1-4) picked up a quality start and the loss Thursday night, going 6 1/3 innings, allowing three runs on seven hits with one walk and seven strikeouts in a 9-1 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays. The Tigers starter cruised through six innings before being chased after allowing a two-run home run toDaulton Varsho. That was the deciding blow, as the Tigers couldn't muster up any run-support for Flaherty. Run support has been almost nonexistent for Flaherty in his starts, which is whyhe only has one victory on the season. He currently has a 3.84 ERA on the season and ranks seventh in the league in strikeouts. There's no doubt Flaherty has found a home in Detroit and should be in your fantasy lineup every week despite the lack of wins. He will look to pick up his second win against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Wednesday.

Tue Apr 3018:32Jack Flaherty Records 14 Strikeouts In No-Decision
Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Jack Flaherty put together a brilliant performance against the St. Louis Cardinals on Tuesday. The right-hander recorded a career-high 14 strikeouts over 6 2/3 scoreless innings during Tuesday's no-decision. Flaherty struck out seven straight batters to open up the contest. Sadly for Flaherty, the Tigers bullpen coughed up the lead in the ninth inning, which cost him his first victory of the season. He'll take a 4.00 ERA, 1.03 WHIP, and 50/5 K/BB into his next start against the Cleveland Guardians. Flaherty's strong start to the season has made him an attractive early-season waiver-wire pickup.

Wed Apr 2414:30Jack Flaherty Looking For Positive Regression Wednesday
Detroit Tigers right-hander Jack Flaherty will be looking for some positive regression to kick in on Wednesday in a road tilt with the Tampa Bay Rays. The 28-year-old has posted a 4.44 ERA through his first four starts in a Tigers uniform but his underlying numbers suggest he has been much better than that. Flaherty has also worked to a 2.90 xFIP, 2.74 SIERA, and a big-time 25.2% K-BB% with a 29.1% K%, as well. He has walked just 3.9% of the batters he has faced and has generated whiffs at a career-best 15.1% clip, a figure that ranks in the league's 95th percentile. He will take on a Rays team that is tied for 23rd with a .299 wOBA and 18th with a 23.1% K% against right-handed pitching on the season.

Mon Apr 112:28Jack Flaherty Picks Up Quality Start In No-Decision
Detroit Tigers right-hander Jack Flaherty looked good in his first start with the Tigers on Sunday, allowing just one earned run on four hits (one homer) while walking none and striking out seven in six innings pitched to pick up a no-decision in Detroit's eventual 3-2 victory on the road. Korey Lee's solo home run was the only blemish on Flaherty's line. The 28-year-old went 8-9 last year with a 4.99 ERA (4.36 FIP) and 1.58 WHIP with 66 walks and 148 strikeouts in 144 1/3 innings over 29 appearances (27 starts) for the St. Louis Cardinals and Baltimore Orioles. Injuries and control problems have become an issue for Flaherty in recent seasons, but he still has the stuff to help fantasy managers in juicy matchups like the one he had on Sunday versus Chicago. He has another one coming up in his next scheduled start against the Oakland Athletics.

Fri Mar 809:13Jack Flaherty Roughed Up
Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Jack Flaherty got roughed up in his third outing of the Grapefruit League against the New York Yankees. Over 1 2/3 innings, the offseason addition allowed three hits, four runs, three walks and struck out three. The 28-year-old was once one the better starting pitchers in the league, but injuries have derailed his career over the past three seasons. The move to Comerica Park should benefit the righty, but he still has a lot to prove to earn a spot in most formats at the moment. For now, he is watch-list candidate and that's solely based on previous success in the big leagues.
