Fri Aug 3017:07Rafael Devers Returns As DH On Friday
Boston Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers (shoulders) is back in action for Friday's series opener against the Detroit Tigers and right-hander Casey Mize at Comerica Park, serving as the designated hitter and batting cleanup. Rookie Nick Sogard will get another start at third and will hit seventh for the BoSox. Devers has been dealing with issues in both of his shoulders for most of the year and took the last three days off to rest up this week. Now that he's back, fantasy managers will want to get him back in their lineups in redraft leagues against Mize, who will be making his first start in two months due to a hamstring strain. Hopefully, the time off this week can break Devers out of his current slump at the plate. The 27-year-old Dominican has gone 10-for-43 (.233) in his last 11 games, although he does have three home runs and eight RBI in that span.

Thu Aug 2918:02Rafael Devers Out Again On Thursday
Boston Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers (shoulders) remains out of the starting lineup on Thursday for the series finale at Fenway Park against the division-rival Toronto Blue Jays. Rookie Nick Sogard will make the start at the hot corner and will bat eighth against Blue Jays right-hander Bowden Francis. Devers has been battling through issues in both of his shoulders for much of the year and will now miss his third straight game as a result. However, the Red Sox expect him back for Friday's series opener in Detroit against the Tigers, so fantasy managers shouldn't have to wait much longer to get him back. Devers is one of the best hitters in the game, but he has had a down month in August, going 21-for-88 (.239) with four home runs, seven doubles, 11 RBI, 11 walks and 25 strikeouts in 22 games played. Hopefully, the time off this week will get him back on track when he returns this weekend.

Wed Aug 2816:14Rafael Devers Still Out On Wednesday
Boston Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers (shoulders) remains out of Boston's starting lineup on Wednesday at Fenway Park against the division-rival Toronto Blue Jays. It's Devers' second straight day off while he battles through soreness in both of his shoulders. The 27-year-old All-Star has battled shoulder issues all year, so the Red Sox are giving him a little break this week. For now, fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day and check back to see if he's available for Thursday's series finale against Toronto. Devers is one of the best hitters in the game when healthy and is a must-start when he's active. Romy Gonzalez will replace him again at the hot corner and bat eighth against Blue Jays right-hander Chris Bassitt on Wednesday. Gonzalez has never faced Bassitt and has little upside in DFS lineups in the eight-hole.

Tue Aug 2716:31Rafael Devers Getting A Breather
Boston Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers is getting the day off on Tuesday against the division-rival Toronto Blue Jays at Fenway Park. With Devers starting on the bench, Romy Gonzalez will play third base and hit seventh against Blue Jays rookie right-hander Yariel Rodriguez. It's a good time for Devers to receive a day off after going 8-for-35 (.229) with two homers, a double, five RBI and 10 strikeouts in his last nine games since Aug. 17. Before Tuesday, the 27-year-old had started in each of the team's previous 14 games. Devers is still one of the best hitters in the league, though, and is slashing .290/.369/.571 with a .940 OPS, 28 homers, 80 RBI and 81 runs in 452 at-bats. Hopefully, the day off will help him get back on track at the plate. Gonzalez makes plenty of contact but has provided only four homers, 22 RBI and seven RBI in 2024, making him a low-upside DFS sleeper.UPDATE: Devers is still dealing with soreness in his shoulders, and manager Alex Cora didn't rule out more than one day off. Devers has been battling shoulder issues for months.

Sun Aug 1111:50Rafael Devers Taking A Seat On Sunday
Boston Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers will take a seat on Sunday afternoon as the Red Sox wrap up a series against the Houston Astros. The superstar has not missed a game since June 9 and will get a well-deserved off day. Since July 23, the 27-year-old has been riding a stellar .385/.482/.692 slash line with 12 doubles, one home run, and a 8:13 BB:K ratio. Devers should be expected to return to the starting nine tomorrow evening as the Red Sox host the Texas Rangers. As a result, Nick Sogard will man the hot corner and bat in the seven-hole. He is best to fade in DFS this afternoon as he will face Houston right-hander Hunter Brown, who has posted a 2.28 ERA and a 1.35 WHIP in his past four starts.

Wed Jul 3121:54Rafael Devers Continues Mashing, Walks It Off Wednesday
Boston Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers recorded three hits in Wednesday afternoon's extra-inning win over the visiting Seattle Mariners at Fenway Park, also delivering a walk-off double in the triumph. Devers crushed a walk-off double in the 10th inning off Mariners left-hander Jhonathan Diaz, winning the game for the Red Sox 3-2. The 27-year-old All-Star slugger is tearing the cover off the ball since June 24, hitting .375 (42-for-112) with 10 home runs, 30 RBI, and 26 runs scored in his last 29 games for Boston. The defending-champion Texas Rangers are up next for Devers with a series starting on Friday, and in 13 games versus the Rangers since 2022, he's batting .340 (17-for-40) with a homer, 12 RBI, and 11 runs scored.

Wed Jul 2412:52Rafael Devers In The Lineup After Injury Scare
Boston Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers (shoulder) is at third base and batting cleanup for the BoSox in Wednesday's series finale at Coors Field against the Colorado Rockies and right-hander Cal Quantrill despite an injury scare in Tuesday's 6-0 victory. Devers rolled over his right shoulder while trying to make a diving stop in the bottom of the sixth inning, but he shook it off and stayed in the game. "We've been through this path before but [fortunately] he's OK," said manager Alex Cora. "He said he just jammed it. He took some vicious hacks in the last at-bat. He said he'll be ready for [Wednesday]." The fact that the All-Star left-handed hitter is back in there a day later in a matinee affair is a good sign. It's something to watch with Devers moving forward, but fantasy managers need to keep one of the best hitters in the game in their lineups. The 27-year-old Dominican heads into Wednesday's contest with 23 homers, 63 RBI and a .286/.370/.578 slash line.

Sat Jul 1323:34Rafael Devers Goes Deep On Saturday
Boston Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in the Boston victory on Saturday afternoon. This was the 27-year-old's 22nd long ball of the season. This was his third home run of the month. The third baseman is on pace to have another stellar season as he sits with an excellent .291/.374/.586 line, 59 RBI, and a 41:86 BB:K ratio through 82 games. Devers also holds a 53.4% hard-hit rate and 14.3% barrel rate, which place him in the top 95th and 91st percentile among all hitters, respectively. Devers is one of the best third basemen in baseball and is always worth considering when constructing your DFS lineup.

Wed Jul 1008:43Rafael Devers Drives In Three Runs
Boston Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers went 2-for-4 with a walk, two runs and three RBI in Tuesday's victory versus the Oakland Athletics. Devers is now up to 58 RBI on the season as he continues to be one of the best third baseman in the game. The 27-year-old dealt with some injuries earlier in the season, but he has looked healthy and is performing as good as he has had in the past. For the season, he is now hitting .296 with 21 homers, 58 RBI and a .976 OPS in 78 games. Managers should continue to hold onto one of the most underrated offensive players in the league moving forward.

Tue Jul 919:48Rafael Devers To Skip All-Star Game To Rest His Shoulder
The Boston Red Sox informed Major League Baseball on Tuesday that third baseman Rafael Devers (shoulder) isn't going to the All-Star Game next week so that he can rest his nagging left shoulder. Baltimore Orioles infielder Jordan Westburg will replace Devers on the American League All-Star roster. Devers' left shoulder hasn't bothered him too much so far in July, as he's gone 9-for-24 (.375) with three home runs, a triple, 10 RBI, five walks, a stolen base and seven runs scored in six games, including homering three times in the last two games in the Bronx over the weekend against the division-rival New York Yankees. The 27-year-old did miss a few games in April due to his shoulder and he has started every game since June 11, so Boston wants to give him some extra rest next week. The Dominican slugger entered Tuesday's contest with a strong .293/.378/.593 slash line with a .971 OPS, 21 homers and 55 RBI in 77 games. He's one of the best hitters in the game.

Mon Jul 800:19Rafael Devers Continues Torturing Yankees
Boston Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers swatted a pair of solo homers on Sunday Night Baseball, leading his team to a 3-0 win over the New York Yankees. Devers finished the day 3-for-4 with two homers, two runs scored, and two RBI. His longballs came in the seventh inning to break a scoreless tie and then in the ninth inning to add some insurance. He is now hitting .451 with seven homers, 17 runs, and 15 RBI in his last 15 games against the rival Yankees, and clearly loves hitting in Yankee Stadium. Devers is a consistent top-20 player in fantasy, leaving his managers with nothing to worry about.

Sat Jul 619:14Rafael Devers Reaches 1,000 Career Hits, Smashes Homer In Loss
Boston Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers reached 1,000 career hits on Saturday going 2-4 with a HR in Boston's 14-4 loss to the New York Yankees. The 1,000th hit came on an RBI single in the top of the third inning off of Yankees' starter Gerrit Cole. Devers' HR was a solo shot in the top of the fifth inning that initially gave the Red Sox a 4-3 lead. Devers has been a solid source of production for Boston throughout his eight year career and continues to do so in 2024 with a .943 OPS and 19 HR. Should the lefty continue down this path then he will be cemented in Boston as a fan favorite with an outside chance to make noise in Cooperstown if he plays long enough. The 27-year-old will look to continue his stellar 2024 season against suddenly struggling Yankees starter Luis Gil.

Sun Jun 3016:37Rafael Devers Slugs 18th Homer Sunday
Boston Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers hit his 18th home run in a 4-1 victory over the San Diego Padres on Sunday. Devers had two hits and two RBI in the game. The veteran is hitting .286 on the season and also has 45 RBI, a stolen base and 49 runs scored. Devers has been red hot over his last seven games, hitting .400 with four home runs, seven RBI and seven runs scored over that period. He continues to be a regular force in the middle of the Boston lineup.

Sun Jun 908:06Rafael Devers Sitting Out Sunday With Knee Injury
Boston Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers (knee) will be sitting out of Sunday's series finale against the Chicago White Sox as a precaution since he left Saturday's game early with left knee soreness. Manager Alex Cora told the media that Devers is experiencing soreness in the same knee that caused him to be sidelined for a week back in April. As of now, this injury does not seem serious at all, and Boston is choosing to be cautious with their superstar third baseman. As a result, Emmanuel Valdez is likely to man the hot corner on Sunday and could be a sneaky play in DFS as he will face right-hander Chris Flexen, who enters Sunday with a hefty 5.19 ERA.

Wed May 2900:23Rafael Devers Collects Four Hits, Logs Two RBI Tuesday Night
Boston Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers pitched in four hits, two RBI singles, and one run scored in an 8-3 victory against the Baltimore Orioles Tuesday night. Devers is one of many hot hitters who probably doesn't want to see the calendar flip to June. With only a few days left in May, the power-hitting lefty is slashing .295/.358/.611 with seven of his ten home runs and 19 RBI. Not only that, his current .380 OBP, if sustained, would be a career-high for the eight-year veteran. Devers brings a balance of power, batting average, and run-producing ability that would make any fantasy manager happy to roster him.

Tue May 2100:44Rafael Devers Brings Homer Streak To Six Games Monday
Boston Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers continued his torrid power streak in Monday's 5-0 win over the Rays. Devers went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run and a strikeout. The 27-year-old has really picked things up at the plate lately after a slow offensive start and has now homered in each of his last six games, bringing his season total to 10 to go with 23 RBI and a .284/.380/.567 slash line. The Red Sox offense has started to heat up overall, which is a doubly welcome sight for fantasy managers, as it will provide opportunities for additional counting stats for Devers.

Sun May 1920:37Rafael Devers Keeps Homer Streak Alive
Boston Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers was able to keep his hitting streak alive during Sunday's game against the St. Louis Cardinals. The superstar corner infielder went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in the win. Devers has now homered in an incredible five straight contests. He now has a nine-game hitting streak with 11 hits during that span. Fantasy managers should make sure to keep Devers in their lineup going forward.

Thu May 1601:05Rafael Devers Cranks Fifth Long Ball In Loss
Boston Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers cranked his fifth home run of the year in Wednesday's loss to the division-rival Tampa Bay Rays, but it wasn't enough to lift his team to victory. Devers lined one over the wall in center field for a 431-foot solo homer off Rays right-hander Phil Maton in the sixth inning. The 27-year-old All-Star slugger is slashing a robust .281/.383/.488 with five round-trippers and 10 doubles through 32 outings (121 at-bats) as Boston's everyday third baseman this season, but he's not getting the job done for fantasy managers in the RBI department (15) after plating 100 for the BoSox a season ago. Each of Devers' five blasts have come against right-handed pitching in 2024, and he'll get righty Zack Littell in Thursday's series finale against Tampa with a chance to deliver more counting stats.

Sat Apr 2712:12Rafael Devers Back At Third Base, Masataka Yoshida Starting
Boston Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers (knee) has returned to third base on Saturday against the visiting Chicago Cubs, which has allowed outfielder Masataka Yoshida to return to the lineup as the designated hitter against right-hander Ben Brown. Devers is hitting in the two-hole, while Tanaka is batting sixth for the BoSox. Devers missed five games with a knee injury recently but has been hot at the plate since returning, going 7-for-13 with a homer, double, two RBI and three runs scored in three games. He's a must-start anytime he's active. Tanaka, meanwhile, returns to the fold after missing the last four games, although he has appeared as a pinch-hitter. The 30-year-old left-handed hitter has essentially become a DH only for Boston and is hitting .233 (17-for-73) with two homers and 10 RBI to start the year.

Thu Apr 2512:52Rafael Devers Likely To Return To Third Base On Saturday
Boston Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers (knee) isn't comfortable playing the field just yet after his knee injury, according to manager Alex. Cora. However, the skipper said that Devers will likely return to the hot corner on Saturday against the Chicago Cubs. Devers missed some time recently with a left knee injury, but he's been the team's designated hitter the last few days. Once the 27-year-old heads back to third base, it will allow outfielder Masataka Yoshida to return to the DH spot for Boston. The left-handed hitter has sat each of the last three games against a right-hander with Devers serving as the DH. Devers has battled a few nagging injuries already in 2024 and is hitting an uncharacteristic .231 (12-for-52) in the early going with three home runs and seven RBI. It's too early to be concerned with Devers.
