Thu Sep 1900:32Josh Naylor Hits Two Home Runs On Wednesday
Cleveland Guardians first baseman Josh Naylor blasted a pair of solo home runs off of Twins starter Bailey Ober during a 2-for-4 day at the plate in Wednesday's 5-4 win over Minnesota. The left-handed hitter recorded two RBI and scored three times in the contest, bringing his season line to .245-31-105-81-6. This season marks the first time the 27-year-old has surpassed the 30-homer and 100 RBI threshold in his career. The former first-round draft pick will look to keep rolling Thursday against the Twins' Simeon Woods Richardson who he is 2-for-4 off of in his career.

Fri Sep 618:44Josh Naylor Returns To Friday's Lineup
Cleveland Guardians first baseman Josh Naylor (back) returns to the starting lineup ahead of Friday's game against the Los Angeles Dodgers. This is good news after Naylor was forced to exit early during Tuesday's game due to back spasms. As a result, Naylor sat out on Wednesday and the team had an off day on Thursday. Naylor will bat cleanup and cover first base versus right-hander Landon Knack on Friday. Naylor has been on fire at the plate with nine hits and six RBI in his last five games. Fantasy managers should make sure to get Naylor back in their lineups ahead of first pitch.

Wed Sep 418:08Josh Naylor Remains Sidelined On Wednesday
Cleveland Guardians first baseman Josh Naylor (back) remains out of the starting lineup on Wednesday evening as the Guardians look to close out a three-game sweep on the division-rival Kansas City Royals. The slugging first baseman was removed from Tuesday's game due to a back spasm and will need at least another day to rest. The Guardians will likely take caution with the 27-year-old as they have their sights on competing in October. As a result, rookie Kyle Manzardo will get the starting nod on Wednesday and bat in the six-hole. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor the Cleveland lineup, as Naylor could return as early as Friday against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Manzardo could be a sneaky play in DFS against Royals right-hander Seth Lugo, as the young infielder has tallied five hits across his past three games.

Wed Sep 412:04Josh Naylor Dealing With Back Spasm
Cleveland Guardians first baseman Josh Naylor (back) left Tuesday's contest early against the division-rival Kansas City Royals in the eighth inning due to an acute back spasm, according to the team. Before leaving, Naylor went 1-for-4 in the contest and was replaced by rookie Jhonkensy Noel. For now, fantasy managers should treat it as a day-to-day situation and shouldn't expect the power-hitting lefty to be back in the lineup for the series finale on Wednesday. The good news is Cleveland has an off day scheduled for Thursday, so perhaps Naylor will be ready to play again for Friday's series opener in LA against the Dodgers. Losing Naylor, who already has a career-highs in homers (29) and RBI (100) on the year, for any stretch of time would be bad news for the Guardians as they vie for the AL Central title. Noel will likely take over for Naylor at first if he misses any more time.

Fri Aug 3022:50Josh Naylor Suffers Bruised Ankle, Has Big Night At The Plate
Cleveland Guardians first baseman Josh Naylor (ankle) managed to have a big offensive night in Friday's 10-8 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates at Progressing Field despite leaving the contest early due to a left-ankle bruise. Naylor was replaced late in the game by Tyler Freeman after he apparently rolled his ankle. Before leaving, though, Naylor went 3-for-5 with a double, four RBI and a run scored. Naylor's two-run double in the first inning got Cleveland's scoring started. The 27-year-old appears to have avoided a serious injury, thankfully, but he could be held out as a precaution for Saturday's contest. Fantasy managers should consider him to be day-to-day for now. Naylor, a first-time All-Star in 2024, came into Friday's game with a career-high 28 home runs, and now he's at a career-high 98 RBI through 127 games after driving in four this evening.

Mon Jul 2918:14Josh Naylor Returns To Lineup
Cleveland Guardians first baseman Josh Naylor is back in the starting lineup ahead of Monday's game against the Detroit Tigers. The left-handed slugger is back in the mix after missing a few games over the weekend due to soreness. It doesn't sound like Naylor was dealing with anything serious, but the Guardians wanted to give him a few days to rest and get back to full health. He'll cover first base and bat cleanup versus right-hander Beau Brieske on Monday. Fantasy managers should adjust their lineups with Naylor returning.

Sun Jul 2813:30Josh Naylor Available Off The Bench
Cleveland Guardians first baseman Josh Naylor is reportedly available off the bench for Sunday's game against the Philadelphia Phillies. The left-handed slugger has been out of the lineup for a few games for vague reasons. It sounds like Naylor is dealing with general soreness but is hopefully going to be available on Monday. David Fry will cover first base and bat cleanup versus left-hander Kolby Allard on Sunday. Fantasy managers will hopefully only be without Naylor for one more game.

Fri Jul 2618:37Josh Naylor Sitting Out On Friday
Cleveland Guardians first baseman Josh Naylor is out of the starting lineup ahead of Friday's game against the Philadelphia Phillies. The lefty slugger has started in 10 straight games with only five hits during that time. That being said, Naylor could use a day off to rest and recover before getting back in the lineup. In the meantime, Jhonkensy Noel will start at first base and bat fifth versus left-hander Christopher Sanchez. Fantasy managers should adjust their lineups with Naylor sitting out prior to first pitch.

Thu Jul 1112:14Josh Naylor Sitting Out On Thursday
Cleveland Guardians first baseman Josh Naylor will take the day off on Thursday in the series finale against the hosting Detroit Tigers and right-hander Jack Flaherty. David Fry will draw into the lineup at first base and will bat fifth against Flaherty. This will be Naylor's first day off since June 27. He's been a must-start in all fantasy lineups this year and is batting .294 (10-for-34) with two homers, two doubles, nine RBI, a stolen base and eight runs scored so far in nine games in the month of July. The 27-year-old left-handed slugger will head to the Midsummer Classic next week in Texas for the first time in his career. Naylor has already reached a career-high 22 home runs in 87 games in 2024 and has driven in 70 runs while adding four stolen bases for the first-place Guardians. Fry got off to an amazing start early on, but he's cooled off and has gone 7-for-32 (.219) since June 26.

Wed Jul 1002:01Josh Naylor Has An All-Star-Caliber Night
Cleveland Guardians All-Star first baseman Josh Naylor exploded on offense Tuesday night, going 3-for-4 with a two-run home run, an RBI groundout, and an RBI single in a 9-8 extra-inning victory against the division-rival Detroit Tigers. Two days ago, Naylor learned that he was named to his first All-Star team, and he wasted no time showing us why Tuesday night. We are sitting here at the beginning of July, and Naylor already has two home runs more than his previous career-high of 20 homers and is only 27 RBI from his previous career-high of 97 RBI. Assuming he stays healthy, he will crush those numbers. The Guardians' turnaround on offense has been a total team effort, but Naylor has pulled his fair share of the weight. The only blemish on his season thus far is that his .247 batting average is well below the .308 batting average he produced in 2023. We doubt fantasy managers or the Guardians are complaining, though.

Mon Jul 118:42Josh Naylor Heating Up At The Plate
Cleveland Guardians first baseman Josh Naylor has been heating up with the bat over the last few days. On Sunday, Naylor went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI in the loss to the Kansas City Royals. He was slow out of the gate, but Naylor has started to swing the bat better as of late. Naylor has four hits and three RBI over his last two games. The hope is that Naylor can keep this going into the All-Star break and during the second half of the season.

Wed Jun 2616:05Josh Naylor Missing Another Game Wednesday
Cleveland Guardians first baseman Josh Naylor is sitting out again on Wednesday against the hosting Baltimore Orioles. Naylor was also out of the starting lineup on Tuesday, but this time he'll take a seat against a right-handed pitcher in favor of rookie Jhonkensy Noel, who will be making his major-league debut against Orioles right-hander Grayson Rodriguez. There has been no word on a potential injury for Naylor, but fantasy managers may want to check back for more word on why the 27-year-old left-handed slugger is sitting out against a righty. Naylor has struggled against left-handed pitching this year, but overall he's been a force with 20 home runs, 58 RBI and 43 runs scored in his 274 at-bats while batting .241 (66-for-274). He's gone 19-for-74 (.257) with five homers, three doubles and 16 RBI in 19 games in June.

Tue Jun 2516:15Josh Naylor Sitting Against A Lefty
Cleveland Guardians first baseman Josh Naylor will take a day off with a left-hander on the mound on Tuesday versus the hosting Baltimore Orioles. Gabriel Arias will take over at first base and will bat eighth for the Guardians against Orioles left-hander Cole Irvin. This will be Naylor's first day off since May 22. The former 12th overall pick by the Miami Marlins in 2015 has elite power and has already matched his previous career-high with 20 home runs while also driving in 58 runs in 73 games so far in 2024. Naylor has definitely struggled much more against lefties, hitting .207 (18-for-87) with only five of his 20 homers on the year. The right-handed hitting Arias will be a deep sleeper with limited upside in the eight-hole on Tuesday. He's gone just 28-for-130 (.215) on the year with just two homers and four stolen bases.

Mon Jun 2401:34Josh Naylor Hits 20th Homer On Sunday
Cleveland Guardians first baseman Josh Naylor continued his strong season on Sunday, going 3-for-5 with a homer, a double, two runs scored, and an RBI. Naylor became the fifth major leaguer this season to hit 20 dingers with his fourth-inning shot. The 27-year-old is enjoying a breakout season where he has found his power stroke. Although his batting average is lower than usual at .244, he has the aforementioned 20 homers to go along with 58 RBI and an .835 OPS. He is easily a top-ten first base option in fantasy and is a must-start player.

Wed May 2900:36Josh Naylor Homers Twice, Plates Five Tuesday
Cleveland Guardians first baseman Josh Naylor had a huge night at the plate in Tuesday's 13-7 win over the Rockies. Naylor took advantage of the thin air, going 2-for-4 with a two-run home run, a three-run HR, and a walk. The 26-year-old has provided the power fantasy managers were expecting but not the batting average and is now slashing .234/.321/.510 with 15 HR and 40 RBI in 221 plate appearances. It is hard to complain about the average when Naylor has provided so many counting stats and it appears that he has gotten unlucky on balls in play, as he has hit the ball hard but has a .205 BABIP. All of this points to continued fantasy production with the chance for positive regression.

Sat May 2510:10Josh Naylor Goes Deep For 13th Time This Season
Cleveland Guardians first baseman Josh Naylor went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and a walk in Friday's 10-4 win over the Angels. The home run was Naylor's 13th of the season, and with his career-high Barrel% of 11.6% he's on pace to eclipse his career-high home run mark of 20 set in 2022. The former first-round draft pick got off to a hot start this season, slashing .321/.387/.605 over his first 22 games but has gone cold the past month despite continuing to hit home runs, slashing just .183/.294/.441 over the last 26 games. Still, overall he's having a solid season, collecting 35 RBI and 27 runs scored with a .358 wOBA and 135 wRC+.

Tue May 1423:44Josh Naylor Blasts 12th Home Run, Collects Three RBI
Cleveland Guardians first basemanJosh Naylorbelted his 12th home run on Tuesday night while picking up three RBI and two walks in the Guardians' 7-4 victory over the Texas Rangers. Naylor is smoking hot right now after slugging five home runs in his last 10 games. He already has 12 home runs on the season and is currently on pace to crush his career-high 20-homer mark that he reached back in 2022. He ranks second in the league in HR and is tied for sixth with 33 RBI. The batting average this season has taken a hit at .268, but it's hard for fantasy managers to complain about that with how absurd his power numbers have been. Look for Naylor to stay hot with one more contest against the Rangers and three against the Twins to finish the week.

Fri May 1014:13Josh Naylor Up To 10 Homers
Cleveland Guardians first baseman Josh Naylor went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a strikeout in Thursday's 3-2 loss on the road to the Chicago White Sox in the first game of their series. It was Naylor's 10th home run of the season and also the third time he's cleared the fences in his last eight games. The 26-year-old left-handed slugger appears to be heating up now that we're in May with a .259 average (7-for-27). As long as Naylor stays healthy this year, he should easily surpass his career-high of 20 home runs, which was set back in 2022. The former 12th overall pick by the Miami Marlins in 2015 is now slashing a strong .277/.364/.562 with a .926 OPS, 10 long balls, 29 RBI, two stolen bases and 20 runs scored in 130 at-bats for Cleveland. He's a must-start in all fantasy formats.

Sat May 414:58Josh Naylor Getting A Breather Versus Lefty Saturday
Cleveland Guardians first baseman Josh Naylor is getting a day off on Saturday against the Los Angeles Angels and left-hander Reid Detmers. The 26-year-old has enjoyed a big start to his season and has actually fared quite well against left-handed pitching. Naylor has hit .263 with seven homers, two steals, and an .857 OPS across 132 trips to the plate on the season and has hit .300 with two homers and a 1.016 OPS across 34 plate appearances versus same-handed pitching on the season. He has also struck out in just 12.9% of his plate appearances while drawing walks at a nice 9.8% clip on the campaign.

Wed Apr 1000:05Josh Naylor Continues Hot Offensive Start Tuesday
Cleveland Guardians first baseman Josh Naylor continued to produce at the plate in Tuesday's 7-5 loss to the White Sox. Naylor went 1-for-2 with a two-run home run and two walks. The 26-year-old is now slashing .314/.395/.543with two HR, six runs scored, and seven RBI in 43 plate appearances. He may not be the most exciting first-base name for fantasy, but Naylor is on track to provide consistent production once again in 2024.
