Sat Sep 1414:07Yordan Alvarez Hits 33rd Homer Of Season On Friday
Houston Astros designated hitter Yordan Alvarez blasted a solo shot in the ninth inning of the Astros' 5-3 win over the Los Angeles Angels on Friday night. The solo shot, his 33rd HR of the season, was Alvarez's only hit of the day though he did record a second RBI on a sacrifice fly in the second inning. The lefty has been on fire in the second half of the season, hitting for a 1.054 OPS and knocking 14 of his 33 HR in the second half. Fantasy managers should continue to keep Alvarez in their starting lineups at all costs. With the Astros holding a 4.5 game lead in the AL West they'll need Alvarez to continue his MVP caliber production until the division is locked up. Alvarez should continue dominating lefties on the road tonight as the Astros face off against Angels lefty Tyler Anderson, who Alvarez is 6-14 against in his career with two doubles and two HR. DFS managers specifically should target Alvarez tonight given his familiarity with Anderson combined his 205 wRC+ split against lefties on the road in 2024.

Sat Sep 708:52Yordan Alvarez Homers Twice, Drives In Six
Houston Astros outfielder Yordan Alvarez blasted a pair of three-run home runs in a 2-for-4 effort during Friday's 8-0 win over the Diamondbacks, giving him six RBI on the day. The 27-year-old is up to 32 home runs on the season and has driven in 79, along with 89 runs scored, and six stolen bases. It was the 3x All-Star's third multi-homer game in his last nine games and he's coming off a month in which he recorded a .382/.481/.697 slashline. Alvarez is hitting .310 now on the season with a .406 wOBA and 170 wRC+, making him one of the top options for fantasy again in 2024.

Mon Sep 200:32Yordan Alvarez Hits Two More Homers
Houston Astros designated hitter/outfielder Yordan Alvarez continued to mash on Sunday, going 2-for-4 with a pair of solo homers in a 7-2 win over the Kansas City Royals. Alvarez is coming off a three-homer game on Wednesday and came into this one with a slash line of .382/.481/.697 in August. It's safe to say he's been on a heater at the dish. Although he has an oddly low amount of runs and RBI, he has provided what was expected of him in the AVG and home run departments. He should once again be one of the best four-category contributors in fantasy next year and might come with a nice discount given his lack of counting stats this year.

Wed Aug 2821:37Yordan Alvarez Has A Monster Day Wednesday
Houston Astros designated hitter Yordan Alvarez had a monster day at the dish in Wednesday afternoon's victory over the hosting Philadelphia Phillies at Citizens Banks Park, collecting four hits and three homers in the win. Alvarez tormented the Phillies on Wednesday, first hitting an opposite field two-run home run in the fourth inning to cap off a five-run inning for the Astros. He then slugged his second home run of the game to extend the Astros' lead to 7-0 in the seventh frame. Finally, Alvarez dropped the hammer with his third homer of the game to center field, pushing the Astros' lead to 10-0 in the eighth. The 27-year-old slugging superstar is enjoying a prolific month of August, slashing .385/.489/.744 with eight long balls, four doubles, 15 runs scored, and 16 RBI through 78 at-bats.

Mon Aug 2617:18Yordan Alvarez Back In Action On Monday
Houston Astros outfielder/designated hitter Yordan Alvarez (neck) is back in left field and is hitting second on Monday for the series opener against the Philadelphia Phillies and right-hander Zack Wheeler at Citizens Bank Park in a matchup of last year's World Series. Alvarez returns to the lineup after missing the last three games with neck discomfort. The 27-year-old's injury was never considered serious, as evidenced by the fact that he's back playing the outfield to begin the new week. Alvarez is a must-start in all fantasy lineups and is currently riding an 18-game on-base streak in which he has gone .364/.475/.652 with five home runs. The matchup against Wheeler isn't great, but Alvarez does have two hits in his only two career at-bats against him. The left-handed Cuban slugger is hitting over .300 for the year with 25 home runs and 67 RBI in 451 at-bats.

Mon Aug 2613:02Yordan Alvarez Nearing A Return
Houston Astros outfielder/designated hitter Yordan Alvarez (neck) was out of the starting lineup for the third straight game on Sunday, but there's a strong chance he'll play in Monday's series opener against the Philadelphia Phillies at Citizens Bank Park, according to manager Joe Espada. Alvarez is hitting .306 with 25 home runs and 67 RBI this year and is riding an 18-game on-base streak, during which he's batting .364 with five home runs. He's also hitting .352 with 17 home runs and a 1.123 OPS on the road this season. Fantasy managers will want to check to see if the 27-year-old is back in Monday's lineup. If he is, even in a tough matchup against right-hander Zack Wheeler, Alvarez needs to be returned to all starting fantasy lineups. Alvarez has two hits in two career at-bats against Wheeler.

Sat Aug 2415:22Yordan Alvarez Sitting Again On Saturday
Houston Astros outfielder Yordan Alvarez (neck) is being kept out of the lineup for the second straight day due to neck discomfort. As a result, Mauricio Dubon will cover left field and bat in the nine-hole this afternoon. Before the injury, Alvarez was carrying an incredible .364/.475/.652 line with five long balls, 12 RBI, and a 12:10 BB:K ratio since the start of the month. Fantasy managers should continue to pay close attention to the Houston starting nine prior to the series finale on Sunday evening. Dubon is riding a .233 AVG across his past nine games and should not be considered in DFS competitions this afternoon as he will face Baltimore right-hander Albert Suarez, who has tossed 17 2/3 straight scoreless frames with a strong 0.91 WHIP.

Fri Aug 2318:21Yordan Alvarez Pulled From Friday's Lineup
Houston Astros designated hitter Yordan Alvarez (neck) has been scratched from the starting lineup ahead of Friday's game against the Baltimore Orioles. Alvarez is dealing with neck discomfort, so it sounds like a day-to-day type of issue. Fantasy managers should make sure to check their lineups and get Alvarez out on Friday. Alex Bregman will serve as the DH and bat second, while Chas McCormick covers left field and bats ninth versus lefty Cade Povich. Bregman is a must-start in all formats while McCormick can be avoided. McCormick is batting .193 with four home runs and 22 RBI this season. There should be better streaming options available on Friday.

Sun Aug 1812:35Yordan Alvarez Taking A Seat Against White Sox
Houston Astros outfielder/designated hitter Yordan Alvarez will retreat to the bench on Sunday against the Chicago White Sox at Minute Maid Park. Alvarez is getting a much-needed day of rest after starting each of the team's last 29 games. With the All-Star left-handed slugger sitting out, Pedro Leon draws into the starting lineup in right field and will hit ninth against White Sox left-hander Ky Bush. The 27-year-old Alvarez has made the All-Star squad each of the last three years and is having another phenomenal season in 2024, slashing .306/.395/.552 with a .947 OPS, 25 home runs, 66 RBI, a career-high five stolen bases and 70 runs scored in 117 games played. He's been even better in August, going 19-for-50 (.380) with five home runs, three doubles and 11 RBI in 14 games. Alvarez is an elite hitter, folks.

Houston Astros slugger Yordan Alvarez went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's 4-2 win over the Texas Rangers. The 27-year-old is slashing .300/.384/.530 with 21 home runs and 57 RBI over 464 plate appearances. Alvarez has been especially hot lately, with an OPS of .984 and a 7:7 BB: K in his last 15 games. The three-time All-Star remains one of the best hitters in the game, both in fantasy and in real life.

Sun Jul 2119:46Yordan Alvarez Hits For The Cycle
Houston Astros designated hitter Yordan Alvarez created history at the plate during Sunday's game against the Seattle Mariners. The 27-year-old singled in the first inning to start off his incredible day at the plate. Later, Alvarez blasted a 429-foot solo shot off Bryan Woo in the fourth inning. Alvarez smacked an RBI triple in the sixth inning to pull his team within one run. After that, Alvarez slapped a double in right field to finish off his cycle. He becomes the second member of the Astros in the past 10 years to hit for the cycle, joining fellow teammate Jose Altuve.

Fri Jul 1921:52Jose Altuve, Yordan Alvarez Both In Lineup Friday Night
Houston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve (hand) and designated hitter Yordan Alvarez (hip) are both in the lineup on Friday night in their start of the second half of the season against the Seattle Mariners. Both had been nursing injuries over the All-Star break; Altuve with his hand and Alvarez his hip. It's a good sign for the Astros, who are looking to take the American League West lead from the Mariners, as they're only one game back of the lead. Altuve and Alvarez should both be in your fantasy lineups, and they should continue to be there going forward. DFS managers should target Alvarez on Friday night, as he is 7-for-15 with three home runs in his career against Mariners starter Luis Castillo.

Fri Jul 1217:07Yordan Alvarez Back In Astros Lineup
Houston Astros outfielder/designated hitter Yordan Alvarez (hip) is serving as the DH and is batting third for the Astros on Friday against the visiting division-rival Texas Rangers and left-hander Andrew Heaney. Knee and hip injuries have caused Alvarez to miss several games of late, but he's back for a big weekend series against Texas and needs to be returned to all starting fantasy lineups as one of the best all-around hitters in baseball. The 27-year-old left-handed slugger has hit .444 in his career with a 1.250 OPS, a home run and two RBI in 18 career at-bats against Heaney. Alvarez has gone just 2-for-13 with three walks and five strikeouts in his last five games, but overall, he's still hitting a strong .297/.382/.539 with a .921 OPS, 19 homers, 51 RBI and five stolen bases. The Cuban slugger is a must-start.

Thu Jul 1117:13Yordan Alvarez Not Playing On Thursday
Houston Astros outfielder/designated hitter Yordan Alvarez (hip) is not in the team's starting lineup on Thursday versus the visiting Miami Marlins. It shouldn't come as a huge surprise after Alvarez was forced from Wednesday's game with right-hip tightness. Fantasy managers should consider the 27-year-old All-Star slugger to be day-to-day, but don't be surprised if he's held out multiple games as a precaution with the All-Star break coming next week. Alvarez is a must-start whenever he's in the lineup with an elite .297/.382/.539 slash line, .921 OPS, 19 home runs, 51 RBI, five stolen bases and 56 runs scored in 88 games in his sixth season in the big leagues. Rookie Joey Loperfido is in left field and is batting sixth on Thursday, with catcher Yainer Diaz serving as the DH and batting third against Marlins right-hander Roddery Munoz. Cesar Salazar is catching and hitting ninth.

Wed Jul 1021:32Yordan Alvarez Dealing With Hip Tightness
Houston Astros designated hitter Yordan Alvarez (hip) left Wednesday's game against the visiting Miami Marlins with right hip tightness, and he was replaced in the lineup by Trey Cabbage. It's worth noting manager Joe Espada and a trainer came out of the dugout to look at Alvarez at first base earlier in the contest after the outfielder was hit in the right knee with a pitch on Saturday and didn't play on Sunday, but this latest injury sounds to be a separate issue. Fantasy managers should consider the 27-year-old All-Star slugger day-to-day until more information comes to light ahead of Thursday's matchup against the Marlins, but it wouldn't be shocking to see him get a day or two off to heal up. After tallying his 51st RBI and fifth stolen base of the season on Wednesday, Alvarez is now slashing .297/.382/.539 with 19 home runs, 21 doubles, and 56 runs scored across 330 at-bats. Joey Loperfido is worth a speculative add in deep leagues.

Tue Jul 917:18Yordan Alvarez Returns To Action On Tuesday
Houston Astros outfielder/designated hitter Yordan Alvarez (knee) is serving as the DH and is batting third for the Astros on Tuesday versus the visiting Miami Marlins and left-hander Trevor Rogers. Fantasy managers will be thrilled to find that Alvarez is back in the starting lineup for the Astros after he left Saturday's game early against the Minnesota Twins after being hit in the right knee by a pitch. The 27-year-old All-Star didn't play on Sunday but apparently recovered nicely after a scheduled off day on Monday. Get Alvarez back into all starting fantasy lineups on Tuesday against Rogers. Alvarez is one of the best hitters in all of baseball and is batting an absurd .355 (39-for-110) against left-handed pitching this year, although with only five of his 19 home runs on the season. The Cuban slugger has never faced Rogers in his career.

Sun Jul 712:14Yordan Alvarez Held Out On Sunday
Houston Astros outfielder/designated hitter Yordan Alvarez (knee) is not in the team's starting lineup for Sunday's series finale against the hosting Minnesota Twins. Alvarez was removed from Saturday's contest in Minnesota after being hit by a pitch in his right knee. The 27-year-old left-handed slugger didn't go for imaging, though, and was diagnosed with a right-knee contusion. It's not a serious injury, so he's likely just being held out on Sunday as a precaution. Fantasy managers should consider Alvarez to be day-to-day for now. With an off day coming on Monday, hopefully he'll be available to return to the starting lineup for Tuesday's series opener against the visiting Miami Marlins. Alvarez is a must-start in all fantasy leagues whenever he's active. Mauricio Dubon is in left field and batting sixth on Sunday, with catcher Yainer Diaz serving as the DH and batting cleanup against Twins rookie right-hander Simeon Woods Richardson.

Sat Jul 618:10Yordan Alvarez Considered As Day-To-Day
Houston Astros designated hitter Yordan Alvarez (knee) appears to have avoided serious injury after exiting early during Saturday's game against the Minnesota Twins. The left-handed slugger was pulled from the game after being hit by a pitch in the knee. The Astros aren't going to have any imaging done. Alvarez is being considered as day-to-day with a right knee contusion. Fantasy managers might be without Alvarez for a few games, but it doesn't sound like he'll miss significant time.
