Mon Sep 1602:38Riley Greene Keeps On Mashing
Detroit Tigers outfielder Riley Greene continued his breakout campaign on Sunday, bashing his 22nd and 23rd homers to lead the Tigers to a 4-2 win over the Baltimore Orioles. Greene finished the day 2-for-4 with the two homers, two runs scored, and three RBI. While the 23-year-old has been slightly inconsistent month-to-month, his overall stat line is very good. He has a .265/.354/.494 slash line with 23 homers, 76 runs scored, and 69 RBI in 464 at-bats. He is looking like a four-category contributor heading into next season and should be taken as a solid second outfielder in fantasy.

Mon Aug 2619:30Riley Greene Getting A Breather
Detroit Tigers outfielder Riley Greene will head to the bench for Monday's contest against the division-rival Chicago White Sox and right-hander Davis Martin at Guaranteed Rate Field. It appears to be just a normal day of rest for Greene, who has gone 6-for-25 (.240) with a homer, two doubles, four RBI and eight runs scored in six games played since returning from the injured list on Aug. 18. The 23-year-old left-handed-hitting outfielder was a first-time All-Star this year and is currently slashing .263/.355/.482 with an .837 OPS, 18 home runs, 55 RBI and 65 runs scored in 107 games played in his third year in the Show. Greene has been useful for outfield depth in most mixed leagues as a lineup regular for Detroit. Zach McKinstry is starting in left field on Monday and will hit seventh against Martin in the series finale. McKinstry is a low-upside, deep DFS sleeper.

Thu Aug 2212:36Riley Greene Sitting Against Lefty
Detroit Tigers outfielders Riley Greene and Parker Meadows and rookie shortstop Trey Sweeney are all out of the starting lineup on Thursday at Wrigley Field against the Chicago Cubs with a left-hander on the mound. Andy Ibanez is starting in left field and batting second, Matt Vierling is in center field and hitting leadoff, and Javier Baez is starting at shortstop and batting in the nine-hole against Cubs left-hander Justin Steele. Greene snapped out of little slump since returning from the injured list by going deep and driving in three runs on Wednesday night. The 23-year-old was a first-time All-Star in 2024 but has hit only .208 (20-for-96) with four of his 18 home runs on the year against southpaws. Vierling is hitting .265 (26-for-98) against lefties this year with two of his 14 homers, while Ibanez has hit .351 (33-for-94) with all four of his homers against lefties.

Thu Aug 2200:45Riley Greene Goes Yard Wednesday
Detroit Tigers outfielder Riley Greene homered with three RBI in Wednesday night's win over the hosting Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field. Before hitting an RBI single for an insurance run in the ninth inning, Greene took Cubs right-hander Jameson Taillon yard for a two-run home run to right-center field to give the Tigers a 4-0 lead in the second inning. The 23-year-old former No. 5 overall pick is beginning to establish himself as a fantasy stalwart in 2024, slashing .261/.353/.483 with 18 dingers, 54 RBI, 59 runs scored, and four stolen bases across 440 plate appearances.

Sun Aug 1816:19Riley Greene Reinstated From 10-Day IL
The Detroit Tigers activated outfielder Riley Greene (hamstring) from the 10-day injured list and announced he will serve as the 27th man for tonight's game against the New York Yankees. Greene is working back from a right hamstring strain and will hit in the No. 2 spot in the Tigers' lineup on Sunday. The 23-year-old is hitting .264/.357/.485 this season with 17 homers and 51 RBI in 101 games this season. Greene is a solid producer in fantasy leagues and should be activated on most fantasy rosters upon this news.

Tue Aug 1319:32Riley Greene's Rehab Assignment Pushed Back To Thursday
Detroit Tigers outfielder Riley Greene (hamstring), who is currently recovering from a right-hamstring strain, completed another base-running session at Comerica Park on Tuesday and is scheduled to start a minor-league rehab assignment with the Triple-A Toledo Mud Hens on Thursday. Greene was initially slated to start his rehab assignment on Tuesday, but apparently the Tigers wanted to get another look at him running the bases before giving him the final green light to play in games again. The 23-year-old first-time All-Star could rejoin the Tigers' starting lineup later this weekend or early next week, barring any setbacks with his hammy. The former fifth overall pick in 2019 has already played in a career-high 101 games in 2024 and has provided fantasy managers with 17 homers, 51 RBI and four steals in 427 trips to the plate while hitting .264 (98-for-371).

Sun Aug 1116:19Riley Greene To Start Rehab Assignment Tuesday
Detroit Tigers outfielder Riley Greene (hamstring), who has been sidelined with a right-hamstring strain, is set to run the bases on Sunday in San Francisco. This marks the last step before he can start a minor-league rehab stint with Triple-A Toledo. It appears the 23-year-old is on track to be the designated hitter for the Mud Hens on Tuesday. Greene, who has been out of the Tigers' lineup since July 25, was having quite a productive season. In 101 games (371 at-bats), he has a slash line of .264/.357/.485 and hit 17 home runs with 15 RBI.

Fri Aug 921:14Riley Greene To Run Bases On Sunday
Detroit Tigers outfielder Riley Greene (hamstring) is set to run the bases on Sunday as part of his recovery from a right-hamstring strain. This will mark the first time Greene has ran the bases since he was placed on the 10-day IL on July 26th. In conjunction with running, Greene has also been completing on-field defensive drills and is hitting daily. This marks a good sign for the 23-year-old's recovery, though no official timeline has been set for his return. Detroit has greatly missed Greene's bat, hitting for just a 71 wRC+ as a team after his last game on July 25th. Parker Meadows and Ryan Vilade have been picking up extra playing time in the outfield with Greene out, though neither is a viable fantasy option. Fantasy managers should keep an eye on Greene's status and prepare for him to return for the fantasy playoffs.

Thu Aug 121:04Riley Greene Set To Take Live Batting Practice
Detroit Tigers outfielder Riley Greene (hamstring) has resumed some baseball activity, but he has not yet started fully running again. While Green is scheduled to face Casey Mize in a live batting session at Comerica Park during this weekend's series with the division-rival Kansas City Royals, a more important point of progression from a right hamstring strain will come when he resumes running at full strength. The 23-year-old left fielder remains without a clear timetable for a return to the Tigers until that happens, but he remains a must-stash fantasy player after slashing .264/.357/.485 with 17 home runs, 21 doubles, 51 RBI, and 57 runs scored over 427 plate appearances before going on the injured list. In the meantime, Bligh Madris and Ryan Vilade should see more playing time in the Motor City.

Fri Jul 2615:30Tigers Place Riley Greene On 10-Day Injured List
The Detroit Tigers announced on Friday that they placed outfielder Riley Greene (hamstring) on the 10-day injured list with a right-hamstring strain and recalled infielder/outfielder Ryan Vilade from Triple-A Toledo in a corresponding move. Greene's hamstring injury isn't considered all that serious, so it sounds like the 23-year-old could be back with the Tigers after the minimum of 10 days out. With Greene on the shelf, Mark Canha is starting in left field for Detroit and is batting fifth against the visiting division-rival Minnesota Twins and right-hander Pablo Lopez. Canha, Vilade and Bligh Madris are all candidate for playing time in Detroit's outfield while Greene is out. Greene was a first-time All-Star this year and is currently slashing .264/.357/.485 with a career-high .842 OPS, 17 homers, 51 RBI and four steals in a career-high 101 games played.

Tue Jul 2316:07Riley Greene Getting A Day Off On Tuesday
Detroit Tigers outfielder Riley Greene is out of the team's starting lineup on Tuesday for the contest against the hosting Cleveland Guardians. Matt Vierling is starting in center field and is batting leadoff for Detroit, with Justyn-Henry Mallow in left field and batting third and Wenceel Perez in right field and hitting fifth against Guardians right-hander Xzavion Curry. Greene was a first-time All-Star this year and has already posted a career-high 17 home runs while driving in 51, stealing four bases and scoring 57 runs in 99 games played. It's a little odd to see him sitting against a right-handed pitcher, but perhaps it's because he's gone just 2-for-11 (.182) with an RBI in three games since last week's All-Star break. Vierling is 0-for-1 in his only career at-bat against Curry, while both Malloy and Perez have never faced him.

Sat Jul 2013:07Riley Greene Not In Saturday’s Lineup
Detroit Tigers outfielder Riley Greene is not in Saturday's lineup as the Tigers continue a three-game set against the Toronto Blue Jays. The Blue Jays will send left-handed pitcher Yusei Kikuchi to the mound. Greene usually does still start against southpaws more often than not but will be given the day off on Saturday. As a result, 25-year-old Ryan Vilade will slot in at left field and bat in the eight-hole. Greene is currently riding a seven-game hitting streak and holds a strong .271/.363/.500 line with 17 long balls and 51 RBI through 97 games this season. He should be expected to rejoin the starting nine on Sunday. Vilade has posted a .304 AVG through his first eight games of the 2024 campaign and could be a sneaky play in DFS this afternoon, as Kikuchi has held a 7.53 ERA and 1.50 WHIP across his past six starts.

Wed Jul 323:59Riley Greene Falls Double Short of Cycle Wednesday
Detroit Tigers outfielder Riley Greene had a terrific Wednesday night, falling just a double short of the cycle and going 3-for-4 with a two-run homer in a 9-2 victory against the Minnesota Twins. At the halfway point, Greene already has a career-high 16 home runs and 43 RBI to go along with his modest .260 batting average. If the young lefty surpasses the 30-home run mark, he will easily be a bargain at the 146 ADP he was drafted at to start the season. Should he continue to excel in the cleanup spot the rest of the season, he could be a top-50 fantasy player going into 2025.

Sat Jun 1523:46Riley Greene Homers Twice, Drives In Career-High Six Runs On Saturday
Detroit Tigers outfielder Riley Greene went 4-for-5 with two home runs, six RBI, and one walk in Saturday's 13-5 win over the Houston Astros. He blasted a solo shot in the first inning off Spencer Arrighetti to give the Tigers a 2-0 lead. The 23-year-old later crushed a three-run blast off Arrighetti again in the second inning to put Detroit up 7-0. He drove in a career-high six RBI in Saturday's victory. Greene has been on fire in June, hitting .321 (17-for-53) with four home runs and 14 RBI over 13 games. Overall, Greene is slashing .256/.348/.488 with 14 home runs, 36 RBI, 48 runs, and three stolen bases over 69 games in 2024. Fantasy managers should continue to roll with Greene in all league formats while he's wielding a hot bat.

Fri May 3108:44Riley Greene Goes Yard For 10th Homer
Detroit Tigers outfielder Riley Greene went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in Thursday's victory versus the Boston Red Sox. The homer gives Greene 10 on the season to accompany 22 RBI and a .234 batting average. The talented outfielder was a popular name amongst the fantasy community entering the season, but has been more inconsistent than managers would prefer. The power is nice, but after hitting .280 with six homers and 14 RBI in April, Greene has hit a weak .208 with three homers and seven RBI in May. Overall, Greene should continue to provide power numbers and his month of April is more accurate of what his numbers should be moving forward.

Tue Apr 3023:44Riley Greene Hits Two Long Balls In Doubleheader
Detroit Tigers outfielder Riley Greene hit two home runs across a doubleheader on Tuesday against the St. Louis Cardinals. Greene provided the Tigers' only offense in the first game by hitting a solo shot in the fourth frame. Then, in the second game, Greene went 3-5 with two RBI. The 23-year-old wasted no time by knocking an RBI double in the opening frame, which scored Andy Ibanez. Then, in the seventh inning, Greene would launch his second solo home run of the day. The former fifth-overall pick is riding a .250/.383/.519 stat line with seven home runs. Greene could see his home run count continue to climb throughout the summer thanks to his superb 17.9% barrel rate. He remains a must-start outfielder in all formats.

Fri Apr 1919:12Riley Greene Absent On Friday
Detroit Tigers outfielder Riley Greene (rest) is out of the starting lineup ahead of Friday's game against the Minnesota Twins. This appears to be a rare rest day for the 23-year-old outfielder. Greene has started the first 19 games of the season, so he has earned a day off on Friday. Wenceel Perez will bat second and cover right field versus right-hander Joe Ryan on Friday. Fantasy managers and DFS players should be able to find a better option than Perez for Friday's slate.

Fri Apr 1215:35Riley Greene Moves Into Leadoff Spot Friday
Detroit Tigers outfielder Riley Greene will hit out of the leadoff spot for the first time this season when the club hosts the first of three games versus the rival Minnesota Twins on Friday. It's been an interesting season so far for the 23-year-old. While he's hitting just .205, Greene has also slugged three homers to go along with a double while walking in 17% of his 47 trips to the plate. The former first-round pick hit .288 with 11 homers and seven stolen bases in 99 games last season as it was a great step forward before a stress fracture in his leg followed by Tommy John surgery cut his season short. Greene firmly remains on the dynasty radar as a difference maker for fantasy managers.

Thu Apr 418:23Riley Greene Goes Yard In First Game Of Doubleheader
Detroit Tigers outfielder Riley Greene went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, a walk and two runs scored during Game 1 of Thursday's doubleheader with the New York Mets. The 394-foot blast was Greene's second homer of the season. The 23-year-old has dealt with health issues over the last two campaigns but his power/speed blend gives him intriguing upside for fantasy managers. Greene has not had an electrifying start to his year, carrying a .143 average through 21 at-bats. Nevertheless, he remains a solid No. 4 outfielder with the potential to climb higher as the Tigers offense continues to seek consistency.

Tue Feb 2713:11Riley Greene Playing Outfield On Tuesday
Detroit Tigers outfielder Riley Greene (elbow) is starting in right field and is batting leadoff for Tuesday's Grapefruit League contest against the Toronto Blue Jays. Greene made his spring training debut on Monday as the designated hitter but will now return to the outfield for the first time in game action since having Tommy John surgery on his right (non-throwing) elbow last September. The 23-year-old left-handed hitter looked even better in his second major-league season in 2023 before suffering his season-ending elbow injury. Greene slashed .288/.349/.447 with 11 home runs, 19 doubles, four triples, 37 RBI, seven stolen bases and 51 runs scored in 99 games played. If he can cut down on his strikeouts and make some more contact, he'll have even more upside for fantasy managers as a No. 3 outfielder.
