The Pittsburgh Pirates are calling up infield prospect Nick Yorke from Triple-A Indianapolis to the big leagues on Monday, according to sources. Yorke is with the team in St. Louis for their series against the Cardinals at Busch Stadium to begin the week. The 22-year-old was acquired by the Bucs from the Boston Red Sox at the end of July in the trade that sent pitcher Quinn Priester to Boston. Per MLB Pipeline, he's considered Pittsburgh's No. 6 prospect. The former first-rounder has hit a combined .303/.385/.449 with an .834 OPS, 12 homers, 72 RBI and 21 stolen bases in 123 games with Double-A Portland, Triple-A Worcester and Indianapolis this year to earn his first big-league call-up. With experience at second base, third, shortstop and the outfield, Yorke should play regularly down the stretch in Pittsburgh.

Yorke has the potential to hit for average and also go for 20-plus homers a year and now has a better path to playing time at the big-league level now that he's in Pittsburgh. He can continue to be ignored in redraft leagues, but there's potential for him to make his MLB debut early in 2025.

Yorke's July is shaping up to be much like his June at Triple-A, now 9-for-28 (.321) this month after hitting .342 (27-for-79) in June. The 22-year-old had four home runs in 45 games at Double-A but now has six in just 27 games at Triple-A. It has been an impressive showing for the former first-round draft pick and he continues to make a push for a debut at the major league level. Look for him to get that chance at some point in the second half if he continues to hit.

The 22-year-old could be pushing for a promotion if he continues this stretch of production.

Yorke was promoted to Triple-A Worcester on June 6 and has performed exceptionally well with a .348/.437/.551 line with four long balls and 15 RBI through 22 games. The 22-year-old has a strong chance of making his major league debut in the second half of the summer and could be worth stashing in deeper redraft leagues if he continues this strong play at the top level of the minors.

Perhaps Yorke will give the offense a boost, as the former first-round draft pick offers both power and speed, hitting 13 home runs last season at Double-A and stealing 18 bases over 110 games.

The former first-round draft pick had been on a bit of a roll before the promotion, producing five multi-hit games in his last 10 games. Vaughn Grissom was supposed to be the Sox everyday second baseman, but has hit the IL for a second time already this season with a hamstring injury, leaving Emmanuel Valdez and Jamie Westbrook to man the keystone. Valdez is hitting .188 for the season and the 28-year-old Westbrook has six MLB plate appearances to his name, all coming within the last week. Per MLB.com's Top Prospects List, Yorke has an ETA of 2024 to reach the majors, and it looks like there isn't much stopping him from making that a reality.

The former first-round draft pick could see Fenway by the end of 2024, but offseason acquisition Vaughn Grissom is going to get a shot at being the everyday second baseman starting this week when he comes off the IL. Nevertheless, with the tools that Yorke has, he should be on dynasty managers' radar.
