Tue Jan 31 2023 | 16:29 | White Sox Claim A.J. Alexy Off Waivers From Twins |
The Chicago White Sox claimed reliever A.J. Alexy off waivers from the Minnesota Twins on Monday. Alexy had recently been designated assignment by the Twins in order to make room for recently acquired outfielder Michael Taylor. The 24-year-old right-hander allowed nine earned runs on 10 hits while walking nine and striking out six in just seven relief innings over four appearances for the Texas Rangers last year in just his second MLB season. There's no guarantee that he'll make the White Sox's Opening Day roster out of spring training, but he'll offer them relief depth to open the year. In his two MLB campaigns with Texas, Alexy has a 6.30 ERA (6.49 FIP), 1.63 WHIP, 26 walks and 23 strikeouts in nine appearances (four starts). |

The Minnesota Twins have acquired right-hander A.J. Alexy from the Washington Nationals, per a tweet from the American League Central club's official Twitter account on Tuesday. The former Ranger owns a career 6.30 ERA and 6.35 FIP in the majors. He'll give the Twins some additional rotation and bullpen depth heading into the 2023 season. |

Wed Jan 4 2023 | 14:42 | Nationals Designate A.J. Alexy For Assignment |
The Washington Nationals designated right-hander A.J. Alexy for assignment on Monday. The move was made to clear 40-man roster space for new signing Dominic Smith. Alexy previously made his Major League debut this past season while with the Texas Rangers. He allowed 10 hits, nine earned runs, and nine walks in seven innings while striking out six batters. The right-hander also made 31 appearances for Texas' Triple-A affiliate, 16 of which were starts. In those 31 appearances, he logged 96 innings and pitched to a 5.91 ERA, a 6.88 FIP, 103 strikeouts, and 56 walks. |

Fri Dec 9 2022 | 17:26 | A.J. Alexy Designated For Assignment |
The Texas Rangers designated right-hander A.J. Alexy for assignment on Friday to make room on the 40-man roster for the recently signed Andrew Heaney. Alexy made only four appearances for the Rangers last season, allowing nine earned runs on 10 hits while walking nine and striking out six in seven relief innings. He's made only nine major-league appearances (four starts) in the last two years, allowing 21 runs in 30 innings pitched. The 24-year-old wasn't much better at Triple-A Round Rock in 2022, posting a 5.91 ERA, a 1.71 WHIP, 103 strikeouts and 56 walks in 96 innings over 31 outings (16 starts). |

Wed Sep 29 2021 | 00:17 | A.J. Alexy Limits The Damage On Tuesday |
Texas Rangers starting pitcher A.J. Alexy was rocked during each of his last two starts, but looked much better versus the Los Angeles Angels. On Tuesday, he went five innings, three hits allowed, two earned runs, two walks, and two strikeouts in the 5-2 win. He was solid through five frames and his only mistake was a two-run home run to Max Stassi. He'll finish the season with a 4.70 ERA and 17/17 K/BB ratio over 23 innings. Alexy will likely have to earn a spot on the roster in spring training next season. |

Tue Sep 21 2021 | 11:14 | A.J. Alexy Walks Six Versus Yankees |
Texas Rangers starting pitcher A.J. Alexy struggled to find the strike zone during Monday's game against the New York Yankees. He went 3 1/3 innings, four hits allowed, four earned runs, six walks, and one strikeouts in the 4-3 loss. It's surprising that he only gave up four runs considering he walked that many batters. Alexy was solid during his first two big league starts, but has control issues. He'll be an avoidable fantasy option for the rest of the season. |

Tue Sep 7 2021 | 10:27 | A.J. Alexy Looks Outstanding Versus Angels |
Texas Rangers starting pitcher A.J. Alexy made his second career start versus the Los Angeles Angels on Monday. He went six innings, one hit allowed, zero earned runs, two walks, and seven strikeouts in the 4-0 victory. Alexy has thrown 11 shutout innings since joining the Rangers rotation. He'll get a tough assignment next time against the Houston Astros. However, Alexy has been solid through two starts and is worth looking at as a streaming option for his next outing. |

Tue Aug 31 2021 | 11:14 | A.J. Alexy Makes Easy Work Of Rockies |
Texas Rangers starting pitcher A.J. Alexy made his MLB debut against the Colorado Rockies on Monday. He went five scoreless innings, one hit allowed, three walks, and four strikeouts in the 4-3 victory. The 23-year-old looked solid here, but take it with a grain of salt because it's the Rockies lineup outside of Denver. Fantasy managers should wait and see how he does against the Los Angeles Angels during his next time out. Alexy could be an interesting streaming option for that contest. |

Sun Aug 29 2021 | 12:56 | A.J. Alexy Starting Monday For Rangers |
Texas Rangers starting pitcher A.J. Alexy has been added to the taxi squad and will be recalled to make his Major League debut in a start against Colorado on Monday, the team announced. German Marquez is expected to start for the Rockies on the road. Alexy, a 23-year-old right-hander, was 3-1 with a 1.66 ERA and 76 strikeouts in 65 innings this year in the minors. Given his improved arsenal, Alexy should be monitored in redraft leagues and could be worth a flier in longer-term formats in case his stuff plays in the majors. |
