Sun Aug 2512:26Jared Triolo Taking A Seat Against Reds
Pittsburgh Pirates infielder Jared Triolo isn't included in the starting lineup for Sunday's series finale against the division-rival Cincinnati Reds at PNC Park. Triolo will get a day off to rest after starting in each of the team's last eight games. Alika Williams is getting the nod at second base for this one and will bat eighth against Reds right-hander Nick Martinez. The 26-year-old Triolo is getting more run in Pittsburgh's lineup with both Nick Gonzales and Ke'Bryan Hayes on the shelf. He's still not much more of a fantasy option in mixed leagues, though, and is hitting .197/.283/.285 on the year with six homers, 33 RBI and five steals in 95 games played in his second year in the big leagues. Fantasy managers should be able to find better DFS options than Williams, who is still searching for his first major-league home run in his 75th career game.

Tue Aug 2009:56Jared Triolo Continues Flashing Power
Pittsburgh Pirates third baseman Jared Triolo homered for the second time in three games during Monday's 4-3 loss at the Texas Rangers. Triolo accounted for the Pirates' offense with his three-run dinger off Dane Dunning in the top of the fourth inning, his sixth. The recent power surge has Triolo hitting .201/.287/.295 with 31 RBI, 27 runs scored, and five stolen bases in six attempts. Despite Triolo's bat showing some promise, fantasy managers in standard leagues are wise to avoid him. Those in NL-only and deeper league formats should consider him if options are limited at the hot corner.

Mon Apr 115:59Jared Triolo Out Due To Sore Knee
Pittsburgh Pirates infielder Jared Triolo (knee) said he woke up on Monday feeling "a lot better" after fouling a ball off his knee on Sunday, but he's out of the lineup against the Washington Nationals as a precaution. Triolo ended up staying in the 9-7 win over the Miami Marlins on Sunday, so his injury isn't anything serious and shouldn't land him on the injured list. With an off day coming on Tuesday, the 26-year-old could be back in action as soon as Wednesday versus the Nationals. Alika Williams will get the start at second base on Monday and is hitting ninth against Nationals left-hander MacKenzie Gore. In the first four games of the year, Triolo has gone 5-for-17 (.294) with two RBI, a stolen base and two runs scored in 20 plate appearances.

Sat Feb 312:18Jared Triolo Could Bounce Around On The Infield
Pittsburgh Pirates infielder Jared Triolo's versatility may keep him from being the "everyday" second baseman in 2024, according to MLB.com's Jake Crouse. Triolo impressed in his rookie season in 2023, hitting .298/.388/.398 with three home runs, 21 RBI, six stolen bases and 30 runs scored in his first 54 major-league games. He's also a minor-league Gold Glove defender at third base and basically can play any position on the infield dirt. The fact that Triolo carries four gloves because of his utility defensively makes it seem less likely that he sticks at second permanently versus bouncing around. The good news is that the 25-year-old should see plenty of playing time at multiple positions, although it's fair to wonder how well he'll perform after having a fortunate BABIP while striking out a third of the time in 2023. Triolo is most attractive in deep mixed and NL-only leagues because of his defensive versatility.
