Thu Sep 1211:34Nick Castellanos Homers, Drives In A Pair On Wednesday
Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Nick Castellanos went 1-for-2 with a two-run home run, a walk, was hit by a pitch, and scored twice in Wednesday's 3-2 win over the Rays. It was the 20th home run of the season for the 32-year-old and the two RBI brought him to 80 on the year. The HBP comes a day after Castellanos was plunked in Tuesday's game leading to both benches clearing and Rays pitcher Edwin Uceta being suspended two games. For the season, Castellanos owns a solid .245-20-80-69-5 line with a .311 wOBA and 99 wRC+. It's somewhat of a down year for the veteran after the stats he put up last season, although he's increased his contact rate by more than six percent year-over-year and drastically cut down on his strikeout rate, so he could still finish strong.

Castellanos is hitting a robust .346 over his last seven games, with two home runs and five RBI. The Phillies acquired Austin Hays from the Baltimore Orioles earlier this week, but Castellanos figures to continue to see regular at-bats in right field for the NL East-leading Phillies.

Mon Jul 2207:42Nick Castellanos Hits 14th Homer
Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Nick Castellanos went 2-for-5 with a solo home run in Sunday's 6-0 victory against the Pittsburgh Pirates. The veteran's homer came in the top of the ninth inning off Josh Fleming to give the Phillies some added insurance on the way to their 63rd victory. Castellanos opened the season ice-cold, but has since gotten his act together and overall is hitting .239 with 14 homers and 50 RBI for the NL East leading Phillies. As part of one of the best lineups in the league, managers should feel confident rostering the veteran the rest of the season

Mon Jul 2202:42Nick Castellanos Swats Another Oddly Timed Home Run Sunday
Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Nick Castellanos was at it again Sunday homering on yet another interesting day in our modern history. Castellanos smacked a garbage-time solo home run in the ninth inning, his 14th of the season. If you haven't been paying attention Castellanos has a flair for the dramatics during the most questionable times. He most notably homered in the middle of Reds former broadcaster, Thom Brennaman's, famous on-air apology and since then has tacked on a few more. He's homered in the past on the day Queen Elizabeth died and the day the I-95 collapsed in Philadelphia. If crazier things happened more on the daily Castellanos could potentially reach Barry Bonds territory, but luckily for society's sake, Castellanos has only 14 long balls on the season and not the 99 he'd have if big news dropped every single day.

In July, Castellanos is hitting .262 with two home runs, five RBI, and four runs scored for the NL East leaders. The Phillies will look to the veteran to continue to be productive as they seek a playoff berth in 2024.

Sun Jun 3021:25Nick Castellanos Collects Four Hits
Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Nick Castellanos was nearly unstoppable at the plate during Sunday's game against the Miami Marlins. The Phillies are missing multiple key pieces in the lineup, but luckily Castellanos has stepped up nicely. On Sunday, Castellanos went 4-for-5 with a double, three RBI, and a stolen base in the win. The veteran outfielder nearly hit a home run if it wasn't knocked down by outfielder Bryan De La Cruz in left field. Castellanos has been slow out of the gate but the Phillies are going to need more performances like this going forward.

Sun Jun 2307:10Nick Castellanos Drives In Five In Saturday Win
Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Nick Castellanos had a huge night in his team's 12-1 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Saturday. Castellanos went 2-for-3 with a homer and five RBI to help power the Phillies to the win. The 32-year-old's two-run shot off reliever Scott McGough in the fifth inning traveled 428 feet and had an exit velocity of 106.2 MPH. Castellanos also added a sacrifice fly and a two-run single in the blowout win. Overall, the veteran is hitting .225 with 11 homers, 39 runs, 37 RBI, and one steal over 293 at-bats for the Phillies this season.

Thu May 2316:36Nick Castellanos Displays Power On Thursday
Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Nick Castellanos put on a power display as the Phillies completed a sweep of the defending World Series-champion Texas Rangers on Thursday, going 2-for-4 with a solo home run to raise his batting average on the year to just .206. Castellanos' solo home run in the seventh inning gave the team an insurance run at 5-2 late in the game. The 32-year-old veteran two-time All-Star came into the day hitting just .200 on the year, and his long ball on Thursday was just his fifth in 51 games played. Castellanos definitely isn't the higher-average hitter he was earlier in his career, but he still figures to be a pretty good buy-low candidate in fantasy circles who will also continue to get plenty of RBI opportunities in a potent Phillies lineup. His homer on Thursday was the first time clearing the fences since May 12.

Sat May 1105:23Nick Castellanos Homers As Bat Continues To Perk Up
Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Nick Castellanos hit his third homer of the season to help Philadelphia to an 8-2 win over the Miami Marlins on Friday. Since April 20, Castellanos has hit .275/.333/.478 to help boost his batting average to .207, a 54-point jump in batting average since he ended the April 19 loss to the White Sox batting .153. All three of his homers have come in that span as the Phillies, who have won eight of their last 10, are banking that Castellanos can continue to keep his bat perking up. Castellanos is slashing .207/.268/.571 with three home runs, 13 RBI, 16 runs, and a stolen base over 157 plate appearances in 2024.

Tue Apr 1600:37Nick Castellanos Goes Hitless Monday
Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Nick Castellanos turned in another disappointing game at the plate in Monday's 2-1 extra-innings win over the Rockies. Castellanos went 0-for-4 with a strikeout batting sixth. The 32-year-old has gotten off to a very slow start offensively, slashing just .177/.250/.177 with no home runs and five RBI in 68 plate appearances. However, fantasy managers should give him a bit of a leash given his career track record and strong 2023 season.

Fri Mar 2914:29Nick Castellanos Back In Seven-Hole In Season Opener
Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Nick Castellanos is hitting in the seven-hole for Friday's season opener versus the Atlanta Braves and right-hander Spencer Strider. The veteran largely hit somewhere in the top four in the lineup for much of the 2023 season but was moved down into the seven-hole more frequently in September. Nonetheless, it was a bounce-back season for the 32-year-old who hit .272 with 29 home runs while setting career highs with 106 RBI and 11 stolen bases. It was the third time in his career he has reached the century mark in RBI while his previous career-high in steals was seven in the 2022 season. The increase in stolen base attempts sure boosts his fantasy value but fantasy managers should brace for a few less steals in 2024.

Fri Mar 117:12Nick Castellanos Goes Hitless Friday
Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Nick Castellanos went hitless in a pair of at-bats in Friday's Grapefruit League contest versus the Miami Marlins. The veteran flew out to center field in his first trip to the plate in the second inning before lining out to third base in the fourth. The hitless effort lowered his spring-training average to just .125 (1-for-8) with a pair of strikeouts against zero walks across eight trips to the plate. The 31-year-old was involved in minor trade speculation this offseason on the heels of a season that saw him hit .272 with 29 home runs, 11 stolen bases, and a career-high 106 RBI and 11 stolen bases. Aside from an odd 2022 season, Castellanos is a fairly safe power bet with ATC projecting 24 home runs, eight stolen bases, 87 RBI, and a .263 average for the outfielder in the 2024 season.

Thu Nov 9 202317:06Nick Castellanos Could Be Dealt By Phillies
Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Nick Castellanos could reportedly be traded by the club this offseason. The Phillies are "open to the possibility" of trading Castellanos which could clear three years and $60 million off their books. The veteran enjoyed a solid bounce-back season in his second year with the Phillies, hitting .272 with a career-high 29 home runs and 11 stolen bases across 157 appearances. He went on to slug five more home runs alongside an .843 OPS in 47 postseason at-bats before the Phillies were eliminated by the D-backs in the NLCS. Should the Phillies shop Castellanos, they should have a fairly wide range of suitors considering his career .276 average and .799 OPS in parts of 11 seasons, production that grades out 12% above the league average, as per his career 112 wRC+.

Fri Oct 13 202312:13Nick Castellanos Goes Deep Twice To Send Braves Packing
Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Nick Castellanos was the difference in the series-clinching 3-1 win over the Atlanta Braves on Thursday in Game 4 of the National League Division Series. Castellanos was seeing the ball well, going 3-for-3 with two solo home runs and a walk to send the Phillies to the Championship Series for the second straight year with an NLDS series win over their division rivals and the best team in baseball record-wise in 2023. The 31-year-old has a whopping four home runs in back-to-back games after slugging 29 long balls during the regular season. Castellanos is red-hot heading into an NLCS matchup against the Arizona Diamondbacks. He's gone 9-for-23 (.391) with four homers, two doubles, five RBI, a steal and six runs scored in six postseason games this year.

Fri Aug 11 202312:11Nick Castellanos Stays Hot With Another Long Ball
While serving as the designated hitter in Thursday night's 6-2 win over the visiting Washington Nationals, Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Nick Castellanos went 1-for-5 with a home run, two RBI and a run scored. While the 31-year-old hasn't been all that great since the All-Star break at the plate, he's off to a great start in the month of August, going 13-for-43 (.302) with six home runs, 12 RBI, a stolen base and nine runs scored in 10 starts. Castellanos is currently riding an 11-game hitting streak that dates back to July 30.

Mon Jul 31 202317:11Nick Castellanos Resting Monday
Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Nick Castellanos is getting a rest day on Monday against the Miami Marlins. In his absence, Brandon Marsh is starting in right field and is batting seventh against Marlins right-hander Edward Cabrera. Johan Rojas is starting in center field and hitting in the nine-hole. It's a regular day of rest for Castellanos, who is hitting a strong .273/.316/.444 with 14 home runs, 60 RBI, six stolen bases and 52 runs scored in 410 at-bats this year for the Phillies. Marsh will look to stay hot offensively to close out the month of July after going 19-for-64 (.297) with no homers, five doubles, two triples, eight RBI, two stolen bases and six runs scored in 21 games so far in the month. He hasn't gone deep since a two-homer performance back on June 27.

Sun Jul 16 202313:06Nick Castellanos Taking A Seat On Sunday
Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Nick Castellanos is not in the starting lineup for Sunday's series finale against the San Diego Padres. This looks to just be a routine day off for the veteran outfielder. Johan Rojas is starting in center field while Kyle Schwarber and Brandon Marsh round out the corner outfield spots. After a disappointing debut with the Phillies last season, Castellanos is putting together an excellent 2023. He's slashing .292/.333/.478 with 13 home runs, 55 RBI, and six stolen bases over 360 at-bats.

Thu Jun 29 202301:55Nick Castellanos Smacks 10th Homer To Continue Rebound
Philadelphia Phillies right fielder Nick Castellanos went 2-for-5 with a home run, four RBI, and two runs scored in Wednesday's 8-5 win over the Chicago Cubs. The 31-year-old has been virtually allergic to slumps all season. Since April 7 (71 games), Castellanos hasn't gone longer than two games without logging a hit as a remarkable model of consistency. Better yet, the former Silver Slugger is hitting .371 with a 1.015 OPS, five homers, 21 RBI, and three stolen bases over 89 June at-bats. Castellanos has succeeded as a bet-on-talent fantasy pick thus far after an uncharacteristically weak Philly debut season. Overall, the slugger is batting .314 with an .857 OPS, 10 big flies, 49 RBI and five swipes across 303 ABs.

Tue Jun 20 202316:12Nick Castellanos Back From Illness Tuesday
Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Nick Castellanos (illness) is back in the starting lineup against right-hander Spencer Strider and the division-rival Atlanta Braves on Tuesday. Castellanos is in right field and is hitting in the three-hole. He missed the final two games of the weekend series against the Oakland Athletics with an upset stomach, but he's feeling better now and should be returned to all starting fantasy lineups. The 31-year-old veteran slugger is in the midst of a bounce-back year in his second year in Philadelphia, hitting .315 (87-for-276) with 23 doubles, a triple, eight home runs, 42 RBI, four steals and 44 runs scored in 70 games. Castellanos is also riding a six-game hitting streak in which he's gone 10-for-28 (.357) with two doubles, a homer, six RBI and a steal.

Sun Jun 18 202313:55Nick Castellanos Remains Out On Sunday
Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Nick Castellanos (illness) is still absent from the lineup on Sunday against the Oakland Athletics. The veteran outfielder hasn't played since June 16 while dealing with an illness so fantasy managers can still consider him day-to-day. Josh Harrison is starting in right field in his place on Sunday against the A's. The team should provide an update on Castellanos' status following Sunday's game.
