Wed Apr 20 202216:41Marcell Ozuna Slugging .577 Through The Early Going
Atlanta Braves outfielder Marcell Ozuna is off to a strong start to the 2022 season. Over 13 games, he's slashing .288/.296/.577 with four home runs, three doubles, eight home runs and six runs. The 31-year-old struggled to the tune of a .213/.288/.356 slash line during the 48 games he played last year, so it's encouraging to see him looking more like his pre-2021 self early on this year. He's making a ton of hard contact at the plate right now with a 15.2% barrel rate and a 58.7% hard-hit rate.

Thu Apr 7 202216:35Marcell Ozuna Hitting Cleanup On Opening Day
Atlanta Braves outfielder Marcell Ozuna is slotting in as the team's cleanup hitter in his return to the diamond for Opening Day. The Braves are set to host right-hander Tyler Mahle and the Cincinnati Reds for the game. Ozuna has gone 3-for-9 with a home run and six RBI over his career against Mahle. This will be Ozuna's first MLB game since receiving a season-long suspension for domestic abuse last year. He was also struggling at the plate last season before the suspension, as he had an OPS of just .645 over 48 games in 2021. We'll see if he can put his past struggles and transgressions behind him and return to being a prominent fantasy asset in 2022.

Wed Apr 6 202209:47Marcell Ozuna Caps Spring With .542 OPS
Atlanta Braves outfielder Marcell Ozuna returned to the club this spring after serving a suspension for domestic abuse last season. He had a rough time at the plate in spring play. Over 12 games, he slashed just .188/.229/.313 while compiling only two extra-base hits, a home run and a double. Apart from the off-field concerns regarding Ozuna, the 31-year-old struggled significantly during his time on the field in 2021. Over 48 games, he had a .213/.288/.356 slash line with seven home runs. His upside is immense, as displayed by his NL-leading 18 home runs and 56 RBI during the COVID-shortened 2020 season, but he's a risky fantasy investment for multiple reasons going into the 2022 campaign.

Sat Feb 5 202220:00Marcell Ozuna Expected To Return In 2022
Atlanta Braves outfielder Marcell Ozuna is expected to return to the field in 2022, according to manager Brian Snitker. Ozuna is eligible to return this season following his suspension for his domestic violence charges. Snitker mentions that he would have no issues playing Ozuna, assuming he's cleared to play. The Braves have Ozuna under contract through the 2024 campaign. He struggled at the plate during his short 2021 season. It appears Snitker would have no issues starting or using Ozuna next season. Although, it's uncertain if Ozuna is going to have a significant role on the team or how he'll rebound.

Fri Jul 30 202118:35Braves reload for chase in mediocre NL East with 4 trades
ATLANTA (AP) — The Atlanta Braves’ flurry of trade-deadline moves on Friday highlighted how fortunate they are to be in the NL East, where any team close to .500 is still relevant. Though the Braves entered the day one game under .500, they were only four games behind the first-place New York Mets. Emboldened by the standings, general manager Alex Anthopoulos acquired outfielders Adam Duvall, Jorge Soler and Eddie Rosario and reliever Richard Rodriguez in an attempt to position Atlanta for a run at its fourth consecutive division title. The moves were notable for a team that has not been above .500 all season. “There’s no doubt we’ve had our challenges,” Anthopoulos said. “The one thing that’s fortunate for us is we’re playing in the NL East in 2021. We’re all in it.” The Mets, second-place Phillies and Braves are still in the race. The Nationals and Marlins bowed out, moving veterans for prospects at the trade deadline. “From our standpoint, when talent leaves the NL East, we’re certainly... [More]
Fri Jul 30 202114:25Braves bolster outfield by re-acquiring Duvall from Marlins
ATLANTA (AP) — The Atlanta Braves bolstered their depleted outfield on Friday by acquiring Adam Duvall from the Miami Marlins for catcher Alex Jackson. The 32-year-old Duvall is returning to Atlanta, where he played the last three seasons. He hit .229 and ranks among the top 10 in the National League with 22 home runs and 68 RBIs in 90 games for Miami this season. The Braves also acquired outfielder Eddie Rosario and cash from Cleveland for infielder Pablo Sandoval on Friday. On July 15, Atlanta landed outfielder Joc Pederson in a trade that sent first baseman Bryce Ball to the Chicago Cubs. The Braves needed to revamp their outfield as they attempt to remain in the hunt for a fourth consecutive NL East title. Atlanta suffered a severe blow to its playoff hopes when it lost Ronald Acuña Jr. to a season-ending knee injury on July 10. Braves left fielder Marcell Ozuna, who was on the injured list, is facing domestic violence charges following an arrest at his home in May. He has not played since. The Braves first acquired Duvall at the 2018 trade deadline. He was an All-Star with the Reds in 2016, when he set career highs with 33 homers and 103 RBIs. Jackson, 25, has three hits in 43 at-bats (.070) in 19 games with Atlanta the last three seasons. ___ More AP MLB: https://apnews.com/hub/MLB and https://twitter.com/AP_Sports
Thu Jul 29 202119:25Prosecutors Drop Felony Charges Against Marcell Ozuna
After reviewing bodycam footage of a domestic violence incident involving Atlanta Braves outfielder Marcell Ozuna, local prosecutors have decided to drop the felony aggravated assault, strangulation charge against Ozuna, according to Amy Dash of Fox Sports Radio. Despite the dropped felony charge, Ozuna is still facing two misdemeanor charges of battery, family violence and simple assault, family violence which could carry a potential jail sentence of up to a year. While it seems that Ozuna may plead out and avoid jail time, there's still no guarantee that he will take the field again this year as MLB has not concluded their investigation yet. Managers can continue to stash him on their bench if they want, but there's a better than 50-50 chance he will not play again in 2021.
