RHP Jose Valdez was promoted from Triple-A on Saturday and made his Angels debut in the 8-6 loss to Seattlee. Valdez, a 26-year-old reliever who made seven appearances with the Tigers last season, came on in the bottom of the seventh inning and walked three of the four batters he faced. "Big arm," manager Mike Scioscia said. "I don't know if he was just trying to overthrow."

RHP Jose Valdez was designated for assignment Wednesday. Valdez, 26, had not pitched for the Tigers this season after going 0-1 in seven games for them last year. He spent the season at Triple-A Toledo and Double-A Erie.

RHP Jose Valdez was recalled from Triple-A Toledo on Monday, then optioned back to Toledo after the game. The team will make a corresponding move on Tuesday. Valdez has made five relief appearances for the Mud Hens, going 0-0 with a 3.00 ERA. The 26-year-old made seven relief appearances with the Tigers last season, once in July and the rest after a September callup, going 0-1 with a 4.00 ERA.

Valdez has given up 10 hits in 9.0 innings of work out of the Tigers' bullpen. He pitched the eighth inning of Sunday's loss and yielded a home run to Twins' phenom Byron Buxton.

Some day, you'll need to remember Valdez's name for a trivia contest because that dinger was Buxton's first in the majors. That aside, Valdez has been largely unremarkable in his outings this season and has a 4:4 K:BB ratio. His knock has always been control, so he'll need to continue to focus on reducing those walks to be a factor in the Tigers' pen in 2016.

Valdez was promoted to the big leagues Thursday, MLive's Chris Iott reports.

Valdez debuted with the Tigers in July but pitched in just one game before being sent back down. Guido Knudson also received the call to strengthen the Tigers bullpen along with Valdez in the short term. Valdez has the ability to pitch more than one inning out of the bullpen, so he will likely be used in mop-up duty.

Valdez was optioned to Triple-A Toledo on Tuesday, MLive.com reports.

Valdez struggled in his lone appearance with the Tigers as he allowed two earned runs without recording an out on Friday. He will return to Triple-A Toledo's bullpen and Buck Farmer will work out of the Tigers' pen after being removed from the rotation.

Valdez was recalled from Triple-A Toledo on Friday.

Valdez will make his first trip up to the majors since 2012, when he was a member of the Astros. The 32-year-old was 3-7 with a 3.65 ERA and 8.3 K/9 across 37.0 innings (41 appearances) at Triple-A.
