Sun Sep 1519:40Mickey Moniak Considered Day-To-Day
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mickey Moniak (hand) was forced to exit late during Sunday's game against the Houston Astros. The left-handed outfielder left in the eighth inning after getting hit by a pitch in the hand. The team already had Moniak undergo further testing which revealed a hand contusion. For now, Moniak is considered as day-to-day, so he should avoid a trip to the injured list. Michael Stefanic replaced him on Sunday, but Jordyn Adams or Gustavo Campero figure to see more playing time while Moniak is out.

Sun Sep 108:45Mickey Moniak Hits Walk-Off Home Run On Saturday
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mickey Moniak blasted two decisive home runs in Saturday's 5-4 win over the Mariners. The first was a game-tying two-run shot in the seventh that chased M's starter Bryan Woo from the game, and the second came in the bottom of the ninth with two outs off of closer Andres Munoz which delivered a walk-off win for the Halos. It was the fourth consecutive game in which Moniak has recorded multiple hits, going 8-for-14 (.571) with four home runs, seven RBI, and four runs scored over that stretch. The former first-overall draft pick will look to finish strong after having his best month of the season by far, slashing .359/.397/.719 in August.

Sun Aug 2512:36Mickey Moniak Back In Angels Lineup
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mickey Moniak (elbow) is back in the starting lineup on Sunday against the Toronto Blue Jays and right-hander Kevin Gausman at the Rogers Centre, playing center field and batting in the five-hole. Moniak will return to action after missing the last couple of contests due to a minor elbow injury. The 26-year-old left-handed batter has hit .125 in eight career at-bats against Gausman but has been productive this month, going 15-for-47 (.319) with two home runs, four doubles, six RBI and seven runs scored in 14 starts. He's also been much more productive against righties in 2024, batting .232 (68-for-293) against them with all eight his home runs. Moniak will be a low-upside DFS sleeper in his return to the lineup. With Mike Trout (knee) out the rest of the season, Moniak will be a regular in center field for the Halos when they face righties.

Sat Aug 2416:39Mickey Moniak Is Still Sore
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mickey Moniak (elbow) is out of the starting lineup Saturday against the Toronto Blue Jays for a second consecutive day after being removed from Thursday's game with an apparent elbow injury. The 26-year-old is playing in his first major league season, where he has eclipsed the 100-game mark and is not living up to his expectations as a former top prospect. In 102 total games (318 at-bats), he is slashing.223/.266/.358 with eight homers, 37 RBI, 37 R, and six stolen bases. The scorching-hot Kevin Pillar is playing center field Saturday and will continue to see an uptick in at-bats while Moniak is sidelined.

Thu Aug 2221:15Mickey Moniak Experiencing Elbow Irritation
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mickey Moniak was removed with left elbow irritation in Thursday's game against the hosting Toronto Blue Jays at Rogers Centre. Moniak was hit by a pitch in the fourth inning on Thursday against Toronto, with Kevin Pillar replacing him in center field. Fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day ahead of Friday's contest against the Jays. 2024 has been a massive drop-off after a breakout 2023 season for the 26-year-old former No. 1 overall pick, who's slashing .223/.266/.358 with eight home runs, 37 RBI, 37 runs scored, and six stolen bases over 318 at-bats (102 games) this year for Anaheim. If Moniak needs to go on the injured list, the Halos would have no other choice but to play the lefty-mashing Pillar in center every day.

Tue Jul 909:19Mickey Moniak Has All-Around Offensive Outburst
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mickey Moniak went 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored during Monday's 9-4 loss to the Texas Rangers. Moniak drove in both of his runs with a triple in the bottom of the second that tied the score at the time at 2-2 before scoring the go-ahead run on a single from Jo Adell. He scored the Angels' final run on an RBI single in the bottom of the seventh from Anthony Rendon. Moniak is slashing .196/.245/.311 with four homers, 25 RBI, 24 runs scored, and five stolen bases on seven attempts. Moniak has little to offer for fantasy managers outside of deeper AL-Only leagues.

Wed Jun 2606:52Mickey Moniak Hits Grand Slam Tuesday
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mickey Moniak continued his recent hot stretch in a 7-5 win over the Oakland A's on Tuesday. Moniak went 1-for-2 with a grand slam, a walk, and two runs scored in the win over Oakland. With the Angels trailing 2-1 in the fourth inning, Moniak launched his first career grand slam to put LA in the lead. After a slow start to the season, Moniak is swinging a hot bat of late, hitting .304 with two homers and 12 RBI over his past 15 games. Overall this season he is hitting .197 with four homers, 19 runs, 21 RBI, and four steals across 183 at-bats. While his season-long numbers don't look great, Moniak should be rostered in deeper leagues thanks to his recent strong hitting.

Mon Apr 116:44Mickey Moniak Back From Illness
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mickey Moniak (illness) is feeling better on Monday and is starting in right field and batting eighth versus the Miami Marlins and right-hander Max Meyer. Moniak was scratched from the series finale against the Baltimore Orioles on Sunday but is already feeling better and is back in the lineup. The 25-year-old former first overall pick in 2016 by the Philadelphia Phillies has seen his fantasy stock fall since the end of last year in Anaheim due to the addition of outfielder Aaron Hicks. He's also in the eight-hole on Monday, which won't really endear him to any DFS managers. In two plate appearances through the team's first three games, Moniak has gone hitless. He'll look for his first hit of 2024 in his first start of the season.

Thu Feb 2216:07Luis Rengifo, Mickey Moniak Are Candidates To Lead Off
Los Angeles Angels manager Ron Washington said that he envisions second baseman Luis Rengifo or outfielder Mickey Moniak batting leadoff this year. Washington also sees first baseman Nolan Schanuel as the No. 2 hitter in front of outfielder Mike Trout and third baseman Anthony Rendon. Meanwhile, shortstop Zach Neto will hit ninth in the batting order. The 26-year-old switch-hitting Rengifo has fared better against left-handed pitchers, so it would make sense for him to hit leadoff against southpaws, while Moniak hits atop the lineup against right-handers. Between second and third base, Rengifo should play regularly for the Halos in 2024, although his modest power and speed makes him a bench bat in deep-mixed fantasy leagues, at best.

Thu Sep 28 202321:50Mickey Moniak Back From Injured List
The Los Angeles Angels reinstated outfielder Mickey Moniak (back) from the 10-day injured list on Thursday and optioned left-hander Kolton Ingram and infielder Jared Walsh to Triple-A Salt Lake after Wednesday's game. The Angels also reinstated right-hander Chase Silseth (concussion) from the seven-day injured list. Moniak will return for the first time since Sept. 5 with left-back tightness. The 25-year-old should see regular starts in the final three games of the regular season this weekend for the Halos. The former first overall pick of the 2016 draft has had by far the best season of his MLB career in Anaheim in 2023, hitting .280/.307/.490 with 13 home runs, 21 doubles, two triples, 43 RBI, six stolen bases and 33 runs scored in 83 games.

Fri Sep 15 202318:40Mickey Moniak Placed On Injured List
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mickey Moniak (back) has been placed on the 10-day injured list. This news isn't shocking considering Moniak hasn't played in roughly 10 days due to a lingering back issue. He'll be joined on the injured list by fellow infielder Mike Moustakas (forearm) on Friday. In a corresponding move, infielder Kyren Paris and outfielder Jordyn Adams have been recalled from Triple-A. Both players have struggled during their brief time in the majors this season. The expectation is that they will get significant playing time down the stretch of the season.

Mon Sep 11 202321:26Mickey Moniak Not Playing Monday
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mickey Moniak (back) is not in his team's lineup for a Monday matchup against the Seattle Mariners. Moniak will miss his sixth straight game after getting scratched from the lineup last week with back tightness. A trip to the injured list hasn't been ruled out at this point, although it remains to be seen how the Angels choose to proceed. Moniak is hitting .280 with 13 homers and 43 RBI in 2023.

Sat Sep 9 202318:42Mickey Moniak To Miss Third Straight Game
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mickey Moniak (back) remains out of the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Cleveland Guardians. This is the third straight game that Moniak has missed due to back tightness. For now, Moniak is considered as day-to-day, so hopefully he'll be able to avoid a trip to the injured list. In the meantime, Brett Phillips will patrol center field and bat ninth versus right-hander Lucas Giolito on Saturday. Fantasy managers will have to check back on Sunday for another update on Moniak.

Fri Sep 8 202318:56Mickey Moniak To Miss Another Game
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mickey Moniak (back) remains out of the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Cleveland Guardians. Moniak was scratched ahead of Thursday's contest due to back tightness. It appears he's still dealing with the issue, so he'll miss at least one more game. The fact he hasn't been placed on the injured list means it's hopefully only a day-to-day issue. In his absence, Brett Phillips will cover center field and bat eighth versus left-hander Logan Allen on Friday.

Fri Sep 8 202301:21Mickey Moniak Scratched With Back Tightness
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mickey Moniak was scratched from Thursday's game against the Cleveland Guardians with back tightness. Moniak was initially in the lineup as the center fielder, hitting sixth in the order, but was taken out and replaced by Brett Phillips. There hasn't been any news about the severity of the issue, so Moniak's fantasy owners will want to keep an eye on his status tomorrow. The lefty has struggled mightily since mid-July, seeing his OPS drop from 1.013 to .797 in that time. He can be dropped in all but the deepest of leagues.

Fri Sep 1 202320:07Mickey Moniak Returns Against A's
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mickey Moniak (back) has returned to center field and is hitting eighth in the order on Friday against the Oakland Athletics and left-hander JP Sears. Moniak didn't play on Wednesday but rested up during the off day and will return for the opener of a three-game series in Oakland this weekend. The 25-year-old left-handed hitter has thrived in his first season in Anaheim, although he's coming off a rough month of August in which he hit .202 (17-for-84) with two home runs, three doubles, a triple, six RBI, 38 strikeouts, two stolen bases and four runs scored in 24 games (22 starts). Moniak has gone just 9-for-52 (.173) with zero of his 13 home runs this year against southpaws, so fantasy managers will want to avoid him Friday.

Wed Aug 30 202312:00Mickey Moniak Out With Back Injury
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mickey Moniak (back) is not in the starting lineup on Wednesday against the Philadelphia Phillies. Luis Rengifo is trying his hand at center field and will bat second, while Brandy Drury starts at the keystone and hits cleanup for the Angels against Phillies left-hander Cristopher Sanchez. Moniak left Tuesday's game prematurely due to back soreness and he'll now sit out on Wednesday, but he should be considered day-to-day moving forward. With a day off coming on Thursday, hopefully he'll be back in action on Friday for the start of a series against the Oakland Athletics. The 25-year-old has had by far the best year of his career in his first full year in Anaheim in 2023, hitting .281 (80-for-285) with 13 home runs, 41 RBI, six stolen bases and 32 runs scored in 78 games.

Wed Aug 30 202309:00Mickey Moniak Dealing With Back Tightness
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mickey Moniak (back) left Tuesday's contest against the Philadelphia Phillies early after dealing with back tightness, according to Jeff Fletcher of the SoCal News Group. Fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day, and he won't be in Wednesday's lineup as it was already a scheduled day off. Moniak has broken out this year, posting a .281/.310/.498 slash line with 13 bombs, 32 runs, 41 RBI, and six stolen bases over 78 games. However, the former first-overall pick's at-bats are limited due to a .396 OPS off of southpaws. Moniak is still a solid outfielder in deeper formats, and hopefully, he can return soon.

Thu Aug 3 202319:08Mickey Moniak Returns To Thursday’s Lineup After Day Off
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mickey Moniak (foot) has returned to Thursday's lineup versus the Seattle Mariners. The 25-year-old was out of action on Wednesday due to foot soreness, but he's back in the mix after a one-game respite. Moniak takes over in center field and bats sixth for the commencement of a four-game series vs. the M's in this one. The former No. 1 overall pick has been a revelation in 2023, posting top-50 roto value in fantasy with a .317 BA, 11 home runs, 35 RBI, 29 runs scored, and four stolen bases through 205 at-bats.

Wed Aug 2 202316:31Mickey Moniak Dealing With Sore Foot
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mickey Moniak (foot) is dealing with a sore foot after fouling a ball off of it, but he has been playing through the issue. It's part of the reason why the team called up Jordyn Adams. Moniak is likely to get a day off in the coming days. The 25-year-old didn't play at all in Wednesday's 12-5 loss to the Atlanta Braves, and he could also be held out for the start of a new series against the Seattle Mariners on Thursday. It doesn't sound like Moniak is in danger of landing on the injured list, but it's something to watch. Moniak has been having a breakout season in his first full season in Anaheim, and he hit .309 (29-for-94) with three homers, five doubles, 14 RBI, two stolen bases and 11 runs scored in 23 games in July. Hopefully playing through his recent foot injury won't limit him offensively.
