Wed Sep 400:10Chris Sale Surpasses 200 Strikeouts In Tuesday's Win
Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Chris Sale hit a season milestone in Tuesday's 3-0 win over the Rockies, notching his 200th strikeout. Sale pitched seven innings, allowing six hits and no walks with nine strikeouts. The 35-year-old has stayed healthy, helping him compile a throwback season. He is now 16-3 with a 2.46 ERA, a 1.01 WHIP, and 206 strikeouts in 26 starts and 160 2/3 IP. His strikeout skills have never been questioned, but Sale was last healthy enough to reach at least 200 strikeouts in 2019. His next start will be against the Blue Jays, who haven't hit particularly well overall but haven't struck out much.

Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Chris Sale managed a quality start in Wednesday night's victory over the hosting Minnesota Twins at Target Field, striking out six batters in the win. Sale bolstered his Cy Young case with his 15th win as the Braves swept the Twins on Wednesday, most notably escaping a bases-loaded jam in the fourth inning. The 35-year-old All-Star left-hander has arguably been the top pitcher in all of baseball this year, submitting a 2.58 ERA and 1.02 WHP with 197 punchouts and 34 walks across 153 2/3 frames.

The 8x All-Star's renaissance season continues as he's now tied with the Tigers' Tarik Skubal for the most wins in all of baseball with 14, and he now owns a 2.62 ERA (2.06 FIP), 1.00 WHIP, and an elite 27.9% K-BB%. He is tied for the league lead with 13 wins and is second with a 2.61 ERA and 177 strikeouts, while his 0.97 WHIP ranks fifth. Fri Jul 2600:41Chris Sale Dominates Mets On Thursday
Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Chris Sale was excellent on Thursday, tossing 7 innings of two-run ball in a 3-2 extra innings loss to the New York Mets. Unfortunately for Sale, the Braves couldn't get much going offensively and he ended up taking a no decision. Still, the lefty was dominant again in this one, striking out nine while allowing just two hits and a walk. He has been one of the best pitchers in baseball this year and is in the running for the Cy Young in what has been a tremendous bounce back for the 35-year-old. Sale is an elite option in fantasy.

Mon Jul 819:44Chris Sale Pushed Back To Tuesday
The Atlanta Braves have pushed back left-hander Chris Sale's next start from Monday to Tuesday this week against the Arizona Diamondbacks on the road. Taking Sale's scheduled start on Monday for the series opener in Phoenix will be right-hander Bryce Elder, who was recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett. Fantasy managers can still keep Sale in their starting lineups for the week, although he may not be in line for a two-start week now. The 35-year-old veteran southpaw was named to his eighth All-Star squad this year, and his first since 2018, after going 11-3 with a 2.71 ERA (league-best 2.26 FIP) and league-best 0.91 WHIP with 127 strikeouts and only 19 walks in 99 2/3 innings over 16 starts in his first year in Atlanta. Sale faced the D-backs in his second start in 2024 on April 7 and allowed two earned runs while walking none and fanning six in 5 1/3 innings of work.

Wed Jul 323:33Chris Sale Hurls Quality Start, Collects Win Wednesday
Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Chris Sale (11-3) hurled a quality start and picked up his 11th win Wednesday night, going six innings and allowing one run on three hits and two walks with nine strikeouts in a 3-1 victory over the San Francisco Giants. Since getting knocked around by the Oakland A's for eight runs in four innings back on June 1, the southpaw has been nothing but brilliant. Five straight starts of two runs or less have lowered his season ERA to 2.71, putting him in the running with a trio of Phillies starting pitchers -- Ranger Suarez, Cristopher Sanchez, and Zack Wheeler -- to start on the mound for the National League All-Stars in the Midsummer Classic. Sale and his incredible 0.91 WHIP will head to the rubber against the Diamondbacks next Monday, looking to improve his chances of that All-Star starting nod.

Thu Jun 2722:03Chris Sale Fans 11 In Tough-Luck Loss
Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Chris Sale struck out 11 batters over seven innings of one-run ball in his strong performance against the hosting Chicago White Sox on Thursday afternoon, but he was left with a tough-luck loss despite a wonderful showing on the mound. The former White Sox ace dominated his former team on Thursday, but he was provided no run support to spoil the outing a bit. Sale has flourished during his first season in Atlanta, registering a 2.79 ERA, 0.92 WHIP, and a tidy 118:17 K:BB across 93 2/3 innings. The 35-year-old All-Star southpaw will take the ball again for the Braves in a favorable matchup at home against the San Francisco Giants on Wednesday.

Sat Jun 2200:15Chris Sale Cruises To 10th Win Friday
Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Chris Sale was stellar during Friday's start in the Bronx against the hosting New York Yankees, striking out eight and allowing just one run on one hit across five innings for his 10th win of the season. Staked to an early three-run lead, Sale gave up a lone hit, which was a fluky Jahmai Jones triple as left fielder Adam Duvall lost track of a fly ball, with three walks against a team he mostly struggled against back during his Boston Red Sox days. Well on his way his eighth career All-Star nod, the 35-year-old veteran southpaw has a scintillating 2.91 ERA, 0.93 WHIP, and 107:16 K:BB over 86 2/3 innings (14 starts) for the Braves during his debut season in Atlanta. Sale's next scheduled start comes in Wednesday's clash with the Cardinals in St. Louis.

Sat Jun 122:34Chris Sale Endures Worst Outing Of Season Against A's
Atlanta Braves left-hander Chris Sale's 2024 comeback story had its worst chapter on Saturday when the Braves hurler was tagged for nine hits and eight earned runs over four innings in the 11-9 defeat to the Oakland A's. Sale came into the start with a 2.12 ERA but left with an ERA of 3.06 despite taking a no-decision. Sale struck out four and walked one but gave up homers to Miguel Andujar and Brent Rooker. Expect Sale, who is 8-1 with a still-stellar 0.95 WHIP with 82 strikeouts over 67 2/3 innings, to rebound when he faces the Nationals in his next start scheduled for Friday.

Mon May 2701:45Chris Sale Dominates Pirates On Sunday
Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Chris Sale was magnificent once again on Sunday, throwing seven innings of one-run ball in an 8-1 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates. Sale allowed just four hits and one walk while striking out eight. The veteran lefty improved to 8-1, lowering his ERA to 2.12 and his WHIP to 0.85. Those are Cy Young caliber numbers, and the guy was being drafted outside of the top 100. At this point, it seems that the only thing that can hold him back from being an ace for the rest of the season is an injury.

Mon May 2023:15Chris Sale Logs Seventh Win, Third Straight Scoreless Start
Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Chris Sale (7-1) completed seven scoreless innings Monday night, improving his record to 7-1 in a 3-0 win over the San Diego Padres. Sale recorded his fourth straight game of nine or more strikeouts to go with his third straight scoreless start. In May, the lefty slinger looked like his former All-Star self with a total record of 4-0, a 0.36 ERA, 0.80 WHIP, and 37 strikeouts in 25 innings of work. All of that without recording a single walk. Look for Sale to continue his dominant May this weekend against a Pittsburgh Pirates team that has struggled mightily against southpaws this season.

Tue May 1423:16Chris Sale Whiffs Nine Batters In Seven Scoreless Innings Tuesday
Atlanta Braves starting pitcherChris Sale (6-1) stymied hitters and picked up the win in Tuesday's 7-0 victory over the Chicago Cubs. The lanky left-hander improved his record to 6-1 on the season with nine strikeouts, two hits, and no walks in seven shutout innings. Sale has had a stellar May, only allowing one run in 18 innings pitched with a 0.83 WHIP and 28 strikeouts. This hot streak has lowered his season ERA to 2.54, which begs the question. Is vintage Chris Sale back? It's hard not to think so, with three straight games of nine or more strikeouts while allowing only one total run. His next start on Monday will be a challenge against a San Diego Padres club that ranks fifth in the league in batting this season.

Thu May 900:36Chris Sale Fans 10 In Fourth Straight Win
Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Chris Sale produced his first double-digit strikeout effort of the season in Wednesday's 5-0 victory over the visiting Boston Red Sox, throwing six scoreless innings on six hits and one walk en route to his fifth win of the year. Staked to an early four-run lead, Sale cruised through his former club with relative ease on Wednesday. After giving up five runs to the last-place Miami Marlins back on April 19, the 35-year-old seven-time All-Star has gone 4-0 with a pristine 1.50 ERA and 32:3 K:BB over his past four starts (23 innings) for the Braves. Up next, Sale sets up for a manageable home start against the Chicago Cubs on Tuesday. Over their last 12 outings, the Cubs are scoring just 2.8 runs per game.

Wed May 118:44Chris Sale Strikes Out Nine Batters
Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Chris Sale has been surprisingly reliable on the mound this season. The left-hander has rejuvenated his career since joining the Braves. On Wednesday, Sale recorded a season-high nine strikeouts while allowing one run over five innings of work in the win over the Seattle Mariners. Sale has allowed three or fewer runs in five of his six starts to open the season. He'll take his 3.44 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 42/7 K/BB ratio into his next start versus the Boston Red Sox.

Fri Apr 1914:31Chris Sale Aiming For A Rebound Friday
Atlanta Braves left-hander Chris Sale will be looking to bounce back from a rough outing when he takes on the visiting Texas Rangers on Friday. The veteran was touched up for five earned runs on six hits, including a homer, while walking three against seven strikeouts across seven innings in a loss to the Marlins his last time out. Despite the tough outing, Sale has been quit good early on in his Braves tenure. While his ERA has risen to 4.58, he also sports a 2.91 xFIP, 3.09 SIERA, and a healthy 21.1% K-BB% through his first three starts with Atlanta. He remains a quality fantasy asset whose injury woes are seemingly behind him.

Mon Mar 2518:42Chris Sale Strikes Out Six On Monday
Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Chris Sale finished out his spring on a high note during Monday's game against the Minnesota Twins. The left-hander struggled during his last two outings but bounced back nicely here. Sale struck out six batters over three innings of work during the shutout victory. He'll end the spring with a 3.07 ERA and a 23/5 K/BB in 14 2/3 innings. Sale is set to make his Braves debut against the Philadelphia Phillies on Sunday. That isn't an ideal opponent for Sale but he has done enough for fantasy managers to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Wed Mar 2022:03Chris Sale Set To Start Third Regular Season Game
Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Chris Sale threw on a back field on Wednesday instead of the Grapefruit League game versus the Toronto Blue Jays. It serves as a likely indication that Sale is lined up to start Atlanta's third outing of the regular season on March 31 on the road against the division-rival Philadelphia Phillies, with aces Spencer Strider and Max Fried setting up to take the ball in the first and second contests of the year respectively. The Braves acquired the 34-year-old Sale, MLB's all-time leader with 11.1 strikeouts per nine innings, from the Boston Red Sox back on Dec. 30 in exchange for former top infielder prospect Vaughn Grissom to bolster their starting rotation. The veteran southpaw posted a 3.86 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, and 17:4 K:BB over 11 2/3 frames this spring and could be a value at his 129 NFBC ADP with a better defense behind him plus a more favorable home ballpark factor in 2024.

Sun Mar 1012:43Chris Sale Struggles In Third Start
Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Chris Sale was looking excellent on the mound until he faced off against the Baltimore Orioles on Saturday. The left-hander was smacked around for three runs in 3 2/3 innings during Saturday's loss. Sale didn't have his best stuff as he allowed four hits and walked one batter during his rough outing. Despite the bad outing, fantasy managers shouldn't be too concerned about Sale. He still holds a 3.24 ERA with 11 strikeouts and a 1.20 WHIP over 8 1/3 innings this spring.

Sun Mar 316:43Chris Sale Looks Excellent Early On
Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Chris Sale has looked sharp through two starts with his new team this spring. The left-hander has struck out nine batters with only three hits allowed in 5 2/3 innings of work. It's a small sample size but it's great to see Sale looking like himself again. The seven-time All-Star was traded to Atlanta from the Boston Red Sox in December. Sale has struggled to stay healthy over the last few seasons. He made 20 starts with the Red Sox last season but didn't look like himself. Fantasy managers shouldn't get too eager but possibly the old Sale is back with his new team.
