Wed Sep 9 2015 | 03:50 | Kubtiza being worked out at second base for first time in career |
Kubtiza is being worked out at second base for the first time in his career, MLB.com's Alden Gonzalez reports. |
He won't appear at the keystone this season, as there is not enough time for him to learn the position from scratch, but it could be an option for the 25-year-old down the line. The move would make sense, as Kubitza's bat projects to be average at best for a third baseman, so if he could handle second base that would better fit his offensive skill set. Kaleb Cowart seems to be the team's preferred option at third base heading into next year, so second base may be Kubitza's best shot at making the team out of camp in 2016. |
Tue Sep 8 2015 | 18:50 | Kubitza recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake on Tuesday |
Kubitza was recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake on Tuesday, Eric Stephen of SB Nation reports. |
A third-round pick by the Braves in 2011, Kubitza flopped in a 16-game audition with the Angels earlier this season, going 7-for-35 (.200 average) with zero extra-base hits and 15 strikeouts. Chances are, he will merely provide depth at third base and in the corner outfield over the final month, perhaps seeing a spot start here or there. |

Kubitza was optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake on Tuesday. |
Kubitza was the odd-man out in the Angels' outfield after the club activated Shane Victorino and recalled Efren Navarro. He'll head back down to Triple-A, where he has batted .276 with five home runs in 315 at-bats this season. |

Kubitza will bat ninth Saturday as the Angels' left fielder. |
Kubitza will shift from third base to left field Saturday as Matt Joyce appears to fallen out of favor as the Angels' everyday left fielder. Left field is likely Kubitza's surest path to playing time granted that Conor Gillaspie figures to see most of his starts at third base. |

Kubitza is in the lineup Friday against the Rangers, batting eighth. |
David Freese's broken finger landed him on the disabled list Thursday, which led to Kubitza's call-up from Triple-A Salt Lake. Kubitza and Taylor Featherston could both wind up seeing time at third base in Freese's absence, but the newly-added Conor Gillaspie could see a lot of time at the hot corner as well once he's added to the active roster. In 30 at-bats with the Angels this season, Kubitza has collected six hits and one RBI while striking out an unsightly 13 times in that span. |

Kubitza was called up from Triple-A Salt Lake on Thursday, Alden Gonzalez of MLB.com reports. |
David Freese is reportedly hitting the DL, so Kubitza will come up to fill his spot on the 25-man roster. Kubitza has appeared in 12 games for the Angels this season, going 6-for-31 at the plate with one RBI and 13 strikeouts. The 24-year-old is not in Thursday's lineup, and Taylor Featherston will get the nod at third base. |

The Los Angeles Angels recalled third baseman Kyle Kubitza from Triple-A Salt Lake on Thursday according to MLB.com. |
The Los Angeles Angels recalled third baseman Kyle Kubitza from Triple-A Salt Lake on Thursday according to MLB.com. Starting third baseman David Freese will miss at least 15 days after fracturing his finger Wednesday against the Minnesota Twins, which could allow Kubitza, who has tallied an .804 OPS with five home runs in 78 games with Salt Lake this season, to get some time at the position with the big club. Kubitza failed to impress at the plate while Freese was sidelined with a similar injury in May, recording just six hits in 31 at-bats, but manager Mike Scioscia said he is confident that Kubitza will be able to help the team with his bat. “Although he didn’t light it up offensively (last time in the majors), you can see there is potential there,” Scioscia told the Orange County Register. Taylor Featherston is in the starting lineup in place of Freese on Thursday. |

Kubitza was demoted to Triple-A Salt Lake after Sunday's game against the Mariners, Pedro Moura of the Orange County Register reports. |
Kubitza got off to a nice start over his first few days in the majors, but he'll ultimately finish his first big-league stint with just six hits (all singles) in 29 at-bats, along with a 13:2 K:BB ratio. He has a .287/.362/.452 slash line for Triple-A Salt Lake this season, but with just three home runs and one stolen base in 57 games. |

Kubitza is in the lineup Saturday against Oakland. |
Kubitza has gotten off to a 6-for-20 start for his big league career and is yet to strike out. He'll bat eighth in the order against Jesse Hahn and fill in for David Freese at third base. |
Thu Jun 11 2015 | 00:52 | Kubitza 2-3 in major league debut Wednesday against Rays |
Kubitza went 2-for-3 in his major league debut Wednesday against the Rays. |
Kubitza's success Wednesday was confined to the batter's box, as a late decision to throw to second base in the second inning led to a run crossing the plate before the final out of could be recorded, and he was thrown out trying to go from first to third on a single. David Freese (hamstring) was able to pinch-hit in the contest, which could mean that Kubitza's time in the majors will be short-lived, but there has been no word on who will start at third base against the Rays on Thursday. |

Kubitza has been recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake and will make his major league debut Wednesday against Tampa Bay, Alden Gonzalez of MLB.com reports. |
With David Freese leaving Tuesday's game with hamstring tightness, the Angels called up Kubitza on Wednesday. He'll take Freese's spot at third base and bat eighth in the order against Erasmo Ramirez. Kubitza slashed .273/.378/.452 at Triple-A Salt Lake this season and collected 21 doubles. |

Kubitza is slashing .297/.360/.462 with two home runs in 203 plate appearances with Triple-A Salt Lake. |
The favorable hitting conditions Kubitza has played in all season should force owners to temper their expectations for the Angels' third baseman of the future. However, the 24-year-old will probably force his way to the big leagues later this season and is poised to take over as the everyday third baseman in 2016. This is not a player who will hit for enough power to be a top-10 fantasy option at the position, but he should offer solid across-the-board production, especially if he can work his way into a favorable spot in the Angels' lineup thanks to a solid approach at the plate. |
