Tue Aug 31 202114:14Chris Paddack Sharp In Return From Injured List
San Diego Padres starter Chris Paddack was sharp over 4 innings Monday against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Returning from the IL after missing a month with an oblique strain, the right-hander yielded one earned run and fell one out short of earning his eighth victory as he fanned five while permitting just three hits and zero walks. Paddack's strong outing is encouraging for the starter-starved Friars down the home stretch. While he's struggled this year to a 4.98 ERA, 1.29 WHI9 and 23 percent strikeout rate, Paddack's managed a 3.57 ERA in his last five appearances. The 25-year-old will toe the rubber this weekend in a tough home matchup against the Houston Astros and will be a shaky SP4/5.

Mon Aug 30 202113:07Chris Paddack Will Be Activated For Monday's Start
San Diego Padres starting pitcher Chris Paddack (oblique) will return from the 10-day injured list for Monday's start versus the Arizona Diamondbacks. Paddack has missed the past month with a left oblique strain. The right-hander entered the season with high expectations, but has been a disappointment for managers that invested in him this year. For the season, Paddack is 7-6 with an ugly 5.13 ERA in 19 starts. Despite the favorable matchup against the Diamondbacks this evening, Paddack can be avoided. Even in the deepest of leagues, Paddack has become a risky option moving forward.

Fri Aug 27 202116:19Chris Paddack Nearing Return
San Diego Padres starter Chris Paddack (oblique) threw three frames in a bullpen session Thursday as he mounts his return to the mound. The right-hander hasn't pitched since July 27 and is expected to throw another bullpen before the Friars decide whether he'll need a rehab start or return straight into the rotation. With the reeling Padres over-taxing the bullpen, Paddack's imminent return is a welcome sign despite his 5.13 ERA and 1.32 WHIP this season across 93 innings. Prior to his IL stint, the 25-year-old had shown signs of improvements, posting a 4.00 ERA in his last four outings. Upon his comeback, Paddack merits a roster spot as an SP5 or spot-starter in standard leagues.

Sat Aug 7 202121:32Chris Paddack Plays Catch On Saturday
San Diego Padres starting pitcher Chris Paddack (oblique) played catch again on Saturday. The 25-year-old righty is currently sitting on an acceptable 7-6 record along with a less-than-stellar 5.13 ERA throughout 19 starts this season. He has been on the 10-day injured list since the end of July because of a left oblique strain, so the latest update is positive news for the fantasy managers who have been without him.

Sat Jul 31 202121:14Chris Paddack Lands On The 10-Day Injured List
San Diego Padres pitcher Chris Paddack (oblique) was placed on the 10-day injured list with a strained left oblique. The move was retroactive to July 28. He's struggled this season, owning an uninspiring 5.13 ERA, 1.32 WHIP, and 90 strikeouts across 93 innings in 2021. It's unclear exactly how much time Paddack will miss, but the 25-year-old has a ton of upside, and fantasy managers should continue to stash him in all league formats. Right-hander Miguel Diaz was recalled from Triple-A El-Paso in a corresponding move. Diaz was mainly used out of the bullpen and owned a 3.38 ERA, 1.23 WHIP, and 32 strikeouts over 29 1/3 innings in 2021.

Wed Jul 28 202111:31Chris Paddack Battles Back For Quality Start
San Diego Padres starter Chris Paddack earned his seventh win with six frames of three-run ball Tuesday against the Oakland Athletics. The right-hander dug an early hole with a three-run third, but managed to work around nine hits and a walk to survive as the Friars won 7-4. He struck out six. Through 93 innings, the volatile 25-year-old carries a 5.13 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 23 percent strikeout rate. Excluding an eight-run meltdown on July 7, Paddack holds a respectable 3.96 ERA in five starts this month. Despite his struggles at home, Paddack deserves a look as a spot-starter Sunday against the Colorado Rockies.
