Wed Jul 20 202209:19Zack Greinke Not Likely To Be Traded
The Kansas City Royals are currently sitting at 36-56 and are likely to be sellers prior to this coming August's trade deadline. Veteran starting pitcher Zack Greinke, however, doesn't appear likely to be on the move. Royals general manager J.J. Picollo was interviewed on the "Cody & Gold" show on 610 Sports Radio this week. When asked about the prospects of Greinke being traded, he said, "He chose Kansas City for a reason. When a player has that many years in the league, we're respectful of that. So we would have discussions with Zack if anything were to come forward. At this point, it has been pretty quiet there." Greinke signed a one-year, $13 million deal with the Royals prior to the season. The 38-year-old has pitched to a 4.64 ERA and a 1.33 WHIP across 15 starts on the year.

Thu Jun 23 202211:47Zack Greinke Will Return On Friday
Kansas City Royals starting pitcher Zack Greinke (elbow) will be activated from the injured list to start on Friday against the Oakland Athletics, according to skipper Mike Matheny. Brad Keller will go on Saturday and Brady Singer will get the ball on Sunday in the series finale. Greinke is ready to return to the Royals rotation after giving up three runs while walking one and striking out eight in 12 innings over two minor league rehab starts with Triple-A Omaha. The 38-year-old right-hander has limited upside at the point in his career, but a return matchup to face the lowly A's looks pretty attractive. In 10 starts for the Royals this year, Greinke has a 5.05 ERA and a 1.35 WHIP with 25 strikeouts and 10 walks in 51 2/3 frames.

Fri Jun 17 202223:27Zack Greinke To Make Rehab Start On Saturday
Kansas City Royals starting pitcher Zack Greinke (forearm) is scheduled to make another rehab start with Triple-A Omaha on Saturday. The 38-year-old has been sidelined since late-May due to a right flexor strain. The hope is that Greinke will be able to return after Saturday's outing. However, fantasy managers will have to wait and see how Greinke feels after his rehab start. Greinke is posting a 5.05 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 25/10 K/BB ratio through 10 starts this season. Clearly, his best days are behind him, but hopefully Greinke can turn it around when he returns.

Mon Jun 13 202210:28Zack Greinke Pitches Five Scoreless Frames In Rehab Start
Kansas City Royals starting pitcher Zack Greinke (forearm) had a nearly flawless outing in his first rehab start at Triple-A Omaha on Sunday. He pitched five scoreless innings and allowed one hit and no walks while striking out four. The 38-year-old veteran has been on the shelf since late May due to a forearm strain. Based on his success on Sunday, it seems as if there's a good chance he'll make his next start with the Royals. Across 10 starts in the majors this year, Greinke is 0-4 with a 5.05 ERA and a 1.35 WHIP.

Mon May 30 202218:17Zack Greinke Goes On Injured List
The Kansas City Royals placed starting pitcher Zack Greinke (forearm) on the 15-day injured list on Monday with a right flexor strain. In a corresponding move, the Royals recalled left-hander Foster Griffin from Triple-A Omaha. The team also reinstated outfielder Kyle Isbel from the injured list and selected the contracts of right-handers Arodys Vizcaino and Jose Cuas from Omaha. Greinke was injured in his latest start on Sunday against the Minnesota Twins, and he'll miss a couple turns in the rotation. The 38-year-old right-hander is still looking for his first win of the season and is sporting a 5.05 ERA, a 1.35 WHIP, 10 walks and 25 strikeouts through 51 2/3 innings over 10 starts for the Royals in 2022.

Mon May 2 202221:24Zack Greinke Takes Loss Monday
Kansas City Royals right-hander Zack Greinke pitched well in a 1-0 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals on Monday. Greinke allowed just one run over six innings of work while striking out one and walking none. Despite the solid performance, Greinke took the loss, dropping his record to 0-2 on the season. The veteran hurler has a solid 2.57 ERA but his strikeouts are practically nonexistent, with Greinke totaling just seven in 28 innings of work. While Greinke has long been a consistent fantasy producer over his career, his lack of strikeout upside leaves him as a low-end streamer in mixed fantasy leagues. He will face off against the Baltimore Orioles on Sunday.

Wed Mar 16 202216:04Royals Agree With Zack Greinke
The Kansas City Royals agreed with free-agent starting pitcher Zack Greinke on Wednesday, pending a physical, according to sources. MLB Network's Jon Heyman is reporting that Greinke will make $13 million on a one-year deal. The veteran right-hander is now 38 years old and will be returning to the team that he began his major league career with way back in 2005. Greinke made 30 appearances (29 starts) for the Houston Astros in the last two and a half years, posting a solid 4.16 ERA and 1.17 WHIP in 171 innings. He'll be replacing left-hander Mike Minor, who was traded to the Cincinnati Reds on Wednesday, in KC's rotation. The six-time All-Star will lose a lot of fantasy luster heading to Kansas City, although he'll be in a much weaker division in the AL Central.

Tue Sep 28 202118:10Zack Greinke To Make A Rehab Start On Thursday
Houston Astros starting pitcher Zack Greinke (neck) is scheduled to make a rehab outing at Triple-A Sugar Land on Thursday. The 37-year-old veteran landed on the injured list due to neck soreness this past weekend after being scratched from his last start. Astros manager Dusty Baker called it a "distinct possibility" that Greinke could work out of the bullpen in the postseason, something that Greinke had also mentioned last week. We won't see Greinke making another start in the majors during the regular season in 2021 so he can safely be dropped in all redraft leagues. Over 29 starts this year, he went 11-6 with a 4.11 ERA and a 1.17 WHIP.
