Florimon has played five games at second base and seven games at third base, along with 47 games at shortstop, at Triple-A Rochester and is hitting .257/.335/.364.
It looks like Florimon may add some positional flexibility to become a utility player. Florimon just didn't hit this season (.310 OPS in the majors). It's not clear he'll have a major league role as a utility player since his value proposition in the majors was his strong glove at shortstop, which in theory could offset a medicore bat.
Thu Jun 26 201419:01Pedro Florimon Jr. goes hitless in start
Pedro Florimon Jr. went 0-for-3 and lost a popup in the sun for an RBI double Thursday in the loss to the Angels.
Florimon is hitting .096 this year, so he needs to be pretty stellar defensively to justify some playing time and he hasn't been quite that good. He'll return to the bench once Danny Santana gets healthy.

Twins recalled INF Pedro Florimon from Triple-A Rochester.
He's taking Trevor Plouffe's (oblique) spot on the roster. Florimon was sent down last month after hitting just .108/.194/.154, and he didn't exactly catch the world on fire at Triple-A, either, with a .230/.291/.330. The 27-year-old will be used as a backup infielder.

Pedro Florimon (appendectomy) hopes to make his Grapefruit League debut in a week.
Florimon has been going through fielding drills and taking batting practice with no issues. He'll be able to get in about two weeks' worth of spring at-bats, which should be enough to prepare him for Opening Day. "I think 25, 30 at-bats, and I think I would be ready," he said.

Pedro Florimon (appendectomy) fielded grounders at shortstop on Wednesday in Twins camp.
Florimon is performing most baseball-related activities at this point and should be close to 100 percent by the start of the regular season. He had to take a couple of weeks off after having his appendix removed. The final hurdle before his Grapefruit League debut will be live batting practice.

Fri Feb 28 201417:07Pedro Florimon could being year on DL
Twins assistant general manager Rob Antony said Friday that Pedro Florimon (appendectomy) could begin the season on the disabled list.
He added that the timetable for the shortstop will be closely in line with the opener. The good news is that a DL stint could be backdated, so Florimon seems unlikely to miss a full two weeks if a move is made. The shortstop is hoping to resume hitting next week.

Tue Feb 18 201411:42Florimon (appendectomy) out for two weeks
Pedro Florimon (appendectomy) was released from the hospital Tuesday.
Florimon woke up in the middle of the night Monday with discomfort in his side and required an appendectomy. His appendix didn't burst, so he didn't need emergency surgery, which likely would have sidelined him for significantly longer. As is, he'll be shut down from baseball activities for at least two weeks.

Thu Dec 19 201319:31Pedro Florimon nursing oblique strain
Pedro Florimon has been out of Dominican Winter League action since December 6 due to an oblique strain.
It will presumably rule him out for the rest of winter ball, but Twins general manager Terry Ryan says the injury is "not considered serious." Florimon will be ready to roll for the start of spring training.

Wed Aug 28 201323:19Florimon swipes pair of bags in losing effort
Pedro Florimon was one of the Twins' lone bright spots offensively in Wednesday's loss to the Royals, going 2-for-3 with a pair of stolen bases.
He's still hitting a paltry .228 on the season, but now has eight homers and 12 stolen bases in just 324 at-bats. In deeper mixed leagues, there could be future potential here for a sneaky power/speed combination if you can handle the poor average.

Fri Aug 16 201309:01Pedro Florimon will remain starter at SS
Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said Thursday that the slumping Pedro Florimon will remain the team's starter at shortstop.
Florimon has just two hits in 27 at-bats this month, dropping his season line to an ugly .216/.275/.328. Of course, the Twins knew coming into the season that he would be an all-glove, no-hit shortstop, and since his defense has been good, he'll continue to play. "He's going to have to hit his way through these things," Gardenhire said.
