After Dan Hudson closed things out in Game 1, Collmenter, who typically works as Arizona's long man, limited the Rockies to a base hit and a double over his two frames to claim the save. The hiccups in his recent appearances aside, Ziegler has been excellent in the closing role this season, so don't expect Collmenter to put much pressure on him for those duties.

Collmenter relieved started Patrick Corbin in the third inning Thursday and threw three clean innings with three strikeouts against the Reds.

Collmenter held the Reds in check after they took an early 4-0 lead while the D-backs' offense started its come back in a game Arizona would ultimately win. Collmenter has been much better since the All-Star break, posting a 1.61 ERA and 0.90 WHIP over 22.1 innings with a 14:5 K:BB ratio. At this stage, he is likely to finish the year in the bullpen, but could have the chance to compete for a spot at the back of the rotation in 2016.

Collmenter picked up the win Sunday over the Reds when he threw a clean top of the tenth inning before the D-backs walked off in the bottom of the inning. He struck out one in the appearance.

Collmenter has a 2.38 ERA and 1.06 WHIP over his last 11.1 innings, as he continues to pitch better than he did earlier in the year. As a middle reliever he doesn't hold much value due to his low strikeout totals (he has just 45 strikeouts in 93 innings) and it doesn't look like he is headed back to the rotation soon.
