Collmenter pitched will in relief of starter Patrick Corbin on Tuesday, tossing 3.2 shutout innings while giving up a hit and walk, and striking out two against Washington.
Collmenter hasn't been sharp all season, but this was an improvement over his last outing. His last two outings have been of the multi-inning variety and that could be his role for the rest of the season. His chances of moving back to the rotation likely rest on an injury.

Collmenter pitched 4.2 innings in relief of starter Jeremy Hellickson in a loss to the Astros on Saturday. He allowed two runs on seven hits while walking none and striking out two.
This was Collmenter's longest relief outing since his demotion to the bullpen. On the surface, Collmenter appears to have been more effective in relief, posting a 2.29 ERA over 19.2 innings, but his 4.87 FIP and 1.58 WHIP suggest that even out of the pen he has been struggling this year. It is tough to find a role for him in fantasy that won't do more harm than good at this point.

Collmenter, making his first appearance since June 7, pitched 2.2 innings in relief Thursday, allowing a run on three hits and a walk, while registering two strike outs against Anaheim.
Collmenter has moved to the bullpen in favor of Thursday's starter Allen Webster who was hit hard by the Angels. Collmenter has seen time in the bullpen in the past and re-emerged as a starter again, so if you have the roster space it could be worth stashing him in case Webster can't hold onto a place in the D-backs' rotation.

Collmenter has been scratched from his Saturday start and will be moved to the bullpen, Zach Buchanan of The Arizona Republic reports.
Collmenter had looked at least solid in the games leading up to last Sunday's start, but that five-run outing must have been the last straw for Arizona before they decided to go with another, younger option. Collmenter's ERA and FIP both hover over five and he's given up a 1.7 HR/9, which is brutal at this point in the season. He'll be replaced in the rotation by new call-up Allen Webster.

Collmenter fell to 3-6 after allowing five runs on nine hits and a walk over six innings Sunday against the Mets.
The 29-year-old struggled with the longball in this outing, as he allowed four home runs on the day to account for all of the damage against him. He had gone three starts without surrendering more than three runs, but couldn't extend his streak. Collmenter will need to do a much better job of keeping the ball in the yard in his next start Saturday against the Giants.

Collmenter labored through five innings Wednesday, giving up two runs on six hits and two walks while striking out three in St. Louis.
He needed 102 pitches (62 strikes) to complete five frames, but still would have been in line for the win prior to Brad Ziegler taking the loss and the blown save in the ninth inning. While most of the damage to Collmenter's 5.05 ERA came in a May 11 start against the Nationals when he gave up nine runs in 1.1 innings, there also have not been many truly bright spots for the righty so far this season. Even in the complete game shutout he threw against the Giants in April, owners walked away from that start with only two strikeouts, so the upside on a start-to-start basis with Collmenter is lacking in the majority of formats.

Collmenter got back on track Friday against the Cubs, tossing five innings while giving up two runs on six hits and one walk. He struck out four while in the no-decision.
Collementer has had an up and down season, but after struggling in three consecutive starts where he gave up at least four runs, this performance was encouraging. While his 5.19 ERA and 1.37 WHIP are both well above his career averages, his FIP is 4.60 suggesting that he's been a bit better than it looks and there is some room for improvement over the course of the rest of the season.

Collmenter only lasted 1.1 innings Monday against the Nationals, allowing nine earned runs on eight hits, including a three-run home run to Ryan Zimmerman.
Collmenter gave up three home runs in his last start as well, and is allowing 1.32 home runs per nine innings this season. He doesn't bring much to the table in terms of fantasy value, striking out just 4.61 batters per nine innings and posting a FIP of 4.37, which would be a career high.

Collmenter picked up the win Wednesday in the first game of a doubleheader with the Rockies. He gave up five runs on 10 hits, including three home runs, with five strikeouts over seven innings.
Collementer won for the third time in his last four decisions, despite not having one of his best outings. He has gone three straight outings without walking a batter while striking out 14 in 21 innings as he has gotten into a groove of late. With a 2.76 ERA and 1.13 WHIP, he is a useful starter in most leagues.

Collmenter will start the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Diamondbacks.
As expected, Collmenter will simply move back yet again after Tuesday's game was postponed due to rain. Robbie Ray will follow in the nightcap for Arizona.

Collmenter will not pitch Tuesday against the Rockies as the game has been postponed due to rain.
Mother Nature will prevent the Diamondbacks and Rockies from playing Tuesday, as she did Monday. The two teams are reportedly planning to play a doubleheader Wednesday, and Collmenter will presumably start one of them for Arizona.
Mon May 4 201523:39Collmenter slated to start Tuesday against Rockies
Collmenter is slated to start Tuesday against the Rockies, Nick Groke of The Denver Post reports.
Collmenter was supposed to pitch in Monday's game but it ultimately got rained out. He shouldn't be affected by the schedule change, although it's supposed to rain in the Denver area yet again Tuesday which makes Collmenter a risky option across all formats.

Collmenter will not pitch against the Rockies on Monday as the game has been postponed to due rain.
Monday's specific game will be made-up at a later date but Collmenter will likely just move his start back to Tuesday. However, rain is expected in the Denver area yet again Tuesday, making Collmenter a risky option to pursue for the second-straight day.

Collmenter allowed five hits and one unearned run to go with six strikeouts in eight innings to pick up the win over the Rockies on Wednesday.
Collmenter gave up an unearned run in the first, then it was smooth sailing thereafter. At one point, Collmenter retired 12 straight. It was a sterling performance, and Collmenter will have a chance to repeat his gem Tuesday at Colorado.

Collmenter struck out three and gave up three runs on six hits over six innings Friday against Pittsburgh.
He took the loss, but Collmenter pitched well enough to keep the D-backs in the game. He's rebounded nicely after a rough start on Opening Day, surrendering six earned runs over the last 20 innings. Collmenter will make his next start Wednesday against the Rockies.
Sat Apr 18 201512:32Collmenter threw shutout Friday in win over Giants
Collmenter threw a shutout Friday in a win over the Giants. He gave up four hits and a walk while striking out 2 in the effort.
This is really nice bounce back after sub-par efforts in his first two outings. Collmenter is never going to be a volume strikeout pitcher, but he has shown an ability to keep hitters off-balance in the majors and he should eat a lot of innings with league-average ratios at the top of the D-Backs rotation this year.

Collmenter gave up three earned runs on ten hits and a walk in five innings of work to take the loss Sunday against the Dodgers. He struck out one and gave up a home run in the contest.
Collementer drops to 0-2 on the season, but more importantly he has a 6.52 ERA and 2.17 WHIP. He has yielded 19 hits in 9.7 innings and has yet to find the effectiveness he had during last year's breakout season. Collmenter's fastball velocity has been down a bit in the early going, which could be diminishing the effectiveness of his change up. Sorting that out would be a good step to righting the ship.
Tue Apr 7 201510:45Josh Collmenter: Roughed Up On Opening Day
Collmenter pitched just 4.2 innings giving up 10 hits, five earned runs, walking one, and striking out four and took the loss Monday in a 5-4 loss to the Giants.
Collmenter didn't have the deception that he showed last year and needs in order to thrive. He's going to face questions all year about whether he can repeat what he did last year, but this is just the first start of the season so there is no need to worry about Collmenter just yet. His next start is scheduled for Sunday against the Dodgers.
Sun Mar 8 201515:29Josh Collmenter: To Start Opening Day
Collmenter will start for the Diamondbacks on Opening Day.
Collmenter has been better than advertised over the past few seasons, posting a sub 3.50 ERA in each of the last two, though he spent 2013 in the bullpen. After a strong 2014 campaign in which he posted a 3.46 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 115 strikeouts over 179.1 innings, he heads into 2015 locked into the Dbacks rotation, evidenced by his Opening Day start.

Collmenter is considered to be among the locks to begin the year in the Diamondbacks' rotation, the Arizona Republic reports.
While he continues to exceed expectations as a starter, the Diamondbacks have a large cast of prospects and young arms acquired via trade over the past nine months capable of pushing Collmenter for his rotation spot over the course of the season. Given his senior status compared to the alternatives, it would not be surprising to see Collmenter receive the Opening Day start for Arizona. Oddly enough, he's hardly guaranteed to remain in the rotation for all of 2015 if he struggles, given the aforementioned supply of younger alternatives.
