Pirates GM Neal Huntington doesn't sound positive regarding Decker's chances of making the team's Opening Day roster. "He wants to do everything he can to put himself in a position to make this club," Huntington told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. "Unfortunately the calf injury may not allow him to do that."
Decker will likely head to Triple-A while Andrew Lambo and Pedro Florimon battle one another for the final roster spot. It's a tough break for Decker, who was in position to crack his first Opening Day roster.

Sun May 11 201401:23Pirates to call up outfielder Jaff Decker
The Pirates are going to call up outfielder Jaff Decker from Triple-A Indianapolis for Sunday's game.
It should be a lot of fun if the Pirates try to justify any performance reasons for picking Dacker over Gregory Polanco. While Dacker has posted nice numbers in the past, he's currently hitting just .238//339/.356 with one homer in 101 at-bats for Indianapolis. Of course, it makes more sense to call him up than Polanco if they only want an outfielder for a couple of days -- with Travis Snider suspended and Starling Marte and Andrew McCutchen hurting, they definitely need the body -- but there's little doubt Polanco would be up by now if not for the Super Two factor.
