Reyes said that he feels "all right" and "nothing is hurting," but he conceded he no longer has a shot for the No. 5 spot in the rotation due to the setback with his elbow. "I don't care where I start as long as I'm pitching," said Reyes. The 29-year-old has an opt-out clause in his contract that he can exercise if he's not in the majors by a certain date.

Reyes had a bit of a scare with his throwing elbow a couple weeks back, a legitimate concern following Tommy John surgery. He's back on track now, though, and is expected to throw a simulated game Friday. It's unlikely he'll have enough time to threaten for a rotation spot to begin the year.

Anthony Reyes is currently dealing with discomfort is his surgically-repaired right elbow.
Reyes didn't pitch in either of the team's intrasquad games on Thursday and Friday and had a bullpen session scratched on Sunday. "He got checked out and everything," said Indians manager Manny Acta. "He's fine, but he's going to take a few days off. The ligament is perfect. There's no structural damage. He's just going to take a few days off and we'll go from there." The 29-year-old hasn't thrown a pitch in the majors since undergoing Tommy John surgery in June of 2009. He's competing against Josh Tomlin, Jeanmar Gomez, David Huff and Aaron Laffey for the final spot in the starting rotation, but this setback obviously won't help his chances.

Indians manager Manny Acta called Anthony Reyes (elbow) a "sleeper" for the final spot in the starting rotation.

The 29-year-old left-hander is set to compete with Aaron Laffey, David Huff, Josh Tomlin and Jeanmar Gomez for the fifth spot in the rotation.

Thu Aug 5 201014:43Reyes pulled from rehab assignment
Anthony Reyes (elbow surgery) was pulled from his rehab assignment with back tightness.
The right-hander will throw a bullpen session for the big league staff on Friday. Anthony Reyes (elbow surgery) began his rehab assignment Saturday with the Indians' rookie-level team in Arizona.
