Thompson was signed by the Astros in June when he chose to become a free agent after the Royals designated him for assignment. He failed to make it up to the big club, posting an 8.87 ERA and 1.93 WHIP in 23 1/3 innings for Triple-A Round Rock. |

If anything, Thompson is a less attractive bullpen option now than he was a few weeks ago. Not only did he have a 5.40 ERA for Omaha, but he wasn't even getting groundballs. He gave up 16 hits, walked one and struck out just three in 11 2/3 innings. |
