Samuel was designated for assignment earlier this week. If the right-hander can ever get over his control and injury issues, he could be an impact arm out of the bullpen. That seems unlikely to happen, though. | ||||||

The move was made to clear a spot on the 40-man roster for the activation of Eduardo Sanchez. Samuel has a big arm capable of touching the high-90s with his fastball, but he's always had huge control issues (he has an 8.5 BB/9 in his minor league career) and has also dealt with shoulder problems in recent seasons. He has a shot to clear waivers and remain in the organization. | ||||||
