Reds signed OF Daryl Jones to a minor league contract. |
Jones, 24, batted .260/.360/.400 with seven home runs, 35 RBI and three stolen bases in 100 games this season between Double-A Springfield and Triple-A Memphis. He has some tools, but probably isn't good enough at one particular thing to have a projectable future in the major leagues. |

Fri Nov 19 2010 | 17:51 | Cards outright four to Triple-A |
Cardinals outright OFs Daryl Jones and Nick Stavinoha, RHP Adam Ottavino and C Steve Hill to Triple-A Memphis. |
The Cardinals had some tough choices to make on who to add to their 40-man roster and who to expose to the Rule 5 draft. Jones had been one of the team's top prospects but has had two straight disappointing seasons at Double-A and his attitude and effort have been questioned. Ottavino is a former first-round pick who dealt with shoulder issues at the end of the season. The Cards have added RHP Blake King and C Tony Cruz to the 40-man roster. |
