Marlins recalled OF Scott Cousins from Triple-A New Orleans.

Cousins batted just .147/.237/.206 in a stint earlier this season with the Fish but earned another shot by hitting .292/.355/.472 with seven homers and 32 RBI at New Orleans. He'll back up at all three outfield spots.

The Marlins are expected to call up Scott Cousins in time for Friday's series-opener against the Rays.

Cousins has registered a decent .292/.355/.472 batting line with seven home runs, 10 doubles, two triples and 32 RBI in 50 games this season at the Triple-A level. He's doubtful to hold much fantasy value but is capable of providing quality outfield depth for the Marlins.

More known for his collision with Buster Posey than anything else, Cousins batted just .135/.224/.212 over 58 plate appearances for the Marlins last season. He's a career .277/.338/.450 hitter in the minors, though, and has some pop and some speed. The 27-year-old should be able to nail down a bench spot this spring for the Marlins.

Cousins has been out since mid-June with a bulging disk in his back and has yet to start playing in games again. It might be a longshot that he returns to the Marlins this season.
