LHP Eduardo Rodriguez underwent successful right knee surgery Tuesday and is expected to return to pitching in six months. The right knee patellofemoral ligament reconstruction was performed by Dr. James Andrews at the Andrews Institute in Pensacola, Fla. Rodriguez, 24, posted a 6-7 record with a 4.19 ERA in 25 games (24 starts) last season, his third in the big leagues.

RHP Yu Darvish (1-0) stymied the Cubs on Tuesday night to help the Dodgers grab a 3-0 series lead in the National League Championship Series. Darvish limited the Cubs to one run on six hits in 6 1/3 innings. He walked one and struck out seven. "He just had that rhythm, the poise, and didn't allow a whole lot of hard contact," Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said.

1B/DH Hanley Ramirez underwent successful left shoulder surgery Tuesday and is expected to be ready for the start of the 2018 season. Ramirez, 33, had a left shoulder arthroscopy and debridement procedure performed by Dr. James Andrews at the Andrews Institute in Pensacola, Fla. "Hi my people, went in for left shoulder surgery today, keep me in prayers. Coming back stronger in '18, love you all #RedSoxNation @RedSox," Ramirez wrote on his Twitter account Tuesday accompanied with a picture of himself in a hospital bed. Ramirez, a 13-year veteran and three-time All-Star, had a career-worst .242 batting average with 23 home runs and 62 RBIs this past season.

RF Aaron Judge hit his second homer of the postseason and made a highlight-reel catch on Houston DH Yuli Gurriel in the fourth inning when he crashed into the right field fence. Judge also raised his strikeout total to 21, moving him into a third-place tie on the all-time list for a single postseason. The record is held by Alfonso Soriano, who struck out 26 times in 17 games during the 2003 postseason. Judge has appeared in just nine games in this year's playoffs.

RHP Charlie Morton lasted 3 2/3 innings during his third career postseason starts, allowing seven runs on six hits in Game 3 of the AL Championship Series at Yankee Stadium. Morton, who had a ground-ball rate of 51 percent during the regular season, recorded only three of his outs on the ground. In three career postseason starts, Morton has allowed 11 runs on 16 hits in 13 2/3 innings.

RHP Dellin Betances continued to struggle in the postseason Monday when he started the ninth inning by walking 1B Marwin Gonzalez and PH Derek Fisher. He was lifted after walking Fisher and heard some boos while walking off the mound. Betances owns a 6.00 ERA in four postseason appearances. He has allowed five walks in three innings, and in two outings did not retire a batter. After the game, manager Joe Girardi said Betances was "out of whack" with his mechanics.

RHP Luis Severino was not sent for tests, and he was named the starter for Game 6 on Friday if the AL Championship Series returns to Houston. Severino exited after four innings and 62 pitches in Game 2 on Saturday because Yankees manager Joe Girardi was concerned about a possible shoulder injury. Girardi's concerns were based on Severino aggressively moving his arm in a manner not seen before. Severino has pitched 11 strong innings in two postseason starts after getting only one out in the AL wild-card game on Oct. 3.

LHP CC Sabathia improved to 10-0 after a Yankees loss this season when he allowed three hits in six innings during a 8-1 win Monday in Game 3 of the AL Championship Series against Houston. It was the first time he did not allow a run in a postseason start. Sabathia has 19 strikeouts in this year's postseason, matching his second-best total through the first two rounds. In 2009, he fanned 20 hitters in the first two rounds, and in 2012, he fanned 19.

RHP Lance McCullers Jr. was named as Houston's starter for Game 4 on Tuesday following the Astros' 8-1 loss to the Yankees in Game 3 of the AL Championship Series on Monday. McCullers is making his fourth start since returning from the disabled list last month following a back injury. In his past eight starts, he is 0-3 with an 8.63 ERA. McCullers is 2-0 with a 2.08 ERA in three career starts against the Yankees.

RHP Collin McHugh pitched four scoreless innings in Game 3 of the AL Championship Series on Monday, marking the longest relief appearance in a postseason game in Houston's history. The previous longest was by Wandy Rodriguez, who pitched 3 1/3 in Game 1 of the 2005 World Series against the Chicago White Sox.

RHP Kyle Hendricks will start Game 3 of the National League Championship Series against the Dodgers on Tuesday. It will be Hendricks' third start this postseason after he started twice in the NL Division Series against the Nationals, going 1-0 with a 3.27 ERA. In last season's NLCS against the Dodgers, Hendricks went 1-1 with a 0.71 ERA, throwing 7 1/3 scoreless innings in a Game 6, series-clinching win.

LHP Jon Lester got a no-decision against the Dodgers in Game 2 of the National League Championship Series on Sunday after he allowed one run on three hits and five walks in 4 2/3 innings. Lester held the Dodgers scoreless through four innings, but the Dodgers made him work for it, elevating his pitch count. In the fifth, he gave up a two-out RBI single to 3B Justin Turner. After he walked 1B Cody Bellinger, Lester had made 103 pitches, and he was taken out of the game.

3B Justin Turner hit the second walk-off homer in Dodgers postseason history. The other was by Kirk Gibson, 29 years earlier to the day.On a 1-0 count to Turner, Cubs RHP John Lackey grooved a 91 mph fastball over the plate. Turner didn't miss it, blasting it over the fence in center field for the dramatic victory.Turner also drove in the Dodgers' first run with a two-out RBI single in the fifth inning.Los Angeles manager Dave Roberts said, "He just has that pulse where he can kind of keep his calm and stay within the strike zone. He's not afraid to fail and just wants to be in that spot."

RHP Kenley Jansen has three saves and a victory in five appearances this postseason, throwing six scoreless innings, including a save in Game 1 and a win in Game 2 of the National League Championship Series against the Cubs. Jansen said recently he would like to meet with former Yankees closer Mariano Rivera during the offseason so he can learn from him. "I heard about that meeting and I think Kenley wanting to do that, that's fantastic," Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said. "It's a credit to him that he's a superstar player and just wants to get better. And Mariano, (he's) probably the best off all-time."

RHP Yu Darvish will start Game 3 of the National League Championship Series against the Cubs on Tuesday. He's coming off a stellar performance in his first postseason start, when he earned a victory over Arizona in Game 2 of the NL Division Series, giving up one run on two hits in five innings while striking out seven. He has faced the Cubs only once in his career, in 2016 while pitching for the Rangers. In that game, he gave up two runs and two hits with nine strikeouts, but he lasted only 4 1/3 innings and walked four in a 3-1 loss.

LHP Rich Hill got a no-decision against the Cubs in Game 2 of the National League Championship Series on Sunday after giving up one run on three hits and one walk in five innings. Hill, who struck out while making a total of 79 pitches, was lifted for a pinch hitter in the bottom of the fifth. The only run the Cubs scored against Hill came on a leadoff homer by SS Addison Russell in the fifth inning.

RHP John Lackey has pitched in the postseason 10 different years with four different teams, so Cubs manager Joe Maddon had no problem going to him with the Dodgers having the potential game-winning run on second base with two outs Sunday in the ninth inning of Game 2 of the NL Championship Series. Lackey walked Chris Taylor before yielding Justin Turner's game-winning three-run homer. "I'm betting on his experience right there as much as anything," Maddon said of his decision to go with Lackey. "I know he went out there and tried to make the pitches he wanted to make. I knew the crowd would not affect him, and it didn't."

CF Albert Almora Jr. was happy to see the Dodgers start another left-hander in Game 2 of the National League Championship Series (Rich Hill). Almora hit lefties well during the regular season, batting .342 (38-for-111) with a .411 on-base percentage. Then in Game 1 against Dodgers LHP Clayton Kershaw, Almora hit a two-run homer that gave the Cubs an early lead. "Obviously it's something that I'm going to be able to share with my kids and grandkids later on," Almora said. Against Hill in Game 2, however, Almora went 0-for-2 with a strikeout, and he finished the night 0-for-4.

2B Javier Baez was in the starting lineup for Game 2 of the National League Championship Series on Sunday against the Dodgers despite being hitless in the postseason (0-for-17 with seven strikeouts) going into the game. "As of right now, they have a lot of lefties pitching, and if you look at Javy's numbers against lefties, they've been pretty darn good over the course of the season," Cubs manager Joe Maddon said. "He's the kind of guy that it just takes one at-bat to get him rolling in the right direction." Baez, who hit .315 (39-for-124) against lefties during the regular season, went 0-for-1 with a walk in Game 2 against Dodgers LHP Rich Hill, 0-for-2 overall, leaving him 0-for-19 this postseason.

RF Jason Heyward was in the starting lineup Sunday for Game 2 of the National League Championship Series, replacing Kyle Schwarber, who started Game 1. Heyward went 0-for-3 and is now hitting .133 (2-for-15) with no extra-base hits and no RBIs in the 2017 postseason. This is Heyward's sixth postseason in the past eight seasons, but he has struggled, hitting .155 (18-for-116) with two homers and seven RBIs.
