Sat Apr 22 202300:54Aaron Nola Goes Seven Innings Friday
Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Aaron Nola pitched in seven innings, giving up three runs on four hits and three walks while striking out three batters Friday. Nola's efforts helped his team secure a 4-3 win over the Colorado Rockies. He struggled early in the game, giving up three runs in the first inning. However, the Phillies' top pitcher showed impressive resilience and held the Rockies scoreless for the rest of the game. A solid outing will be a confidence booster for Nola after a rough start to the season.

Fri Mar 31 202300:43Aaron Nola Implodes In Opening Day Start
Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Aaron Nola got lit up in his Opening Day start against the Texas Rangers, allowing five runs over just 3 2/3 innings. Nola was actually cruising for the first three innings, allowing just one baserunner. But things came unraveled in the fourth, when he allowed four hits and a walk, including a three-run homer to Robbie Grossman, before being pulled. The fantasy ace has been known to have these occasional blow-ups, but they are usually few and far between. Expect Nola to bounce back from this performance and put up his usual ace-like numbers this season.

Fri Mar 24 202313:10Phillies Name Aaron Nola The Opening Day Starter
The Philadelphia Phillies named right-hander Aaron Nola as their Opening Day starter for next Thursday against the Texas Rangers. It will be Nola's sixth straight Opening Day nod. It speaks to how good the 29-year-old has been as the team's ace. He'll be facing off against ex-division-rival ace Jacob deGrom as well. Nola finished fourth in the National League Cy Young voting in 2022 after going 11-13 in the regular season with a 3.25 ERA (2.58 FIP), 0.96 WHIP and 29.1 percent strikeout rate in 32 starts covering 205 innings. He's a fantasy ace for those drafting this weekend, and RotoBaller has him ranked No. 7 among starting pitchers.

Fri Feb 17 202317:30Aaron Nola, Phillies In Extension Talks
The Philadelphia Phillies and starting pitcher Aaron Nola have begun discussions on a long-term contract extension, according to multiple major-league sources. He's currently scheduled to become a free agent after the 2023 season. There appears to be momentum to reach an agreement sometime this spring, and Nola has expressed his interest in remaining in Philadelphia. Nola doesn't want to drag extensions into the regular season, so if the Phils don't want him hitting the open market this winter, they'll need to get something done soon. The 29-year-old right-hander is making $16 million in 2023, but his robust track record will allow him to get paid on his next deal. He has made more starts and pitched more innings than anyone in baseball since the start of 2018, and he finished fourth in the NL Cy Young voting last season. Nola is a top-five fantasy ace, regardless of whether he signs an extension this spring.

Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Aaron Nola never seemed to get comfortable in Wednesday night's World Series Game 4 start against the Houston Astros, and he left in the fourth inning with the bases loaded. Unfortunately for him, relief pitcher Jose Alvarado allowed all three of those runners to score, and Nola finished with three runs allowed on seven hits and no walks in four innings of work. He struck out four batters and took his second loss of the postseason. He now has a 4.91 ERA and 1.32 WHIP with 27 strikeouts in 25 2/3 innings in the playoffs.

Nola has not had a great postseason to the tune of a 4.57 ERA through four starts, including a five-run, 4 1/3-inning dud in last Friday's Game 1. He is still one of the Phillies' two aces and pitched like it in the regular season, going 11-13 with a 3.25 ERA, 0.96 WHIP, and 29.1% strikeout rate over 32 starts. He will look to give his team a 3-1 series lead at home.

Fri Aug 26 202200:36Aaron Nola Tosses Complete-Game Shutout
Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Aaron Nola was excellent on Thursday, tossing a complete-game shutout to help his club defeat the Reds 4-0. The right-hander struck out a season-high 11 batters while allowing just five hits and no walks in the 101-pitch effort. Nola cruised through the majority of the game and only ran into trouble in the ninth inning, when he stranded runners on second and third to end the contest. He now holds a sharp 3.08 ERA and 0.94 WHIP on the season to go along with a 185/22 K/BB through 166 2/3 innings pitched. Wed May 18 202214:01Aaron Nola Winless In Last Seven Starts
Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Aaron Nola has started eight games this season, pitching to a 3.64 ERA and 0.98 WHIP in 47 innings, and yet he has gone winless since Opening Day, garnering a disappointing 1-4 record for the season. Still, fantasy managers have to be encouraged by the early returns for the righty, as Nola has four quality starts in his last five outings with 39 strikeouts in those 32 1/3 innings. He's bound to be victimized by some extremely poor Phillies defense, but nevertheless the wins should begin rolling in for this fantasy ace.

He allowed one hit through seven shutout innings and struck out nine batters. Nola only allowed one walk as well in what ended up being a no-decision for the young right-hander. The Phillies offense couldn't score a single run for him as they drop this game 1-0 to Milwaukee. Nola will look to add onto this performance against the New York Mets on Friday.

Tue Apr 19 202200:41Aaron Nola Takes Tough Loss Monday
Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Aaron Nola fell to 1-2 in Monday's 4-1 loss to the Rockies. Nola pitched well overall, allowing two runs on six hits (including a solo home run) and a walk with four strikeouts over 5 1/3 innings pitched. However, the Phillies could only muster a single run in support of him. Nola has not turned in the most inspiring start to the season, posting a 5.52 ERA with 16 strikeouts and four walks over 14 2/3 IP. That being said, the season is much too early for fantasy managers to start worrying about one of their earlier pitchers drafted. Nola will look to turn in a strong start next against the Brewers at home.

Sat Apr 9 202208:40Aaron Nola Picks Up Win On Opening Day
Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Aaron Nola went six-plus innings, allowing four earned runs on four hits while striking out seven in the Phillies' 9-5 win over the Oakland Athletics on Friday. Nola would have had a quality start, and his line would have looked a lot better, but for the fact that he allowed three earned runs in the top of the seventh inning without recording an out. Nola is coming off a subpar season by his standards, having posted a 4.63 ERA in 180 2/3 innings over 32 starts in 2021. But Nola had a 3.37 xERA, 3.37 xFIP, and 3.26 SIERA, to go with a 29.8% strikeout rate which indicates he had some poor luck in 2021. Nola is a solid SP1 option for managers in all formats. He lines up to face the New York Mets at home on Wednesday in his next start.
