Wed Dec 1 202113:17Yankees Show Interest In Isiah Kiner-Falefa, Andrelton Simmons
The New York Yankees have expressed interest in a trade for Texas Rangers shortstop Isiah Kiner-Falefa. The slick fielder may be expendable now that Texas has added both Marcus Semien and Corey Seager in free agency. New York has also been connected to free agent shortstop Andrelton Simmons. The Yankees had been speculated as a potential landing spot for one of the top free agent shortstops, of which Carlos Correa, Trevor Story, and Chris Taylor remain, but it now appears they will not make such a splash unless contract demands decrease. Prospects Anthony Volpe and Oswald Peraza lurk in the minors as potential shortstops of the future, and ... [More]

Thu Sep 30 202112:53Isiah Kiner-Falefa Not In Thursday's Lineup
Texas Rangers shortstop Isiah Kiner-Falefa is absent from Thursday's lineup for the matchup against the Los Angeles Angels, according to MLB.com. Kiner-Falefa has hit .272 this season with 20 SBs but has just seven home runs and a .356 slugging. Yonny Hernandez will shift over to short, and Brock Holt will start at the hot corner. Holt doesn't offer much fantasy value, owning a .206/.281/.294 slash line with two home runs and five stolen bases over 75 games. Fantasy managers are better off looking somewhere else for streaming help.

Thu Sep 23 202100:30Isiah Kiner-Falefa Gets Two Hits On Wednesday
Texas Rangers infielder Isiah Kiner-Falefa continues to be productive at the plate despite not having much talent around him. On Wednesday, Kiner-Falefa went 2-for-4 with two singles and one RBI in the 7-3 loss to the New York Yankees. The Rangers aren't getting a lot of run support these days, but Kiner-Falefa remains a useful option at the top of the batting order. Sadly, there isn't much upside with his bat, so Kiner-Falefa will remain a deep league option going forward.

Mon Sep 20 202100:05Isiah Kiner-Falefa Steals Two Bases Sunday
Texas Rangers infielder Isiah Kiner-Falefa has quietly put together a respectable campaign in 2021. He has been a fine option for this team near the top of the order all season long. On Sunday, he went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and an RBI in the 7-2 loss to the Chicago White Sox. The fact Kiner-Falefa has catcher eligibility makes him relevant in fantasy leagues. He'll be an afterthought if that is taken away next season. He is a decent contact hitter, but doesn't offer much outside of that in terms of fantasy production.

Tue Sep 14 202110:57Isiah Kiner-Falefa Has Three-Hit Game On Monday
Texas Rangers infielder Isiah Kiner-Falefa put together a nice three-hit performance during Monday's game against the Houston Astros. He went 3-for-4 all singles in the 15-1 blowout loss to Houston. Kiner-Falefa was one of two Rangers' hitters to record two or more hits in this game. It was a rough game all around for Texas, but there will be more games. Kiner-Falefa has continued to keep a respectable batting average throughout the season. However, he doesn't offer much upside with power or speed. He could be an AL-only option, but there isn't much value outside of that.

Thu Aug 12 202113:53Isiah Kiner-Falefa Gets Two Knocks In Defeat
Texas Rangers shortstop Isiah Kiner-Falefa has been one of the few reliable hitters for this offense lately. He continues to bat at the top of the order and it's paying off for Texas right now. On Wednesday, Kiner-Falefa went 2-for-3 with two singles in the 2-1 loss to the Seattle Mariners. He was the only player in this lineup to put together a multi-hit performance on Wednesday. Kiner-Falefa has raised his batting average to .260 with seven homers, 38 RBI, and 16 stolen bases. He is certainly an asset in fantasy formats, but is probably a borderline option in 12-team leagues.

Mon Aug 9 202110:41Isiah Kiner-Falefa Goes Deep In Loss
Texas Rangers shortstop Isiah Kiner-Falefa seems to be one of the few reliable bats for this offense right now. On Sunday, he went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in the seventh inning of a 6-3 loss to the Oakland Athletics. The multi-hit performances continue to pile up for Kiner-Falefa who seems to always be at the top of the order. He's a borderline option in 12-team standard leagues and should be rostered just about everywhere else right now.

Sat Aug 7 202112:29Isiah Kiner-Falefa Collects Three Hits
Texas Rangers infielder Isiah Kiner-Falefa put together a nice three-hit performance against the Oakland Athletics on Friday. He went 3-for-5 with a double and an RBI in the 4-1 loss. The Rangers only managed six hits and Kiner-Falefa had three of them and the lone run batted in. Kiner-Falefa is batting .259/.293/.353 with six homers and 16 steals this season. Certainly someone worth looking at in fantasy leagues. He won't put together huge power performances, but is a reliable hitter.

Thu Aug 5 202111:33Isiah Kiner-Falefa Has Three-Hit Performance
Texas Rangers infielder Isiah Kiner-Falefa was one of the few bats that showed up for this offense on Wednesday. He went 3-for-4 with two singles, a double, and the only run scored on the night for this unit. Kiner-Falefa doubled in the sixth which led to him scoring on a groundball by Adolis Garcia. Shohei Ohtani was able to keep the Rangers offense in check, which isn't a hard task these days. Kiner-Falefa is slashing .258/.293/.351 with six homers, 35 RBI and 16 stolen bases this season. There is certainly value here, but Kiner-Falefa might only be a streaming option in 12-team standard leagues.

Sun Jul 25 202102:43Sandoval loses no-hitter in 9th, Angels beat Twins 2-1
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Patrick Sandoval had his no-hit bid broken up with one out in the ninth inning on a soft double by rookie Brent Rooker and the Los Angeles Angels beat the Minnesota Twins 2-1 on Saturday night. Sandoval, a 24-year-old lefty who began the game with a 3-13 career record, struck out a career-high 13. There have already been seven no-hitters in the majors this season. The big league record of eight was set in 1884, the first year overhand pitching was permitted. The Twins hadn’t come close to a hit until Rooker, who fanned his first three times up, flared an opposite-field fly that fell just inside the line in right. Sandoval (3-4) smiled after the ball fell, retired the next batter and then was pulled after 108 pitches. He walked one and hit two. Closer Raisel Iglesias allowed an RBI double to Josh Donaldson before getting his 21st save in 25 chances. José Berríos (7-5) allowed two unearned runs in seven innings in perhaps his final start for Minnesota. ASTROS 4, RANGERS... [More]

Sat Jul 24 202122:03Astros lose combined no-hit bid against Rangers in 8th
HOUSTON (AP) — The Houston Astros lost their combined no-hit bid in the eighth when Isiah Kiner-Falefa singled to start the inning for the Texas Rangers. Framber Valdez needed 99 pitches to get through six innings and Bryan Abreu took over for the seventh. Ryne Stanek came on in the eighth and Kiner-Falefa smacked his second pitch into shallow center field for the hit. Center fielder Myles Straw sprinted in and dived to try and make the catch, but it bounced just in front of his glove. Andy Ibáñez reached on a fielding error by Carlos Correa to start the seventh when he bobbled his grounder and didn't attempt a throw to first. Abreu retired David Dahl on a fly out before striking out Charlie Culberson and Jose Trevino to end the inning. Valdez struggled with command on Saturday night and tied a career high by walking six batters. Four of his six walks came in the first two innings. He settled down after the second and retired 12 of his last 14 batters. The 27-year-old left-hander was making... [More]
Fri Jul 23 202103:24Rays rally past Tribe after trading for slugger Nelson Cruz
CLEVELAND (AP) — Austin Meadows hit an RBI single in the 10th inning to cap Tampa Bay’s comeback in a 5-4 win over the Cleveland Indians on Thursday night, hours after the Rays acquired slugger Nelson Cruz from Minnesota. Meadows’ one-out liner off Bryan Shaw (3-4) brought home Randy Arozarena, who began the 10th at second base. Down 4-2 in the ninth, the Rays rallied to tie it against closer James Karinchak on a leadoff homer by Yandy Diaz and Brandon Lowe’s two-out RBI double. Pete Fairbanks (3-3) pitched the ninth and Diego Castillo struck out Franmil Reyes and Bobby Bradley with the potential tying run at third in the 10th for his 14th save. The Rays announced their acquisition of Cruz just before the first pitch. Needing a big bat for the playoff push, Tampa Bay got a potent one from the disappointing Twins. Cruz has 436 career homers, and his presence alone will re-shape Tampa Bay’s lineup. Indians starter Cal Quantrill allowed just one run in six strong innings before turning it... [More]
