Sun Oct 16 202218:35Braves Want To Bring Back Kenley Jansen
Atlanta Braves relief pitcher Kenley Jansen signed a one-year deal with the organization last offseason. The 35-year-old had an excellent season with the Braves in 2022. He posted a 3.38 ER, 1.05 WHIP, and 41 saves in 65 appearances. That being said, the Braves would love to have Jansen return next season, according to GM Alex Anthopoulos. It's worth noting that the Braves do have Raisel Iglesias, so they don't exactly need to bring back Jansen. It'll be interesting to see what the Braves do after a quick exit in the postseason.

Mon Oct 3 202208:56Kenley Jansen Collects 40th Save
Atlanta Braves relief pitcher Kenley Jansen slammed the door on the New York Mets for the third game in a row. The 35-year-old needed only seven pitches to retire all of the Mets hitters in the ninth inning during Sunday's game. His save counts as his 40th on the season in 47 attempts, which is fairly solid. This is a nice milestone for the veteran reliever who has played a big part in the Braves season. He'll look to add on a few more saves before the season is over.

Tue Sep 20 202200:18Kenley Jansen Earns 35th Save Of Season Monday
Atlanta Braves closer Kenley Jansen picked up his 35th save of the season in Monday's 5-2 win over the Nationals. The veteran came on to close things out with a three-run lead and did just that, delivering a 1-2-3 inning with a strikeout. The ERA has been a bit high at 3.70, but Jansen has still been a solid fantasy closing option, converting 35 of 42 save opportunities with an 11.73 K/9 rate. He should see plenty of action down the stretch with the Braves competing for their division.

Sun Sep 4 202201:00Kenley Jansen Blows Save Saturday
Atlanta Braves relief pitcher Kenley Jansen could not convert the save opportunity Saturday night and was fortunate to allow just one run after loading the bases with no outs. He recorded just two outs and allowed two hits and a walk against the Miami Marlins, though Atlanta recovered to win the game 2-1. Jansen has now allowed at least one run in three of his last four outings. His job appears safe for now, but Raisel Iglesias would make for an outstanding replacement if manager Brian Snitker eventually chooses to make a change.

Wed Aug 3 202211:46Kenley Jansen Will Remain Braves' Primary Closer
Atlanta Braves skipper Brian Snitker said that relief pitcher Kenley Jansen will continue to serve as the team's primary closer, but the newly acquired Raisel Iglesias is the secondary closer. Jansen is only on a one-year deal with Atlanta, while Iglesias is signed through the 2025 season. Jansen's fantasy managers were likely very uneasy when the Braves made the move to acquire Iglesias from the Los Angeles Angels at Tuesday's trade deadline, but for now, Jansen will remain the team's primary fireman. The 34-year-old right-hander has struggled at times this year, but he's been better of late and has a 3.43 ERA, 0.99 WHIP, 54 strikeouts and a healthy 24 saves in 39 1/3 innings in 2022. Iglesias might pick up a save chance here or there if Jansen needs a break, but it looks like his fantasy value will take a hit with the move to Atlanta the rest of this season.

Sat Jul 30 202218:39Kenley Jansen Unavailable Saturday
Atlanta Braves relief pitcher Kenley Jansen (back) is unavailable to pitch Saturday against the Arizona Diamondbacks after feeling a twinge in his back during his appearance Friday. The injury isn't considered serious, but fantasy managers should keep an eye out for news on the Braves closer over the next few days. Jansen has put up 24 saves in 28 opportunities this season while pitching to a 3.52 ERA and 0.99 WHIP with 53 strikeouts and 10 walks in 38 IP. Expect A.J. Minter or Will Smith to get a chance at the save tonight if the opportunity arises.

Sat Jul 30 202200:19Kenley Jansen Records 24th Save
Atlanta Braves relief pitcher Kenley Jansen didn't make it easy during Friday's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks. The veteran right-hander struck out the first two batters of the inning before things escalated on him. Jansen allowed a triple and two walks to load up the bases with two outs. Luckily, he was able to get Jordan Luplow to swing and miss to finish off the game. This notched his 24th save of the season, but it wasn't pretty.

Wed Jul 27 202200:39Kenley Jansen Enters Late For 23rd Save Tuesday
Atlanta Braves closer Kenley Jansen came in to save the day in Tuesday's 6-3 win over the Phillies. Jansen entered the bottom of the ninth inning up by three with one out and a runner on first. He was able to prevent the Phillies from fighting back further by getting the two batters he faced out on a flyout and a groundout, earning his 23rd save of the season. The 34-year-old has been a reliable fantasy option this season, converting all but four save opportunities with a 3.62 ERA and a 12.05 K/9 rate.

Mon Jul 11 202218:39Kenley Jansen Throws Bullpen Session Monday
Atlanta Braves closer Kenley Jansen (heart) went through a bullpen session on Monday, according to David O'Brien of The Athletic. Jansen is eligible to return from the 15-day injured list on Tuesday. O'Brien states that since Jansen completed a bullpen session on Monday, he's unlikely to return on Tuesday, but he should be back in action soon. While he's been out, we've seen William Smith and A.J. Minter split closing duties for the team. Jansen will most certainly be back to his ninth inning duties once he's activated, shifting Smith and Minter back to setup roles.

Mon Jul 4 202221:06Kenley Jansen Targeting A Return On July 12
Atlanta Braves pitcher Kenley Jansen (chest) expects to be activated from the injured list on July 12. He was in the Braves clubhouse Monday and has been doing full workouts. Jansen was placed on the 15-day injured list last Tuesday with an irregular heartbeat. The 34-year-old is eligible to come off the IL on July 12 as the move was retroactive to June 27. Jansen has gone 4-0 with 20 saves and a 3.58 ERA and should return as the primary closer once activated. Fantasy managers could have Jansen back in mid-July and should continue to stash him. Will Smith will continue to handle closing duties while Jansen is sidelined. Smith has notched saves in back-to-back appearances and should be rostered in all leagues.

Wed Jun 8 202200:50Kenley Jansen Earns Save No. 15 Tuesday
Atlanta Braves closer Kenley Jansen notched his 15th save of the season in Tuesday's 3-2 win over the Athletics. The veteran entered to pitch the ninth inning up by one and delivered a 1-2-3 inning with a strikeout to end the game. Jansen has been a reliable fantasy option once again this season, converting all but three save opportunities with a 3.65 ERA, 34 strikeouts, and eight walks over 24 2/3 innings pitched. He should remain in fantasy managers' lineups at all times.

Wed Jun 1 202209:38Kenley Jansen Charged With His Third Blown Save
Atlanta Braves closer Kenley Jansen failed to convert his save opportunity against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday. He entered the game in the ninth inning with the Braves up 6-5 and wound up giving up two hits, one walk and one earned run. The Braves went on to lose the game in 10 innings. After converting each of his first nine save attempts this year, Jansen has started to show some vulnerabilities the past few weeks. He's blown three of his last six save opportunities dating back to May 18. Jansen should have an extremely long leash as the team's primary closer so don't expect any changes in the team's ninth inning approach unless Jansen gets injured or just completely falls apart.

Wed May 25 202200:22Kenley Jansen Blows Save, Gets Win Tuesday
Atlanta Braves closer Kenley Jansen got bailed out by his offense in Tuesday's 6-5 win over the Phillies. Jansen entered to pitch the top of the ninth up 4-3. He got Rhys Hoskins to pop out for the first out, but then walked Alec Bohm and allowed a massive two-run home run to Bryce Harper before getting the final two outs on groundouts. Fortunately for him, the Braves were able to capitalize on a costly error in the bottom half of the inning to win the game 6-5, making Jansen the pitcher of record. The veteran started the season very well but has now allowed earned runs in each of his last three outings and has two blown saves in those games. There isn't really much for fantasy managers to do at this time, as Jansen is the team's clear closer and has a respectable 3.86 ERA. Hopefully, he can get things back on the right track in the coming days.

Wed May 18 202218:57Kenley Jansen Suffers First Blown Save
Atlanta Braves relief pitcher Kenley Jansen suffered his first blown save of the season during Wednesday's game against the Milwaukee Brewers. Jansen walked the leadoff hitter, but retired the next two batters. However, Kolten Wong smacked a game-tying triple off Jansen with two outs. Jansen has converted nine of 10 save chances this season. He is in no danger of losing his job as the closer in Atlanta. Fantasy managers can just consider this a fluke outing.

Wed May 18 202200:05Kenley Jansen Earns Ninth Save Of Season Tuesday
Atlanta Braves closer Kenley Jansen stayed perfect Tuesday, earning his ninth save in a 3-0 win over the Brewers. Jansen entered the game to pitch the ninth inning up by three and delivered a 1-2-3 inning with two strikeouts. Jansen remains a higher-end fantasy closer with two wins, no blown saves, a 2.30 ERA, 22 strikeouts, and three walks through 15 2/3 innings pitched.

Tue May 3 202200:30Kenley Jansen Stays Perfect, Earns Seventh Save Monday
Atlanta Braves closer Kenley Jansen continued his perfect save conversions this season in Monday's 5-2 win over the Mets. Jansen entered the game to pitch the ninth inning up by three and pitched a scoreless inning, allowing a single with no walks and a strikeout. The veteran has gotten off to a strong start with his new team, converting all seven of his save opportunities with a 2.70 ERA, 13 strikeouts, and two walks in 10 innings pitched. He has historically been one of fantasy's top closers, but there was some skepticism that he could be quite as good this season. He has quieted those thoughts to this point and fantasy managers should continue to trust him.

Mon Apr 25 202222:25Kenley Jansen 4-For-4 In Save Chances To Start Season
Atlanta Braves relief pitcher Kenley Jansen has gone a perfect 4-for-4 in save opportunities for the defending World Series champions to start the 2022 season. Aside from a rocky first appearance during a non-save situation, in which he surrendered three earned runs, the three-time All-Star has allowed one walk while striking out seven across five innings since. The 34-year-old should be an elite ninth-inning man for the Braves and his eighth season of 30 or more saves is firmly on the radar.

Sat Mar 19 202210:05Kenley Jansen To Be Braves Primary Closer
Relief pitcher Kenley Jansen will be the Atlanta Braves primary closer after signing to a one-year, $16 million deal on Friday night. Left-handed reliever Will Smith is fine with the move and told general manager Alex Anthopoulous that he just wants to win another World Series ring. It's obviously a big hit to Smith's fantasy value after he had a career-high 37 saves in his second year in Atlanta. The southpaw also struck out 87 hitters in 68 regular season innings, so he'll have some appeal in holds leagues in 2022. Jansen is 34 years old, but the three-time All-Star had 38 saves and 86 K's in 69 innings for the Los Angeles Dodgers last year. The right-hander will remain a strong source of saves in fantasy with his new team, while back in LA, Blake Treinen should be the Dodgers primary ninth-inning man.

Fri Mar 18 202222:52Kenley Jansen Joins Braves
The Atlanta Braves signed free-agent relief pitcher Kenley Jansen to a one-year, $16 million deal on Friday. The three-time All-Star spent all 12 years of his MLB career with the Los Angeles Dodgers, but he will now head to the east coast and is likely to supplant left-hander Will Smith as the Braves new closer in 2022. Back in Los Angeles, Blake Treinen remains in line to see the bulk of the ninth-inning save chances. Jansen finished last year with a solid 2.22 ERA, 1.04 WHIP, 86 strikeouts, 36 walks and 38 saves in 69 innings over 69 relief appearances for the Blue. He has at least 25 saves in every season since 2012, excluding the shortened 2020 campaign. Jansen is no longer in his prime, but he's still one of the better closing options in baseball and will be closing for the defending World Series champions.

Mon Mar 14 202214:02Dodgers Not Closing The Door On Kenley Jansen
Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said the door isn't closed on the team re-signing relief pitcher Kenley Jansen. Roberts said the Dodgers could have five relievers in the mix for saves in 2022, so Jansen won't be guaranteed the everyday ninth-inning gig if he decides to return to LA. Blake Treinen is currently the favorite for most save chances, but Daniel Hudson, Alex Vesia and Brusdar Graterol could also be involved. Jansen, a three-time All-Star from 2016-18, was better last year with 38 saves, a 2.22 ERA and 1.04 WHIP while striking out 86 and walking 36 in 69 innings over 69 appearances for the Blue. Despite his age, 34, Jansen would be fantasy relevant as a closing option if he returns to one of the best teams in baseball.
